For Dashnori i Ceces:

Albania will probably join the EU in 2050 or even later. You Albanians will have to wait many years before becoming citizens of the EU.

"Even if Serbia receives candidate status in 2009 she will probably join the EU after 2015."

I agree with Mircea. After makign the mistake of accepting the corrupt Bulgaria and Romania they are making it harder for everyone else. Albania was told to not apply in 2008, but to work harder.

Croatia was supposed to get in this year too. Guess what happened? Either way, Serbia, Albania and Kosova will enter at the same time. Kosova will not be ready 100% economically but it will enter anyway. EULEX will probably make them more "European" as far as laws go but economy will take 10-20 years to even start to look European.

bganon,

“We should work on Serbia receiving candidate status by 2009,” Frattini told Italian news agency ANSA.'

There is quite a difference between "should" and "will". You should know this if you are going to be able to comment intelligently.

“We should work on Serbia receiving candidate status by 2009,”

key word being SHOULD...

Same old Tadic making so many mistakes.

'All politicians lie to their people, the question is : why is Mr Tadic doing so blatantly? '

'So Serbia, no matter who governs it, has no chance of becoming candidate before mid 2010. '

Read again 'Before heading to Belgrade for the signing of the cooperation agreement between Italian Fiat and Zastava, he said that Serbia would receive EU candidate status next year.

“We should work on Serbia receiving candidate status by 2009,” Frattini told Italian news agency ANSA.'

All politicians lie to their people, the question is : why is Mr Tadic doing so blatantly?

Even if EU states were to start ratifying their respective SAAs with Serbia immediately it would take about a year until all 27 are complete.

Only after that can Serbia apply for candidate status, whose process would take about a year on its own.

So Serbia, no matter who governs it, has no chance of becoming candidate before mid 2010.

Is this just a coincidence, or is Mr Tadic setting high hopes for Serbs in other state policies as well?
