According to the latest OSCE municipal profile Novo Brdo has 3900 inhabitants and is one of the poorest municipalities in Kosovo. The municipality is the largest employer. Also it mentions that the original 50-50 composition of the population has shifted through departure of some Serbs. The report mentions that there is freedom of movement for the Serbs but fails to mention anything about usurped lands and houses.
So we have:
- small villages, so everybody knows everybody and the chance for ethnic conflicts is much smaller than in anonymous cities.
- extreme poverty, so there is little to property to fight about. Ethnic conflicts usually have a materialistic component, but here there is little to fight over.
- even so quite a few Serbs have left.

Fletcher Burton please define and differentiate between multi-ethnic and mono-ethnic. Also define international law, 1244 and exactly where EULEX fits into the equation - legally.

When you have such a disproportionate percentage of ethnic groups (90% Albanian and 10% Serb and others), of which some of the Serbian population lives behind barbed wire I would say it is most definitely NOT multicultural.
Even a fool can see that.

Somehow I doubt the Serbs of Novo Brdo would be as ready to admit to multiethnic co-existence as some of the spon doctors in Pristina would like. Cooperation by necessity due to geographical location does not automatically mean multi-ethnic co-existence.
