Nikola, Russia clearly favors its allies to not be in the EU. Belarus is a fine example. The thing is that Russia does not treat us like a friend or anything. We're just in a sosoish relationship with them. So much more can be achieved by pro-Russian integration instead. As for car production, I can see it coming to Serbia. But our wages won't be those of the West, by no means. Our wages won't even be those of Hungary or Poland. It's a race to the bottom, when it comes to wages. The industry will move to Serbia and then it will move down to Kosovo, where labor is much cheaper and plentiful. That is what the EU is about, making money, not development. Unless if you consider development to be a colony... you clearly do. Not that you want Serbia to be a colony, but you think that this will help the current situation, you and many others who have fallen for this propaganda.

Russia has every interest to see Serbia in the EU. Russia's liberalization of automobile imports from Serbia was purposely designed to bring in more automobile companies from the EU to build plants in Serbia and then import to Russia for about 70% of the regular price.

Furthermore, Russia signed South Stream Pipeline deals with Italy, Hungary, Greece and Bulgaria who are all in the EU. Having Serbia into the EU would only help Russia with the pipeline deal.

Russia is not anti EU, Russia is anti NATO. Russia sees the EU as a partner in economy. If Serbia can become a country where those two meet.. then it suits everybody.

Not so fast!
Lets take this step-by-step first. Considering the strength and active support from “some EU countries” to the anti-Russian lobby in the Serbian government the South Stream Project may be canceled. Russian may not have all that much interest to pamper Serbia and keep giving them any further preferential treatment. Why should it?
