Are we forgetting that Joe Biden is a Serb Hater from way back. He has always been pro-Kosova independence and was one of the biggest hawks in pushing for the bombing of Serbia. If anything, both Biden and McCann will be much stronger advocates for Kosova than Bush. So, no matter who wins, Serbia will find itself without friends in Washington once again. Both Democrats and Republicans will insist on Serbia recognizing Kosova's Independence or else no EU or NATO membership. In eight years, if Serbia can hang on, there might be a chance, but by then both Kosova and Albania will be members of NATO and the EU. And then, you know what that means for Serbia, a big fat Veto against any membership in the two big clubs.

Dardan: "Thanks to your post, McCain is getting my vote."

With a tag like 'Dardan' I would have thought that you would be aware of McCain's Albanian links. If my post has swung your vote, hopefully awareness of his paid lobbying activities on behalf of a group until recently on the American list of terrorists, will swing many more votes against him.

He has a direct link to shady characters such as DioGuardi who openly campaigns for a Greater Albania and subsequently lost his seat in Congress.

Not that many people in the know would want him representing their nation, especially as he can be bought so readily.

We also have to remember that under an Obama Administration, Holbrook is more likely to be Secretary of State than under McCain. There will be little change in policy regardless of who wins the election, but at least we can take comfort in knowing the Balkans are largely being pushed onto the EU's plate.

In all likelihood, we'll probably see Kosovo enter a "Bosnia" phase in which everyone agrees the region is divided, draws a political line, and agrees to a dual state entity so long as Serbia does not actively work to undermine the overall security of Kosovo.

Kate, I did have my doubts about McCain and the whole age thingy, and was a little sympathetic towards Obama. Thanks to your post, McCain is getting my vote.

Though so. That kind of crushes your theory.

Because US follow principles and not political party interest.
Get over it. Kosovo is free and will be a stable country. It is matter of time when Serbia will grasp the reality.

Which means the Serbian people have to hope for a win for Obama since he is more balanced on the issue of kosovo province and serbia compared to the war freak in the republican ticket.

Once Obama is in office, his ties to the Serb population in Chicago will be of little help. In addition, he is far less likely to combat those in Washington who have already made their opinion on the Kosovo situation known. If the Serbian people have any hope for a sympathetic voice in Washington it will be McCain who marches to his own tune and not someone who will simply sit in office and hope not to offend anyone.
