The minister has a rather narrow view of abuse of monopoly. It is also an abuse of monopoly to hinder competition by disturbing its supply lines or by obstructing a new competing shop by opening a shop of yourself next door. The only way the minister can show that there is no abuse of monopoly is by showing other supermarkets chains that are doing well.

The Miskovic empire has brought nothing to Serbia but high prices and low quality. He and his company have successfully warded off any foreign company from coming into Serbia such as Cora. Also, our lovely minister's wife works for Delta..talk about a conflict of interest!! Shameful and disgusting!!

Well, I'm happy that I can go to Delta City instead of Mercator. Also, Tempo seems to be good value and have most things so I'm not really complaining.

bganon, so what did you have before these Maxi and Tempo stores? I don't remember anything coming close. Of course, as far as I'm concerned, competition should exist but business should also be able to expand.

When I was growing up in Melbourne, Australia, I remember the place was overrun by 7/11 stores.

^ The minister seems to ignore the fact that Miskovic also owns Pekabeta and C-Market and all the major distribution networks. Or that Delta is planning to merge with Croatia's Agrokor whose Konzum, Velpro and Idea stores have a small presence in Serbia. Not only that but he faisl to ignore that Miskovic also has been planning and still plans to buy or merge his company with Merkator of Slovenia which has a significant presence in Serbia.

Not only that but this minister also ignores the fact that Delta uses foreign registered firms to acquire assets in Serbia. Who know what in additioon to his known assets he knows.

This minister also ignores that judicial officials have called for an inquest into Delta regarding monopolies.

This minister should be fired as soon as possibly, it is not his job to defend businesses in this way but to make sure that trade is inline with the law and to represent the citizens and it is clearly through Delta's market position that the laws are not respected and citizens for the most part disagreee with what Milosavljevic says.

One can also add that economist have made reports in which they say that Delta's control of the economy makes the average price of goods at least 40% higher then they should be in Serbia.

Nice attempt by Milosavljevic to muddy the waters on Miskovic.

Everybody in Serbia knows that Miskovic's supermarkets have a monopoly and it is not the job of a government minister to defend Delta. It is the job of a government minister to represent citizens of the country, although Milosaveljevic appears to think that businessmen are more important that ordinary people.

Where I live there are 4 supermarkets within 15 minute walk radius. All of them are owned by Miskovic. There is no alternative for us. I suppose I must be in the minority and everybody else in the city centre has a wealth of supermarkets to choose from....
