reading all these comments leaves the impression, that ...

... more than 50 percent of Serbian voter must be in favour of Kostunica

... at least 100 percent of Diaspora Serbs are in favour of Kostunica
(rolerkoster, 8 September 2008 08:47)

Let's change the words:

reading all these comments leaves the impression, that ...

... more than 50 percent of Albanians must hate everything Serbian and wish Serbia bad luck

... at least 100 percent of Diaspora Albanians hate everything Serbian and wish Serbia bad luck

The truth is of course neither. But somehow I feel, it is much easier to "agree to disagree" even with most vehement nationalist Serbs than with more "moderate" Albanians. Emerging nationalism and waking-up patriotism was the norm in 1848. Guys, it's 2008 now, with all these Fanny Mays and Freddie Macs collapsing, Albanian and Serbian souvenirs being made in China, cold-blooded ka-ghe-bishnik running Russian politics (while stealing it's economy) and all uncertainity, does Afghanistan belong geographically to North Atlantic or not.

"This was not possible, because we did not know where he was," the former prime minister explained.

"did not" as of past tense, as of he knows where Mladic is NOW? How can you talk to someone in regard to surrendering when you do not know where the person is? I guess this means that the so called democratic gov. of Serbia knows where Mladic is?

certainly dont want Albanians here.

I don't have this perception dave!!! Actually I have a lot of friends and feel being loved!

However, I prefer to see more like the joint British-Swiss investment of 1.2 bn € in the port of Vlora rather than emigrating in UK. I guess you agree with me.

Rick i hear what you are saying, its funny because most of us in the UK want out of the EU, We have seen the rise of the right wing(BNP), gain seats in local councils even beating the main parties. The EU for the common man is over rated.

TO all who wish to come and live in the UK once the EU door is open, you will be given the worst jobs, We are not that tolerent as our goverment makes out, and alot of people are anti Islamic and certainly dont want Albanians here.

Having just been in Srbija over the last 3 weeks, it was so hard for me to see the "loss of rationality" concerning Kostunica. People are seemingly mezmerized toward Tadic's (EU's)promises, and away from Kostunica's logic, morals, and his love for Serbia. Kostunica is not against cooperation with the West, or the East- only that he wants Serbia to be respected, both in sovereignty and in politics. Yes, he his a staunch nationalist for Serbia- or a "better" term- a patriot. And why wouldn't you want a leader of his caliber and experience protecting Serbia, rather than such a controversial person such as Tadic- who we do not yet know where his "true" intentions are. And now is the time that Serbia NEEDS patriotism- not to be one of the West's quisling statelets. Serbia- listen to what Kostunica says and warns us about. I wish that we in America had a politician with as much courage and moral fiber as Mr. Kostunica.

"Her citizens in South Ossetia were in danger, her peacekeepers as well", says Kostunica. Has he forgotten that this was the case in Kosovo at the beginning of 1999 too? The citizens were driven out and the peacekeepers of the OSCE had to leave the country.
Why did he oppose Milosevic' politics at first and is now one of his fiercest defenders? The Chicago Tribune of Oct. 25. 2000 has an article: NEW YUGOSLAV LEADER ADMITS ARMY, POLICE COMMITTED KOSOVO KILLINGS. Three days later he took back his statement. The first position he needed to get rid of Milosevic to The Hague, the second to confirm himself as the strong nationalist he always was. Already in 1984 before the Memorandum of 1986 he subscribed a paper in which the Albanians in Kosovo are described as a threat to the Serbian nation. He'll remain the nationalist he was his whole life, only disrupt on moments on which he reacted opportunistic. That doesn't show any stability, just stubbornness.

Once again, words of wisdom from Serbia's best politician and best leader? Would Tadic ever say something like this and dare offend his boss Solana? No way. It just shows the difference in character between the two.

Kostunica is the very last person to talk about his failed policies. Remember he did not support Tadic in his election as President and he lost. He lost in his attempts to make a coalition with Radicals to forcfully for a majority while it was clear in the Serbian general election that he lost again. Blind nationalism doesn't get you and your polititians anywhere but FAILURE.

Once again Mr Kostunica is right. He is the only Serbian politician who has courage, strength, dignity and credibility to raise his voice against inflicted injustice to Serbia and bravely oppose bizarre politics coming from the EU and USA.
