To Joe and the rest of the Albanian posters here.
Just think back to Vietnam.
US helping pro Amrican Veitnamese and Russia helping pro Russian.
Who won in the end?
Now apply the same thing to Kosovo.
US helping Albanians and Russia helping Serbs. Who is likely to be the victor?

As much as America likes to beat it's chest and say how wonderful their marines are, they just don't deliver.
Afghanistan is far from over, if it ever will be. Iraq is a lost cause and all the meddling America did in Latin America has not paid off.
Without Russia Germany would still be occupying Europe. It certainly wasn't the Americans that liberated Auschwitz even though the flew over the place and did nothing.
The only thing that America managed to win was Japan and that's only because they had the bomb. Guess what, Russia has the same thing now.
You cannot win a war from the sky. You must commit your troops on the ground. We can all see how much progress America and her allies has made in the conflicts they are in now.

Don't fall for the propaganda. Just look at their track record. You will be more impressed with the Russian one.

"Vice President Dick Cheney, at an economic meeting Saturday in Italy, blasted Russian actions in the war as an "affront to civilized standards" and said Moscow has given "no satisfactory justification" for invading Georgia."

"Justifications" to invade and occupy Iraq (a souvereign nation): WMD (never found), to "liberate" the Iraqi people" (over one million additional people died and more anti-American than ever) from Sadam Hussein (a product of short-sighted US policy when Iran was the bad guy), to secure oil supplies (because they do not want to save energy), to install a puppet government (and spy on them plus derail all kinds of efforts to have the occupiers leave the country), to boost the US and allies' economies by providing contracts to companies from these countries (Haliburton), to secure weapons sales, and so on. All the side effects are well-known and so a person like Cheney should keep a very low profile and not criticize Russia. I feel sorry for the world (and the Americans) that they may likely vote for a guy who hates a lot of people and countries and who may start more wars in the future. We are living in dangerous times in a world that is going more crazy.

I have heard that Russia is handing out Russian passports like they were candybars to anyone on the Crimea peninsula that can say 4 words in Russian. True or false?

The US is too smart to even contemplate a military confrontation with a resurgent Russia it defeated with peaceful means at the end of the Cold Ward. The current Russia is much weaker and will be defeated the same way but much faster. It should take 5-10 years or in the worst case 15 years. Again the whole thing will be decided by peaceful means.

All this is part of the renewed Russian expensionist, imperialist strategy. Because of it the new Cold War definitely started.

Did it start? Who told you? Reps?

In the remaining 2 months of the American election campaign many hesitant electors will recognize that tough times and new challenges require tough leaders like John McCain and Sarah Palin.
(Joe, 7 September 2008 13:29)

Joe... in order to win, the Reps need precisely just that: feel of "tough times" and "challenges". The "Muslim Terrorist" card does not work anymore, the "Russians starting the new Cold War" is the new song. It might work, but hope not.

In any case, Russians are a bit more tough and complex issue than bin laden.... and I don't see republican politics being a major victory there.

"TBILISI, Georgia - On the eve of a European Union shuttle mission to convince Russia to pull its troops back to prewar positions, Georgia's president vowed Sunday to regain control of two breakaway provinces with the help of "the rest of the world."

A month after the Aug. 7 outbreak of war in the region and weeks after a cease-fire was approved, Russian troops remain entrenched deep inside Georgian territory.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is due in Moscow on Monday at the head of an EU delegation charged with reducing tensions and ensuring Russian compliance with the cease-fire terms, which include withdrawing its troops to positions held before the fighting broke out. Russia says those troops are peacekeepers and that they are allowed under the accord.

Despite the presence of Russian troops on Georgian soil, President Mikhail Saakashvili said the West would help his country regain control of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the separatist regions of Georgia recognized as independent nations by Moscow last month.

"Our territorial integrity will be restored, I am more convinced of this than ever," Saakashvili said in a televised appearance. "This will not be an easy process, but now this is a process between an irate Russia and the rest of the world."

"Our goal is the return of our territory and the peaceful unification of Georgia," he said.

In Moscow, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who often taunts the West, insisted in an interview broadcast late Saturday that Russia was justified in its intervention in South Ossetia. He said there would be no cooling of ties with the West because the West depends on Russia's oil, gas and mineral wealth.

The West has been reluctant to provoke Moscow, and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said the EU did not plan to impose sanctions against Russia.

President Dmitry Medvedev declared Saturday that "Russia is a nation to be reckoned with" following its war with Georgia.

From http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080907/ap_on_re_eu/georgia_russia

Saakashvili must have lost his mind completely. Does he think that Georgia is Kuwait and that there will be a coalition of the righteous to help him and maybe start WWIII? Saakashvili dug his own political grave by following US orders to start the attack, thinking the Russians would not dare to do anything because of the Olympic Games. The only thing the US needs is a weak and divided Europe and tensions between Europe and Russia because of EU and NATO expansion. In addition, the US weapon industry needs new conflicts and tension to secure future sales.

It took less than 3 days for Russia to kick Georgia's but. Americans gave them military support, weapons, surveilance, etc but lost it in less than 3 days. Now US is trying to find out what terribly went wrong. Nothing, US just lost again. And when it comes to defeating Russia, nobody has never done it, especially will not US with 13 trillion $ debt, weak economy, racial issues, etc. So, pray and dont mess up with the bear.

You should save your rightwing comical garbage for your fellow Americans. The
posters on this forum are a lot more sophisticated and do
not adhere to any of these.
The hostilities in Caucasus are not part of Russian expansionism -as you're alleging -but have their roots in historic causes and the conflict has had several
historic precursors. What triggered the conflict was the Georgian invasion of South Ossetia. This cannot be glossed over.
The role of the US in the war cannot be understimated. It is well known that the US had a substantial number of military advisers in Georgia
since 1994.Also the US embassy in Tbilisi was excessively staffed with intelligence personnel. It would be extremely strange if all these experts had no information about Saakashvill's war plans.
US failure to condemn the actions of the Georgian president is a further indication of their involvement in the Caucasus adventure.I would go as far as saying that the War in the
breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia was a deliberate attempt by the US to break the ressistance of old Europe in its plans to admit Ukraine and Georgia in the Euroatlantic institutions and
complete the encirclement of Russia.
The republican presidentian candidate John McCain followed up by saying"today we're all Georgians".
Well, the old Europeans are not.

You are wrong, Alban. US military (soldiers) don't want to be Iraq or Afganistan either. Yes, the American soldier is superior to any in the world today, but they are not bullet-proof. Over 4000 American fighting men and women have died fighting against insurgents, not even an army. I would hate to see the results of a Russian/US confrontation, God forbid.

The US supported Albanians for their own selfish reasons, not Albanian reasons. Just as they support Georgia now because of the Nabucco pipeline. The humanitarian and democratic reasons they(US) promotes is really getting old and transparent. It's about stinking oil.

1000 + 300 are not my figures but American estimations for the war in 1999 in the heart of Europe against a Christian country ! What you are talking of is the resent conditions in the Middle East against a Mulim country in revenge for Ground Zero for the sake of oil ... You know the Golden Billion values very little the lives of Albanians , Viet Namees , Ossetians , Serbs , Georgians , Arabs , Afghanians and other "second rate" nations.

The rest of the rubbish you wrote here doesn't worth my comments. The last time Russia lost a war was as far back as 103 years ago. But after 35 years and then after 7 more years we twice revenged Japan putting them on their knees. One of the Russian Armies has once been defeated and massacred in 1920 in Poland. 19 years later Stalin revenged them and 6 more years later Russia conquered Poland.

Thus all wars where Russia was involved started and runned different but they all had the same final. So be careful with the Serbs. If some day we come there you will be dissapointed to see how little you mean for the Americans. You will see how impotent they are when it comes to RUSSIA.

Over 4000 have died in Iraq and the war will cost over a $trillion. We're still there. In a war with Russia, people would support the US Army even more. if 10,000 US Marines die, it means that they have taken 100,000+ Russian with them. Never compare a volunteer and proffessional US Soldier with a poor Russian conscript who doesn't want to be there. Sure when a 12 300 tonn war ship delivers 17 pallets of Pumpers for the Georgian Army we may have doubts about the rest of the cargo shipped. But on the other side if you have a rabbit's heart inside you will desert any battle field no matter what you are armed with.

This is just what the Georgians did in August. 72 hours after Russia joined the Ossetians the Georgian Army lost any control and turned into a panic croud of scared sadists running from inevitable revenge for what they had done.

During 4 years the Americans were training them under the same program they had trained the Croats for their unfortunately successful attack at the Serbs. Same tactics of massacres and ruined villages was implemented by the Georgians.

But the time has changed with Eltsyn already dead. So Georgian Blitzcrieg brought them quite an unexpected finish. Moreover at least 1 million of Georgians living in Russia could see the true events and now they are dying of shame. I hope they will deliver the real truth to the rest 4 million of them deprived of the opportunity to see Russian TV and enter the Russian WEB.

70% of European Mass Media and 95% of those in the USA were lying about the events. But now the truth is step by step coming to the peoples.

They cannot shut up Russia like they once did to the Serbs. So they avoid discussions about Georgian crimes and talk us fairy tales of punishments for Russia. If some day Russia desides to punish Bush & Barroso guides folks they will loose their sence of humor forever.

"The whole NATO would stop to exist then because the Yanks were ready to have about 1000 killed while the Europeans could stand only about 300 killed."

USA spends 200% of your ENTIRE budget in the military alone and Russia knows this, so they will never mess with USA.

Medvedev said, "Russia will never allow anyone to infringe upon the lives and dignity of its citizens," adding "Russia is a nation to be reckoned with from now on."

This sounds so nice and I really wish our president Tadic had more strength to state and send such clear message to the EU/USA when it comes to Serbia and its interests.

Imagine Serbia or any other country playing EU/USA’s satellite role stating something like this, so decisive and so dignified.

Keep up doing the good work Russia!

papajohn,

The US is too smart to even contemplate a military confrontation with a resurgent Russia it defeated with peaceful means at the end of the Cold Ward. The current Russia is much weaker and will be defeated the same way but much faster. It should take 5-10 years or in the worst case 15 years. Again the whole thing will be decided by peaceful means.

Any person who even thinks about any kind of armed confrontation between the US and Russia needs to check himself/herself into an insane asylum or just commit suicide without taking any American lives with him/her.1 million American soldiers and all our warships and tanks mean nothing against one Russian short range tactical nuclear missile. The Russians have a lot more incentive to fight in defending their land than we have as invaders.Just ask the Germans who faced the Russians at Leningrad. You people even mentioning the word war are fools of the worst kind.

" Over 4000 have died in Iraq ... "

Also you may follow our manuevers in the Caribean region ...

I have heard that Russia is handing out Russian passports like they were candybars to anyone on the Crimea peninsula that can say 4 words in Russian. True or false?

Long live Serbia ! August 8 opened a new page in the history of mankind and we have much better chances to improve the defeats we both have suffered on between 1991 and 1999 !

My special thanks to the foreigners coming here to support Serbs ! Montenegrins , Russians and the Greek have to do this by our origin ! But I am always surprised and pleased to see here quite reasonable comments coming from the Anglo-Saxon world ! Thank you all ! We still have a chance that some day common sence will take the upper hand !

1. There are two different words interpreted into English as RUSSIANS. One of them ( РУССКИЕ ) means what you mean while the other ( РОССИЯНЕ ) means "Russian citizens" and this is what exactly Medveputin said !

2. Both Ossetians and Abkhasians joined with their historical lands Russia much earlier than Georgian Irakli-2 war able to persuade the Tsar to save the Georgians from elimination. It was not Ossetian and Abkhasian fault that the Communists included their Motherlands into Georgia. So please stop your Communist propaganda !

3. Many Russians like me back for McCain because we believe that the worse our relations with the USA are the better for Russia. You are strong enough to bomb civillian Serbs but it was your luck Russia has saved NATO from meeting them on the land. The whole NATO would stop to exist then because the Yanks were ready to have about 1000 killed while the Europeans could stand only about 300 killed. As you must understand such losses you could have after the first contact with the Yugoslavian Army. By the way could you remind me what other victory the Yanks had besides Granada ?

In any case, Russians are a bit more tough and complex issue than bin laden.... and I don't see republican politics being a major victory there.

yes, yes, very smart indeed, just have to see the result of wars started by the US, the effect of the subprimes and credit crunch in less than a year... so 5, 10 or 15 years is a rather long period...
