To Hruz:

Greece does NOT have bad reputation in the EU when it comes to neighbourly relations. You say it does, but unfortunately for you it does not.

Greece has perfect relations with the majority of the EU countries, and also the neighbouring countries, including Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, Romania and so on.

The only two countries Greece does not have good relations is 1) Turkey and 2) Fyrom.

Turkey simply does have very bad relations with ALL of her neighbours (Greece, Cyprus, Syria, Armenia, Iraq, Iran), because it is behaving like an aggresive empire of previous centuries.

It has bad relations because 1) of today's occupation of half Cyprus, 2) refusal to recognise the Armenian genocide, 3) invasion of her troops to the Mosule area of Iraq, 4) casus beli to Syria because of the PKK just 5 years ago.

FYROM also has very bad relations with ALL her neighbours, because of the blind nationalistic propaganda against neighbouring countries.

1) It has bad relations with Greece over the name - connected with blind propaganda against the Greek nation, 2) it has bad relations with Bulgaria for the same reason (Bulgaria still today does not recoginse "macedonian" people), 3) it has bad relations with Serbia because of their illegal "macedonian" church that was illegaly separated from the Serbian church and 4) it has bad relations with Albania because of the human rights violations of the albanian minority in Fyrom (last national elections and the organising terorrizing of the albanian population proves that).

So I prove to you that, Greece has only bad relations with the two countries that have bad relations with everyone around them, and perfect relations with everybody else.

Now, next time you will try to accuse Greece please use specific information and not just your "wish" about how you would like Greece to be related with neighbouring countries. Because your "wish" has nothing to do with reality as I proved to you.

And if you please mind, don't avoid to tell us your nationality.

To Peter Sudyka:

I honestly make the same wish with you Peter. Unfortunately the nationalistic propaganda by the the VMRO regime in Fyrom, does not offer space for compromise on the name dispute yet. As far as they behave to all their neighbours like enemies, and behave like balkan state of previous decades, compromise will be difficult to reach.

Pavlos,

Right, that is a really good question, outsiders ask.

Although acting out on another nation may be not the best way to improve the notoriously bad reputation in EU for Greece, when it comes to minorities, corruption, and neighbourly relations.

I have Greek friends and Slav Macedonians as well, and I heard Greece has an official position it has no Slav minorities in the north, which is obviously not true. Correct me if mistaken.

Too true. Thanks to Cyprus, Austria, France and other responsible EU countries, we will never see Turkey as an EU member.

I do wish, however, that Greece and FYROM/Macedonia/Skopja come to an agreement as two civilized European countries.

As an outsider I have no idea why the Former Byzantine (Greek) Republic of Turkey cannot recognise an official member of the EU (Cyprus), which it has occupied since 34 years, and it is still refusing to behave like a civilised country and not like a bunch of uncivilized Mongol warriors, exactly like they were some hundreds of years ago.

"Skopje must try harder"

Translation:

"Skopje must try harder to resolve the name issue with Greece, no matter if it will accomplish or has already accomplished the other criteria for membership"

It is up to the Fyrom administration to decide to leave behind the irreconcilable behaviour and really negotiate with Greece to find a commonly accepted name. Otherwise there will not be an EU or NATO membership even if 200 years pass. The situation is crystal clear: "Change your name, or say goodbye to NATO and the EU for ever. The choice is yours. Unfortunately you cannot have both."
