Of course it's a stupid comment. But there are many equivalents.

Didn't the Australian opposition leader recently say that an area in his home country was good for unattractive women because there was a shortage of females?

And as Niall says, what's the difference between this idea and mail order brides? It's all pretty horrendous and treating women like commodities, but at least there's some free will involved.

And there's a magazine solely for the purpose of meeting and marrying an Alaskan man, where there is a huge shortage of women.

At least Niall's fictional Milorad living at home with his parents would probably beat the tough life in Alaska.

This must be the funniest piece of news I have read in a while.
To continue on the same comic line, maybe he should give a call on this subject to the mini president. (small hint) The outcome would be way better.

Olf,

Chill out man. This problem is nothing new to rural areas be it in Serbia or Ireland. Its a well known fact that there is population drain in disadvantaged areas as the young (especially females) move to the cities for better opportunities. The lure of life on the farm is not what it used to be for young people like myself. I know what I'm talking about since I'm from a rural background myself and well, i'd rather be working in my current job where money & conditions is alot better than doing backbreaking work on the farm where life can be lonely and unrewarding.

That said I cant see how being shacked up with 50 year old Milorad on a small farm in Cacak who still lives with his parents can be appealing to a Thai mail order bride.

How can it be possible that Mr. Vasiljevic, a "hero" from the Balkan wars of the 1990s and a founding member of the "Guard of Prince Lazar" advances to the position of State Secretary?

Just to ask minister, who is going to come to marry Serbian villager when there no interest out of that. All they can gain is hard life in villages. I say that he must have been drunk to day that or he knows more about institutionalized human trafficking by Gov. of Serbia. They will marry Serbian villagers when Serbia becomes EU member maybe.

By the way, his comment should not be all ignored but should be studies as growth in Serbia is in deep deep crisis for some time now.
