ZK,

you know that the new Cold War started. Russia will greatly overdo it in the next few years. Following their aggressions with "lightning spead" their will be a second collapse with "lightning spead" because the West will organize itself again and win a second time.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said: "We think it is against the territorial integrity of Georgia and we cannot accept it."

NATO said it was a "direct violation" of UN resolutions, and U.S. President George Bush warned his Russian counterpart that his "irresponsible decision" was exacerbating tensions in the region.

Bush called on Russia to reconsider and "live up to its international commitments".

Good God, just listen to these immoral hypocrites!!! Where were those words when you were supporting albanain terrorism and separtism in Kosovo, when you trampled on international law, did not honour UNSC Resolution 1244, when you helped albanians cleanse Serbs from Kosovo???

Go ahead and keep flapping your gums, you are just showing the world what fools you are. Go ahead, cry me a river Kouchner!!
Bravo Russia, keep on doing what you are doing, keep on exposing these duplicitous clowns for what they are, Serbs are behind you 100%!!
Cheers!!!

Peter, you seem to be going too deep into the issue. I simply believe Ukraine needs to tread carefully because it has a lot at stake that Russia can exploit. It is free to join NATO but most likely at a high cost - just like Georgia.

Losing Crimea is very likely if you ask me but not just yet. These are not unexpected political maneuvers but I must admit that I am very impressed with Russia's lightning speed. What NATO achieved in 10 years, Russia managed in a matter of days.

Now that is impressive.

Peter,
you're seeign Serbs cheer a bully attacking other (Orthodox) countries. Hardly a consistent stance on their part especially since Georgia and Ukraine. Should US now payback Russia by arming the Bosniaks?

The fact that the Ukraine seeks backing from the West should come as no surprize considering Russia's aggressive policies lately, not to mention how Ukraine was treated by Russia in history. They are a free state and have the right to live free from fear of offending Russia and suffering the consequences.

Crimea has autonomy within the Ukraine, the same as what Serbia was offering Kosovo. If Crimea attempts to break from the Ukraine and Russia supports it, it will more than likely be Russian aggression rather than the Ukraine's fault if it comes to any kind of war. The other regions are just regions with more Russian speakers than Ukrainian, this does not mean all of a sudden that they are entitled to independence.

If Russia takes this sort of attitude with Georgia to the Ukraine, they will find themselves up against a much stronger opponent than Georgia, and more than likely intervention from NATO at that stage.

Let's hope that Russia softens their stance and stops with the Soviet-like approach of the 50's. The USA is indeed a hypocritical and aggressive beast, but Russia is acting even worse.

The bear has awoken and the Ukraine needs to tread very carefully. With the overwhelming majority in Crimea supporting Russia, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the "Kosovo precedent" spreads to this country.
