It amazes me how a person could stand on a podium in the middle of a thunderstorm with an umbrella and say to the people "What a bright sunshiny day we are having" and everyone will start taking off their rain coats.
UNSC is dead to Serbia-Kosovo issues unless the Serbian govt caves. The ICJ, if anything, will be a very big surprise for those who are anxiously waiting.

“It would specify the formation, as well as the mandate of the international civil presence, that would involve the EU’s participation under UN auspices, within the framework of Resolution 1244, without compromising Serbia’s sovereignty and without the authority to implement the Ahtisaari Plan,” Jeremić said.
An absloute wishful thinking. That would be turning the clock of history back and war.

Serbia is surrounded by Nato countries and candidate countries: why should Europe be desperate to ally with it against Russia? Remember in 1999 when Russia couldn't get permission for overflights into Serbia? And the Hungarians inspected every truckload of "humanitarian aid" that crossed their borders? It's not a strong position Serbia finds itself in.

You just worry about getting the 96 countries needed to approve your ICJ move Mr. Jeremic.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves now. What would you be saying if all of a sudden a big rush of recognitions from the Muslim world and the US dominated island states came knocking just days before the UN General Assembly?

Lili: "It would be fun if the ICJ says "let's have a referendum about it,to see what the will of its citizens is!""

As Kosovo remains legally part of Serbia under UN Res 1244, any referedum would have to be for citizens throughout Serbia. Good idea - go ahead!

“Serbia could make a breakthrough on the diplomatic front as early as the autumn: with a decision on Kosovo’s independence declaration by the ICJ..."

Well, I guess he refers to the UNGA adoption of the draft request for an ICJ advisory opinion. And not to the ICJ final opinion.
According to ICJ case law (ICJ website), the release of an opinion takes between 7 months (Palestinian wall, 2004) and 9 years (Nuclear weapons, 1996)...

Me.Jeremic’s statement makes lot of since.EU and US are finally coming around to face the mistake they have created in Kosovo.I have said this before and I am saying it again. The only why this huge blunder created by EU and US can be fixed is with Serbia and Russia being totally satisfied.Russia has already proved her point in Georgia.I am sure K-Albanians don’t like to hear this, but they need to live with it, as they like to say “this is new reality on the ground". Word of politics changes when you are least expecting it. Obviously “status quo” is not sustainable. With new cold war looming on the horizon I think West will do just about anything to keep Serbia on there side. Thy can’t afford to lose Serbia. After all there was talk about placing Russian missile shield in Serbia. Kosovo strategically has nothing to offer to the west. Thy are only financial burden on them.

Kosovo's recognition is unstoppable and there WON’T be a table of negotiations with Serbia. Kosovo will welcome any talks about trade, customs, sports, economy, education etc with Serbia, but let me be clear here one more time, Kosovo is a country now and if Serbian government thinks that there would be negotiations with Kosovo’s authorities on Kosovo status then they (Serbian officials) must be out of their minds.
It’s a done deal and there is no going back.
See you on EU, Serbia, if you smart enough.

What really worries me is where does Mr Jeremic find the courage to so blatentely lie to the Serbian people.

Then again, he would not be the first Serbian politician to do so.

God bless ...

It seems as the time that International Community has given to this new Serbian government to consolidate is running up. They have consolidated in eyes of Serbian population while Radicals and DSS nationals are quietened.
Soon the time will come when this government will tell people of Serbia that ICJ will deal with Kosova issue and that this should be considered as a success and this will take sometime. Meanwhile, people will forget Kosova issue, government will not deal with the issue that brought down Milosevic and all other governments of Serbia and recognitions will be completed. By the time when Serbia will choose to look a the Kosova issue again, Kosova will be ready for UN seat and that is it. My estimation is that the entire process to last for 2 years.

by the way, Malta's respons to Jeremics effort tells how important is ICJ for UN members. I wonder what is Jeremic down at this moment.

either B92 is misspelling what Wolf Jeremic is declaring or he and his government are in a total confusion. It is the right of Serbia to use all the means to block Kosovo´s reckognition, but is clear and Jeremic shall inform the public that it is impossible to get Serbia and Kosovo again on the negotiation table about the independence. The only "chance" Serbia might have in September in UNSC is the totally mess and confusion Russia created with Georgia. This situation, provoked by Sovjets, can make some countries hezitate about the Kosovo issue. But not the decision makers such as USA, GB, FR and Germany. I would suggest Jeremic to apply for another scholarship in diplomacy. This time in Moscow

The next step should be to get rid of the Secretary General.
He has shown no respect for the very law he is supposed to uphold. Sort of like a crooked cop. We have a body which investigates cops and exposed corruption at all levels.

Goodbye SG.

Wow, what optimism. The general assembly will decide to send the issue to ICJ they will hold hearings and render a 2-3 year decision in less than 45 days.

There is only one way to 'negotiate" Kosova and serbia once again and that's through rifles, Mr. Jeremic knows this better that any one else, because he majored in international law. So Mr. Jeremic you would do a big servis to your people if you recognised Kosova as Indipendent country ASAP.
