Defense calls for Šainović’s acquittal

Prosecutor Tom Hannis said that despite the fact that there was no direct or key proof – such as a plan for displacing Albanians or confessions from one of the accused – the material evidence of the crimes in Kosovo confirmed the claims of the indictment that there had been a “criminal undertaking” and that Albanian civilians had been removed from the province in “a significant number.”

Hannis claimed that the NATO bombing in March 1999 had enabled the accused to carry out their plan in relative secrecy, but that the plan to remove Albanians from Kosovo had been created in the spring of 1998 by Slobodan Milošević, and would have been carried out regardless of the NATO bombing campaign.

He said that the evidence for that claim was that Serb officials at the Rambouillet and Paris talks in 1999, “were not willing to discuss a peaceful solution in good faith.”

Serbia accepted all aspects of the Rambouillet agreement accept for NATO's right to occupy and move around all parts of Serbia. They agree to the ceasefire, improving political rights and other aspects of the agreement.

How is this not operating in Good Faith?????

And wasn't it Madeline Albright who was quoted as saying that they set the bar too high in the Rambouillet talks so they could have an excuse to bomb Serbia because the talks failed. How is that Good Faith????

It is hard to believe that when the K-Albs were so keen to destroy the Serb heritage in Kosovo. It therefore must be of some importance to Serbia for the K-Albs wanting to destroy it.

I am truly amazed that people who obviously are interested in this topic are so ignorant of the trial itself. OPERATION HORSESHOE was revealed at the trial to be a hoax, cooked up by NATO 9specifically Germany) to support a faltering public opinion as to the bombing campaign. Prosecution witness Fred Abrahams admitted this at the very beginning of the trial 2 years ago. Several other Prosecution witnesses likewise corroborated that no such plan existed, including Prosecution witnesses who were so-called "insiders".

Shame on you for attempting to perpetrate injustice based on your ignorance of the trial's record.

Good lesson for generations to come in Serbia and region.You play with life of humans and you end in hell.

How else can you explain 90% Albanian population to only 10% Serbian?

Get real, if there was any ethnic cleansing it was the other way around. Figures don't lie. How do you explain percentage of Albanians in Kosovo being higher after the conflict and percentage of Serbs being lower?

Cygnus, as far as I can remember it wasn't Albright who said that didn't say that the bar had been made purposely too high for Serbia in Rambouillet. Instead it was the British foreign minister who said that when after the war the British parlianment had hearings on the Kosovo War.

Operation Horseshoe was the reason to convict all six war criminals. It was planned well in advance, at least by early 1998.
The coordinated maneuvers of the Serb Army, MUP, Serb paramilitaries as well as Greek and Russian mercenaries was recorded by spy satellites. This is proof enough to hang all of them. In addition, all the testimonies taken from deportees on the ground from all over Kosova puts the last nail in their coffins.
