Well Duro, that depends. Is the French conservative party closer to Le Pen than the socialists? Perhaps.
Is the British conservative party closer to the National Front than to Labour. I don't think so.

But is it smart for a mainstream centre right party to get too close to the far right party, particularly when that party is so much larger?

That is another question.

Think of it this way bganon the conservative right parties band together and the socialist left parties to the same? Why should DSS have any feelings towards DS when they don't share their social democratic views? In a normal democracy coalitions are usually made up of different parties who share at least the same political ideology, the current government baffles me with its..."diversity". All for the sake of EU right?

Hardly necessary really as we all know that DSS abandoned their policy of equidistance between DS and SRS long ago.

If SRS manages to keep DSS close the former will succeed in suffocating the latter. Maybe its what they deserve anyway.
