Michael John, I didn't know that all those homeless children in America had a computer. No lunch, but definately a computer.

Now, all you Albanian posters here, please stop trying to distort what is written here.
Where do you see Serbia blaming Albanians for lack of internet usage?
Please, do point that sentence out to us.

Reading again:

"the only countries in Europe that use the net less are the Vatican and Ukraine".

Question: were countries like Moldova, FYROM, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey (it's partly in Europe), Kazakhstan (it's partly in Europe), Belarus included?

Serbia lacks such a big number of large cities like Harkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Donetsk, Lvov.

Looking at the rail network of Ukraine

versus Serbia

- it looks even worse for Serbia.

Obviously, fast internet useage is tied to major cities. I am sure, rural Serbia looks much better than rural Ukraine and speaking of capital cities: Belgrade is probably well ahead of Kiev.

Rural Europe in general is significantly behind of USA. Try to reserve any rural hotel in USA by sending an e-mail or do the same anywhere in West Europe. Good luck waiting for e-mail response from, say, a rural Austrian hotel (esp. in English!)

As someone whose work is the internet I found the article strange. There is virtually no connection between the level of security and the use of internet. The use of internet depends on price and availability of broadband - two issues connected with Telecom policy.

Motivated hackers will always find a hole to attack a system. A website that has been attacked will usually bring its security up-to-date. There are some extra costs and there is some downtime. But that is it: nothing to be too alarmed about.

As for the Ukrain: a 20-fold growth is not sustainable. B92 might better have a look HOW they achieved such a high figure.

Stop being so irrationally over-sensitive.
The article isn't blaming anyone for any of Serbia's issues. There actually was an issue with Albanian hackers a little while ago. It isn't an excuse to blame it on Albania or anything - it is simply an issue they cited.
And in America, not all schoolchildren have their own computers. Maybe in Beverly Hills or something, but not all children. To say otherwise is hogwash.

Unbeleivable! Yet for another time the "unbiased" serbian press and officials when it comes to something that's negative for their country managed to squeeze the notion that somehow Albanians are part of this problem or they are causing it!

Mr. John, maybe the guy isn't accusing other countries but giving exemples of internet attacks. I really don't know how you came up with these conclusions but try to read better next time without stereotypes, thanks!

Really, Michael John? It's good to hear that American children are so competent! Which can't be said about president Bush, or presidential candidate McCain, who himself admitted he didn't know how to use a computer.

It would be nice if each Serb PM had a laptop and knew how to use it.

In America all school children have their own computers and use them with a high degree of competence!

Computer security is a country's own responsibility!

Why is it that Serbia's shortcomings are usually blamed on the Albanians or her other neighbors?

Isn't time for Serbia to take responsibility for its actions and deeds or lack thereof.

How does Serbia expect for Europe to take her seriously if she continues to whine about those things she brought on herself!
