Peter, I respect your view same as you respect my.

I believe that ICJ is not the real reason nor the Serbian diplomacy for sudden stop of Kosova Independence, it is something else which we will learn very soon. However it is nice to see that you acknowledge the fact that after the ICJ ruling large number of recognitions will come and that is no surprise for you or any Serb.

> During the UN mission ... one Ukrainian police officer was killed, while a further 64 UNMIK officers, 24 KFOR troops, and several Serb demonstrators were injured.

Several serbs? B92, there were about 70 serbs injured. Several doesn't quite cut it.

> Western diplomats have confirmed ... but that the soldiers and police acted within their mandate.

Pity these 'western diplomats' didn't take into account the 'reality on the ground' as they & others did when the K-albanians declared their UDI back in February. That declaration was also outside UNMIK's mandate & by this logic, should have been 'squashed' there & then.

Attempting to use this argument now in justification of Rossin & Ruecker's idiotic mission on March 17th also doesn't quite 'cut it'.

Nehat:
> B92; why havent you listed the 120 Albanians that were injured during the clashes?
120 albanians? Clashes were between serbs & UNMIK/NATO. Drinking jungle juice?

> This was the first attempt to anex Kosova ...
Hmmm.. definitely high on something.

Was a riot that ensued when UNMIK clowns in pristina decided against all common sense in general, against their superiors at UN HQ & the advice from their local chief in K-Mitrovica in particular to raid the courthouse there & arrest a group of protestors.

> In reality nothing is changing, it only look like something is changing. At the moment it feel as if Serbia is in some kind of diplomatic offensive,

I would say that no diplomatic recognitions for nearly 2 months & with no change likely until & if the ICJ makes it's ruling is more than just a 'feeling'.

Is more like a deafening silence.

Or.. limbo.

> Back to this topic, report on the 17 March riots says that UNMIK forces used unnecessary force, but lets not forget that the UNMIK police used force to protect themselves from Serbian rioters.

You have things completely out of context. From what I have read, report criticises the then UNMIK leadership in pristina for the decision to launch the raid itself - & not for UNMIK/NATO actions during the riot.

Raid was utterly irresponsible (perhaps criminally so) & should never have been attempted under those circumstances.

That is what the authors of the report meant by 'the use of unneccessary force'.

> This report is not correct, we all know, but I must stand to satisfy some Serb politicians.

When you cannot even understand the criticisms made, you are hardly in a position to judge are you.

Not that it really matters given this statement which clearly shows your real agenda.

'We all know' no such thing.

The Swiss

It is very important for people of Serbia to feel as if the wind is turning.
In reality nothing is changing, it only look like something is changing. At the moment it feel as if Serbia is in some kind of diplomatic offensive, but I think that Serbian diplomacy is taking steps that every diplomacy would take, because there is nothing else they can do. I just wonder what is going to happen after this offensive, especially if this offensive turns not to be successful.

Back to this topic, report on the 17 March riots says that UNMIK forces used unnecessary force, but lets not forget that the UNMIK police used force to protect themselves from Serbian rioters. If you see the statistics of the injured and dead you will easily see who was the threatened party, but guys something must support Serbian part sometimes, so there you go. This report is not correct, we all know, but I must stand to satisfy some Serb politicians.

Can you imagine if we had Russia, China, India and Rumania ruling the international stage and law. This world would be a horrible place to be. See they way they are ruling their countries than you’ll get a better picture. I am not saying that it is perfect the way it is but what are you suggesting I would never take, so goo luck to you.

Nehat, I'd suggest to take a look at tose politicians as Kissinger,Nixon! What the americans say about them with that war in Vietnam?Good politicians? Today the americans say about Bush and Rice they are the worst politicians in american history.Your only rightfull land could Albania and another option is the authonomy within Serbia.

Nehat if you think that the justice in the world is in the US hands you are right, but at the moment and above all in the future it wouldn't be more in this way .Do you know Russia, China, India, Brasil and also some States of Europe??Usa are not more alone!!!!

Something everybody already knows but that will now be officialy confirmed! The wind is turning and will only increase the pressure on the hotheaded politicians who thought to challenge the very basics of international laws!

Nehat,
Rice and Bush say a lot of things.
None which have any baring on reality and most which are just plain lies.

I'd seek alternative opinions in this case.

This was the first attempt to anex Kosova, and i'm sure it will not be the last. Now that we have a defence minister i'm quite sure things are going to change, as you all know we the Kosovars got the green light in Washington last month. When Both President Bush and Secratary Rice said that no part of Kosovo will be taken from its rightfull people.
