"little reason to celebrate such Pyrrhic victories."

Not so sure, the entire calamity can be called a "victory" to begin with for Croatia. I see tough, several "former" communists have nothing against fascism. A big shame but hardly surprising.

As far as Croatia being superior... most prices in Croatia are already "SUPERIOR" to Serbia or Hungary. Not sure about the rest. But we of course will go, still a great place to visit.

The only thing I get out of this is that Mesic, the Croatian government, and various elements of the Croatian media are just as likely to use cheap shots against other states and selective reporting over particular events as any other state in the region. I wouldn't be all that upset over things like this were it not for Croatia trying so hard to prove their moral, cultural, historical, and social superiority over their "brothers to the East" when in reality, they're no different. If ethnic cleansing is the price of one's liberation, there's little reason to celebrate such Pyrrhic victories.
