Kandic is really the best that serbia has to offer. she always says: "it is not me that they hate, it is my message..." in my opinion, it IS her AND her message that the extremists hate. but i hope! that as time goes on, people will see what an incredible person she is.

yes, we did meet her (it wasn't that hard!) and photograph and interview her. but for my current work (in progress) i excerpted a piece from TIME europe -- by carla del ponte, of all people -- who pays tribute to her, several years ago, as a dynamic hero, of serbia and of the world.

it is not true that she only works for non-serbian victims, but it is true that much of her energy has been devoted to victims from kosovo/a, particularly albanian, who were terrorized, whose families were massacred by the terror forces that slobo sent in to "deal" with the "rebels." were it not for kandic and her ilk, no such trials would have taken place in serbia -- she pushes, pushes and pushes -- she is (apparently) fearless, she will not be intimidated; in short, she is a fabulous role-model, for girls as well as boys.

i have pleaded for b92 to carry the words of such activists and intellectuals, and at least today they did (a few.) let's make it a habit...

anyway, today is a great day for the balkans, and let's keep moving forward, instead of backwards! karadzic is finally in the hague. we have waited so very long, and many of us never quite gave up the hope.

thank you.

"no person who has committed war crimes can be freed from criminal responsibility,” she said.

She of course conveniently forgot to mention that it only applies to Serbians. (ZK UK, 30 July 2008 12:07)

you think: "no person" refers only to "Serbians" ...

I can't recall Natasa et al ever spoke about Serbian victims. I am so disgust of these so called humanitarian right activists. They never worked on helping out any Serb on any issue. Mrs Natasa Kandic has no credibility of speaking about humanitarian rights after slapping a refuge from Kosovo during the protests held in Belgrade in 2003 or 2004. The refugees were only asking where are the missing K-Serbs,where are thier belowed ones.

You guess the charges against Kandic or better Kandiqi never got to see the light of the day.

That much about the justice and human rights that these activists refer to.

But sure, by claiming that Serbs suffered great loss as well and by insisting on equal justice for all there would be no possibility to be ever considered for Nobel peace prize that Kandic is hoping for so much.

Why does B92 publish what this anti-Serb has to say? I couldn't care less what she has to say, as well as the overwhelming majority of Serbs. Most Serbs absolutley loathe this woman, and the rest of her gang.
I say to Kandic, please move to albania, croatia, bosnia (muslim/croat part), or the US, since these are the only people who actually like your comments, and agree with your views.

I think Natasa Kandic is the MOST honest high ranking Serb in the the entire Serbia.

I wish her a bright future.

If she were to go to politics and become a Serbian President or PM along with Cedomir Jovanovic, Serbia's path towards the INEVITABLE the EU and better relations with the region and Western world would be far shorter.

Although some may believe that I am being biased, however, everyone knows that Serbia in one way or another is focused towards the EU, but the present government, even though it is not the worst, still will be delaying the EU integration.

Serbia NEEDS to forget hypocratical rhetoric, on which excels, and focus towards honesty, boldness and humbleness...

Still time to go...

to ZK UK.

Although I think you are young BUT when you grow older and build on your famous rhetoric you have a guaranteed job at SRS or DSS...

So you can safely return to Serbia and in couple of years time get involved in politics...

Cheers

“The society needs to understand and accept it as an obligation towards the victims, the domestic laws, but also as an obligation to fulfill international standards which state that no person who has committed war crimes can be freed from criminal responsibility,” she said.

Why don't you tell that to the parents of the children killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ms. Kandic? And to the surviving relatives of the victims of Thaci and Haradinaj? What is the difference?

Natasa is right, once again.

And all I can say is that in great part, due to the fact that the nationalists in the press and in the church still have great influence over society.

But with the gradual modernization of Serbia, these influences will tend to diminish.
