Ruben, the west is trying to stop Serbia from goint to ICJ. They have asked Serbia not to do it, but short of dropping bombs on them again, what can they do?

The fact that they are asking Serbia to abandon this shows they are not confident of their victory.

I wonder what he's speech would be about,I mean what story he'll use to get their backing in Kosova isue...until yesterday Serbia was trying to convince the west that they were fighting muslims and protecting the cristianity, and now he goes around the arab world trying to get support, they must be stupid to eat that up,well, unless he's good on magic tricks I don't see how that's going to happen.

ICJ's opinion will be on the favor of Kosovo's independence but without endorsing the "ethnic principle".

It will see it a similar process with the one that gave birth to dozens of countries in Africa, Asia and Middle East after the WWII.

Kosovo has the right to self-determination and ICJ will recognize that.

(It also explains why the West is not moving to stop Jeremic on this.)

Appears you have some catch-up reading to do (post #28):

And the real question here is how the international community will deal with the 'Kosovo issue' should the ICJ rule against the reasoning behind the K-albanian UDI.

One of the founders of Non-Aligned Movement was TITO, usually serbs dont really like Tito at all, so why would the serbs want help from an organization founded by Tito. This shows what kind of poor politics serbs do. The serb policians are trying to get help in the name of Old Yugoslavia and in the name of Tito.
I bet when Jeremic goes into these Non-Aligned countries he will be like " Remember Tito? remember how good he was in the non0aligned movement..." and so on.
But poor Jeremic doesnt realize that the world knows that Tito is long time gone and that a totally new reality has taken place in the Balkans.
Thanks

Not at all Ment, if the ICJ endorses the "ethnic" principle, we will then proceed with independence for RS, and, hopefully, bring back the issue of Krajina independence from Croatia.

If the Greeks are keen to get a chunk of southern Albania, I'm all for that too.

Matthew ...

I don't think Russia will ever be in the EU, not if Poland and the Baltic republics have anything to say about it. Also, the EU does not deal well with bullies in its midst. Lastly, I'm not even sure Russia wants to be in the EU to begin with.

Stoning Rolle ...

Since you do admit that Kosovo is lost to Serbia, then what do you define as "victory" for Jeremic? I just don't see how that can be a productive outcome for Serbia. To loosely quote a passage from the book "The 7 habits of highly effective people"... what good does it do to successfully navigate through a forest, if you're in the wrong forest to begin with?

Matthew

Appealing to the Non-Aligned Movement is a smart move. Clearly Serbia historically, traditionally and geographically has been the bridge between East and West.

Serbia should stay neutral until East meets West and Russia takes its rightful place in the EU and brings balance and a strong voice to the opposition in Europe.

If the EU is to survive as a country, the power and influence of the big Western powers needs to be curtailed.

Do we want a United Europe where all countries are equal, or just a United States of Germany?

“And you tryed to wippe all the albanians from Kosovo. So where does your morale comes from ? Or your law ?
(Adam, 29 July 2008 15:18)”

Adam, I could say the same thing about the Albanians of Kosovo, not only did they “tryed” to “wippe” out all the Serbians, they were successful in most parts. Your Black & White view of the Balkans is the root of the issue.

Considering the initial hopeless position:

barely support for Serbia beside Russia, noone honestly believing Serbia cold keep Kosovo and serb-radicals really not easing Serbias' attempts but obviously spotting a bad light on Serbia, on the other hand strongest support for Kosovo by US including the demonstrative accolade for Kosovo-politicians, one can only come to the conclusion:
Jeremic as the key-figure of Serb diplomacy has done a really respectable job.
It prooves a Harvard-Education is worth every penny!

Although you have to keep in mind that Kosovo-politicians are a complete failure with no idea how to move on diplomatic parque.

With only some 40 countries recognizing Kosovo. Some of them hardly to be found on the map, is a first-class diplomatic victory for Serbia and Jeremic in particular.

Considering his young age me(knowing Kosovo is lost for Serbia) can only say, Jeremic is Serbias' best man.

Respect Vuk, you did it!

And Mr.Jeremic why you always talk about international law and moral ?.. You and your country are the last ones to talk about the law or moraly beheving. Your country made a dissaster in Balkan and killed all it's neighbours. You got ''republica srpska'' by ethnic cleansning. And you tryed to wippe all the albanians from Kosovo.
