It's quite obvious someone like roberto - who is attempting to paint himself as a moderate - is spreading hate.

Furthermore, he promotes selective justice and would have preferred that Milosevic wasn't even defended.

Yes, I read the Milosevic transcripts and when Albanians claim they were ethnically cleansed but couldn't answer who asked them to leave then isn't that suspicious? And that was just the beginning.

Roberto, your anti-Serbian stance is getting a bit extreme.

I absolutely disagree with every poster so far, and Geoffrey Nice most of all. did anyone of you really follow that "nice" trial of milosevic? how he bullied people, how he made fun of witnesses, screaming accusations, running the courtroom as his own little show -- of horrors?

i've been to the hague twice, watched a number of trials including that of oric (the one whom most serbs cherish so highly...)and never did i see anything like the obscene travesty that slobo's trial became. yes, Nice was prosecuting, presumably doing a decent job, but milosevic ruled the roost. witnesses arrived from all over the former Yu, esp. kosova, poor and semi-illiterate farmers whose families were butchered by those "nice" security forces that slobo sent to that so-called break-away province. don't even get me started. some of them could barely stand up, but there was old mafiosa slobo threatening, keeping current with all the "intelligence" that his loyal sources sent, every day, from belgrade" "Isn't it true that your village was a KLA stronghold!!" he would bellow.
can you imagine, what this poor witness had to go thru again, after being dragged there by the tribunal?? has anyone out there ever watched "judgment at nuerenberg"? do me a favor, rent it, and watch how the german post-war defense attorney goes after the victims/witnesses, exponentially adding to their misery and abasement. now imagine slobo or karadzic -- sorry, dr. david, another sociopath, competing as sadistic tormentor. it is so sick.

no, i do not trust these judges to "rein in" the defendant. i plead with the tribunal: do NOT allow this defendant to act as his own lawyer!

Anyone know how reliable the postal system is in Serbia? I bet the dictators have their fingers and shoelaces crossed.

Power to the people I think.

RE: Milosevic Case-Court Appointed Lawyers

This article is completely false, Slobodan Milosevic was not allowed to bring his own lawywers from Belgrade.
He was initially not allowed
to represent himslef and court appointed lawyers were forcibly required to join his team. Later, Milosevic was allowed to represent himself and cross examine , but the court appointed lawyer stayed on the defense team and would cross examine also. (That my friends is a circus show)

Milosevic did have a team of laywers he did confer with but they were stationed in Belgrade, never were allowed to represent him at the actual Hague Tribunal court.

Finally, Milosevic on more than numerous occasions was cut short on his cross examination. Many sensitive proceedings were moved to closed camera by the judges.

Finally, he was murdered just when he was going to open his defense and call to witness high profile witnesses such as Clinton, Albright, Blair, etc.

This is not a court of law , but a martial court in another country. Guilt has already been abjudicated, justice has not.

I agree with Mike. Karadzic is going to be funny just as Milosevic and Seselj, there nothing else they can do, they have hands full of blood of civilians.q

The only reason why some people in the Hague are hesitant to allow Karadzic to defend himself is that they fear he's going to do too good a job defending himself. If they think they're going to get Karadzic as "deer in the headlights", they abolutely wrong.

Milosevic actually looked like he was having fun at the Hague, filibustering all the time and twisting the statements of witnesses around, and the judges didn't know what to do.

And Seselj? I have no personal love for the man and really wouldn't want to walk into the same kafana as he, but he's dumbfounded the judges and prosecutors on more than one occasion. It was almost funny watching the whole proceedings on TV when I was there.

Karadzic will do the same. The man's a psychiatrist, so he knows what questions to ask and how to respond in kind. The Hague certainly does not fear for his competency. They fear he'll turn his case into another spectacle that will drag out until he's coincidentally found dead in his cell.

This guy's been hiding for 13 years. I want to hear everything that's been going on since then right from the horse's mouth. And I'm equally sure there are plenty of people that want to question him directly.

"the experience of that trial, and others, such as that of Vojislav Šešelj, could lead the judges to “deciding to compel Karadžić to take a lawyer, if he oversteps the mark during his defense.“

In other words, if Karadzic makes them look bad like Milosevic did, the Hague will want to do damage control for their kangaroo court.

Go get em Rasho, now you will get to answer all those accusations.
