Preemptive apologies for my country's decision to place its Toys of Mass Chaos in Poland's back yard. With any luck, Obama's victory in November will open a new chapter in how we relate to "rogue" nations (read as Iran) and such Cold War-like policies will finally become a thing of the past.

I'm pretty sure the US has anti-missile missiles loaded on their startegically positioned nuclear subs than can do this defense job. This is a bit of overkill on D.C.'s part - anything to keep that US government military complex going.

Dear Peter
don't use the word NATO but use instead USA..
Here in italy all the political force have disagree with this US policy but obviously in a quite way..
If you will say No to uncle Sam here we will be satisfied...
So easier money to the kosovan force also because we would like to send our troop home ..
tanti saluti...

I believe that Poland should continue to drive a hard bargain when it comes to these missiles. We are one of the biggest contributors to NATO (our troops make up a big contingent in the Balkans, in Afghanistan and especially Iraq, where we command one of the four sectors), all we ask is an upgrade in elements of our military which are still according to Soviet standards. What I don't get is why NATO wants to invest in the security forces of Kosovo and not in the forces of Poland who has contributed so much to NATO's missions in the past.

If America is so desperate to build their missiles in Northern Poland, they should not have a problem in the price that we have asked (which is a fair request).

If not, they should go and build them in Kosovo, since Kosovo owes far, far much more to the US than we do. I just wish the Czechs weren't so quick with the radar.
