Sejdiu, just to repeat, that Serbs realize and have always known and will always know that Kosovo is Serbia.
This fact does not change.
An occupation is a temporary illegal situation.

Iliri

pre 15 godina

Please note dear Serb’s, Italian’s or any other Kosovo commentators that Sejdiu is talking about the Serb’s in Kosovo. Not about you lot.
Is clear that you don’t have a hint of what’s going on, or either the finger-puppet masters in Belgrade.
By the way what happen to your stories about an Islamic state in Balkans? Are the churches in Kosovo burn up? How many people got deported back to Belgrade?
Hmmm not a sign... I wonder why?

italy

pre 15 godina

Mr Roberto,
It is very shallow to promote multi ethnicity where people do not want to live with each other. As a Jew you should better understand it from the case of Israel. But you are lucky, for now America will not rip you the half of the country to give it to Palestinians: they did it from Serbia for Albanians now. I am really waiting for the day to see the half of Israel given to Palestinians. The half of it.

roberto

pre 15 godina

I am sorry, Mister Italy, but it is not shallow to promote multi-ethnicity, and learning to live together with your fellow human beings (and fellow animals, for that matter.) do you think,if there is a heaven (and i am not very religious or so strongly zionist, i just mentioned that to ID myself), that god has it divided by ethnicity? please tell me that you agree with me that such a notion is ridiculous...

now, i have no desire to argue with you, tonight, about balkan politics -- i've been doing it for years, and we seldom manage to convince one another about much. i simply wanted to make a case for promoting humanism, in its best sense, and to point out that all societies these days are multi-ethnic or multi-cultural on some level, like it or not.

our only other choice is to constantly engage in "ethnic cleansing," something not very appealing to most of us.

i just ask you and othes to think about it.

Mr. Sejdiu- the "reality" is that 75% of the countries in the world still do not recognise your "independence". You can be an "Albanian Cheerleader" all you want but......THAT'S the REALITY!!!!

italy

pre 15 godina

Mister Roberto from Frisco,
you live in America and if you do not obey the American laws, you know yourself you can walk out. Your relegious zionist beliefs you can cherish at home or singagoge. The point with Albanians on Kosovo is that they never showed intentions to obey to the laws of Serbia, and what happened later , with the help of the country you live in, we know the consequences. Please do not project "harmonous living" of your neghbourhood onto other environments with different historical and cultural backgrounds. You sound shallow, even thouh maybe good minded, but even good mindedness of foreigners on Balkans have proved to be hypocritical. Sorry to tell you, but to me you sound like those sport journalists who used to go to Sarajevo to report about the war, and eventually finised writing books about Bosnian history in order to buy a flat! I invite all the people here, who like to comment through internet on Serbia because maybe they are bored in their everyday life, to read books and papers before dealing with the topic. Thank you.

yes Sejdiu, I think Serbs must start to realize new reality. That reality is described by a newly issued book "Hiding Genocide in Kosovo", A Crime Against God and Humanity; by Iseult Henry. This book is issued by the
"American Counsil for Kosovo"
and endorsed by a influential 'Huffintgon Post'.
Kosovo Godfather Tachi and American bunch of gangsters will be finished when just some more people get to know the facts.
Buy the book from "American Council for Kosovo", and if you haven't heard as yet,get to know the reality in Kosovo.

Kudos to both Louie and Roberto for their comments. I may not agree with what you guys say all the time, but this time, I'm with you 100%

Louie, didn't even know you hailed from Pec. I'm sure you've been to, or at least seen, the Patriarchate. I was sorry not to have been able to go there when I was in Serbia. A colleague of mine went and the pictures she brought back were beautiful.

The so-called Kosovo Serb Assembly is as powerful and significant as the Serbian Krajina Government-in-Exile. Both of them have no armed forces or law enforcement. Both of them are boycotted by pro-Western Serbian parties. Both of them, in fact, don’t really control any territory of their own.

“Kosovo state will fail and eventually will be liberated and rule again by Serbia.”

But how it could be done, since more than 90% of the native population of Kosovo supports the independence and doesn’t want to be governed by Belgrade anymore?

first of all, what I found the most funny comment:

"Give Kosovan Albanians a chance,Give Peace a chance and you never know, one day all the bad things will be forgotten, one day we will live together!!!
(louie, 20 July 2008 17:00)"

louie, Albanians never had a chance, as long there are Serbs on this planet, you won´t get away with your stillborn illusion! that´s something you can rely on!

until now, all you got is the mere illusion of being independent.
you have what could be called substantial autonomy, but in regard to the status, nothing changed. just think about it, the two thirds of the world who do not see any independent state in you, or the recent suspending of the Albanian volleyball-organisation...

you must be a champion in denial if you do not smell it...

instead of being smart and realizing what is indeed reality, you are cheering and being happy when someone like Sediu who does not even know to adress the public in english when being in Washington, talks about his own imagined "reality" - and you seem to believe it! :)

to funcake: no problem "to enter" Kosovo ... it´s serbian anyway! stamps are something for little kids to believe in... :)

I wonder this little man named Sediu didn´t fantasize about killer-tsunami´s ... :)

cheers!

"I know I am one in a million that believes that Albanians and Serbs can live together in Kosovo,I know the situation now is very difficult, but believe me it will get only better if we think positive!
Give Kosovan Albanians a chance,Give Peace a chance and you never know, one day all the bad things will be forgotten, one day we will live together!!!"
(louie, 20 July 2008 17:00)

as always, louie, i appreciate your optimism. of course serbs and albanians can live together in peace and relative harmony, they've done it in the past, they can do it in the future.

i live in a multi-ethnic society, imperfect as it is. my frnds belong to many, many religions and nationalities, hundreds, and are of different colors and textures -- it is normal. i count among my frnds germans and arabs (incl palestinians) which is not always easy, since i am a jew and (critical) zionist. sometimes we have differing opinions about things -- but so what? what kind of ghetto shall i live in, where we all look alike, think alike?? that is impossible, it is pure fantasy, and a bad one at that.

HOWever, there is one strong caveat -- in a post-war, "transitional" society, there are so many fresh scars, and such bitterness on all sides. healing does not come easy, ESPECIALLY when so many voices around you promote hatred and separatism. ths is why i am so outspoken about (ethnic) hate speech, because it encourages such negativity. not to mention certain politicians and certain countries' institutions...

but even as bad as it is, and it is, we on an individual level can come together, to live our everyday lives, share our personal joys and sorrows, whatever group we belong to. don't believe the voices that tell you otherwise.

i also hope that those of us that believe in the reality of multi-ethnicity (instead of just mouthing the words) need to be active in promoting it, on whatever levels we can.

I gotta agree with Serb posters in this one! statements from mr.Sejdiu are worthless,Kosova citizens want action and not just talk from mr.Sejdiu, and government should make clear to Serbs in Kosova that the only way for them to live in peace is by obeying the law

Gojko

Belegrade will betray Kosovo Serbs!! Maybe it is best for the Serbs in Kosovo to not accept but accept independent Kosovo (if that makes sense). They need to live peacefully because in the end they will only have the Albanians and themselves to rely on. The Serbs in Belegrade will betray Kosovo sooner than later. History finds a way to repeat itself. It is easy for a Serb like me, politicans, or other bloggers that do not live in Kosovo to say what is best. The Serbs in Kosovo are the ones that live there and they need to do what is best for them and not Belegrade. Belegrade could care less aour the 100,000 Serbs in Kosovo. They are using the Serbs in Kosovo like toys.

I am surprised when I read comments related to the past (mainly written by Serbs or foreigners who don't know anything about this region). The reality is that a Newborn country called Kosova is on the map. Some citizens might not like it, but hey, what can you do. Life is short, you shouldn't waist it thinking about mother Serbia, or Father Albania...Kosova is here to stay and K-Serbs will shortly recognize that Belgrade will not be able to dictate their life. Sedjiu must still be giddy on the attention he received in Washington to come to the conclusions he did.

In actuality, Serbs in Kosovo are seeing the realities as he says, and are responding in kind with the creation of the Kosovo Serb Assembly. Further recognition of the realities will further the creation of such a parallel government to the point that it will move from de facto to de jure reality by the time a definitive compromise over Kosovo is reached in order to move the region forward.

There's no doubt there is a clear distinction between K Serbs who take their marching orders directly from Belgrade and K Serbs who want more independence for their own actions, but this should not be interpreted as Serbs wanting anything to do with the regime in Pristina. Nor should it be seen as the multiethnic La La Land as dictated by Pristina.

As always, Sedjiu's comments are more rhetorical soundbytes than anything substantial. No wonder the Bush Administration gets along so well with these guys.

Marinel

pre 15 godina

Lets put this into perspective shall we...
Kosovo is promised independence by the Western powers, partly because of the impass between Beograd and Pristina, and partly to put to rest the regional hotspots by the powers in charge.
In order for this Kosovo statelet to be viable, it has to integrate the serb minority into its culture and guarantee/protect minority rights, be fiscally responsible with donated funds, improve the economic structure of the territory and last but not least cease any and all claims to other country's territories (Presevo, Macedonia, Montenegro, etc)
Now for the reality check... serbs in Kosovo are between a rock and a hard place but will play the same game the K-Albanians played during the Yugoslav-SCG era. the ultimate goal will be to create parallel institiutions, discredit the current Kosovo government, and draw international ire to the current Kosovo administration.
In order to be fiscally responsible, Thaci & co will have to show how and where the money will be spent, with a sizable portion of the funds going to efforts of improving serb conditiions (Sorry but that is how it is done in the USA and the West, something akin to affirmative action). How will Thaci explain that to his cohorts? I would love to be a fly on that wall!
Lastly, the ambitions of a greater Albania or further Kosovo like UDI's from neighboring countries is squashed PERMANENTLY (I didn't make this up, just read about the USA and EU stance that Kosovo is a UNIQUE situation). So like it or not the K-Albanians and albanians in general are stuck in limbo for now, with dim hopes of realizing any great future for themselves as a nation. Moreover, all the regional Albanian troublemakers out there better come back to reality and start working with their respective governments because NOONE is going to help you "free" yourself, not NATO, not EU, and certainly not the UN.

Sejdiu must be very delusional when making such statements based on lies, far from the facts on the ground. Of course such statements are made only for the average K-Albanian consumers of the daily politics. I think it is high time for the Albanians to realise that Serbs will never accept to be under war criminal’s umbrella in Pristina and therefore they have full right to run their own parallel system under Belgrade’s umbrella. Serbs won’t be doing any differently than Albanians did in the past.

As for the EU pressure on Serbia that Mr Sejdiu hopes for, I will just say that there is no pressure that Serbs cannot stand it. But I highly doubt that there is going to be any extra pressure ordered by Sejdiu so highly respectable persona in international political circles.

The new Serbian assembly in Kosovo and the Albanians flocking to get their Serbian passports while they can is the new reality.

The partition will only strengthen and the Albanians will become more isolated and destitute while their leaders make exotic flights to the US to share some bedtime fairy tales with their masters.

You have people like Funcakes talking about sending Serbians to jail because they want nothing to do with Disneyland but allow real criminals - the ones burning churches to run free.

The "Kosova" reality is a nightmare and it's only natural that Serbians have nothing to do with it.

Good Luck Albanians in your own isolation.

There is nothing radical in protecting Serbia's territorial integrity. On the contrary, it is Serbia's right to protect it's borders. Even further, it is Serbia's duty to protect it's borders and not allow this dangerous precedent which destroys international law and transforms Europe into a new wild west.

kufr

A partition is a bad idea in many ways and it would be a better deal for the Albanians than for the Serbs. But a negotiated partition is still the best solution. Maybe not for Serbia, but for Europe. It would settle this matter in a civilized manner and send signals to hot spots in Europe that terrorism doesn't pay off. The signals sent out right now is the opposite, which of course is very dangerous.

The current situation suits U.S. very good because they don't want a strong Europe. EU is digging it's own grave by supporting Kosovo independence!

I dont see the way the Serbs from Kosovo could integrate into Thachi government, if Serbia proper will never recognize Kosovo. And let's not even begin to mention their visits to Serbia. Serbia will annul the Kosovo departure stamps in the passports, but how are the Kosovo Serbs going to re-enter Kosovo...if their departure stamp has been removed?

And indeed, when tax time comes, they're gonna need to make it to the order of the Kosovo government.

And if they don't pay, well, good luck sorting it out with the EULEX.

i live in a multi-ethnic society, imperfect as it is. my frnds belong to many, many religions and nationalities, hundreds, and are of different colors and textures -- it is normal. i count among my frnds germans and arabs (incl palestinians) which is not always easy, since i am a jew and (critical) zionist. sometimes we have differing opinions about things -- but so what? what kind of ghetto shall i live in, where we all look alike, think alike?? that is impossible, it is pure fantasy, and a bad one at that.

The so-called Kosovo Serb Assembly is as powerful and significant as the Serbian Krajina Government-in-Exile. Both of them have no armed forces or law enforcement. Both of them are boycotted by pro-Western Serbian parties. Both of them, in fact, don’t really control any territory of their own.

“Kosovo state will fail and eventually will be liberated and rule again by Serbia.”

But how it could be done, since more than 90% of the native population of Kosovo supports the independence and doesn’t want to be governed by Belgrade anymore?

Mr Roberto,
It is very shallow to promote multi ethnicity where people do not want to live with each other. As a Jew you should better understand it from the case of Israel. But you are lucky, for now America will not rip you the half of the country to give it to Palestinians: they did it from Serbia for Albanians now. I am really waiting for the day to see the half of Israel given to Palestinians. The half of it.

Reality imposes itself on the ground.

Just by their vehicles alone, they will be required to have new Kosovo license plates...or face the bells in an Albanian court.

It's their choice if they want to be part of the future or go back another century or so back.

Yes it is a new reality in Kosovo. Now serbs are in "opposition" and will not rest one second until the illegal Pristina government is defeated and international law has been completely recovered.

It is now Tadic's responsibility to do everything in his power to protect the territorial integrity of Serbia. If he fails to do so then he must be replaced.

Daniel

This comment just distanced his people from Serbs more. Reality is not the light at the end of the tunnel, it's the the walls and the matter outside the walls too. The Kosovo Albanian leadership is only interested in the light refusing to pay attention to that part of reality it does not want to see. He actually thinks that's what Rice and Bush want to hear. In reality, they are probably laughing at him.

I dont see the way the Serbs from Kosovo could integrate into Thachi government, if Serbia proper will never recognize Kosovo. Serbia's constitution says Kosovo is part of Serbia, even the current Prime Minsiter Cvetkovic epressed Serbia's unwillingness to recognize Kosovo as an Albanian state on Serbia's territory.

I feel these comments by the K-Albanians in Washington are to tell the US what it wants to hear, in reality the UN chief has said relatations between Serbs and ALbanians has got worse not better. It amazes me how the US can call Bin Laden a terorist then deal with KLA former terorists. Double standards there i think. NO suprise why most of the world dislikes the US

There is nothing radical in protecting Serbia's territorial integrity. On the contrary, it is Serbia's right to protect it's borders. Even further, it is Serbia's duty to protect it's borders and not allow this dangerous precedent which destroys international law and transforms Europe into a new wild west.

Marinel

pre 15 godina

ZK UK

pre 15 godina

"Give Kosovan Albanians a chance,Give Peace a chance and you never know, one day all the bad things will be forgotten, one day we will live together!!!

louie, Albanians never had a chance, as long there are Serbs on this planet, you won´t get away with your stillborn illusion! that´s something you can rely on!

until now, all you got is the mere illusion of being independent.
you have what could be called substantial autonomy, but in regard to the status, nothing changed. just think about it, the two thirds of the world who do not see any independent state in you, or the recent suspending of the Albanian volleyball-organisation...

you must be a champion in denial if you do not smell it...

instead of being smart and realizing what is indeed reality, you are cheering and being happy when someone like Sediu who does not even know to adress the public in english when being in Washington, talks about his own imagined "reality" - and you seem to believe it! :)

to funcake: no problem "to enter" Kosovo ... it´s serbian anyway! stamps are something for little kids to believe in... :)

I wonder this little man named Sediu didn´t fantasize about killer-tsunami´s ... :)

cheers!

No wonder the Bush Administration gets along so well with these guys.

you live in America and if you do not obey the American laws, you know yourself you can walk out.
