miri thats a sweet thing to say. It goes to show that although we may disagree on a big issue like Kosovo that we can treat each other with respect. Its a pity the same can't be said of those who are supposed to be closer to me in some way.

BTW I think true democracy is the point when there is differences of opinion, not blanket unity among a supposed group - like the US for example and their supposed war on terror.

And don't worry about treason accusations! People like me in Serbia are not on the back foot any more, its the other side that is on the receiving end. If I'm a traitor so is a narrow majority of Serbians, although admittedly you would never think this on the English part of the site. Peace.

Peggy: "ZK, It's obvious that bganon would gladly give up on Kosovo before having a harsh word said against her preferred party. "

If people in Serbia had spoken and acted like bganon, Kosova would still have been part of Serbia.
Since people like you have been governing Serbia, Kosova had no choice but to depart.

bgnanon, thanks for your beautiful message.

(And for the record, so they don't accuse you for "treason" or be-friending an Albanian, I disagree with you on Kosova's status).

ZK and the moon is made of cheese. You know words become meaningless when though a lack of argument you say that your 'opponent' is guilty of what he is against. Easy to say, but completely meaningless.

Peggy, thanks for the comment. I've said many harsh words against DS before. But harsh words are ridiculous, the point is to criticise not with harsh words, but with a wider point. 'Tadic is weak' is for the mindless mass. 'Tadic is controlled by his PR advisors' is a little better. Better still is 'Srdjan Saper has far too much influence on DS party policy and Boris Tadic'.

The latter is the kind of language I'd use.

Kostunica talks like a lawyer, not like a politician. As a lawyer/judge he may object against the SAA on all kind of principles. But as a politician he has to ask himself what he wants to achieve.

Postponing the SAA will just delay Serbia's EU integration for a few years. I cannot see any positive effect that it would achieve for Serbia. If you expect the EU to explicitly condemn the policy of 20 of its memberstates you don't understand how the world works.

Serbia has other tools to achieve its Kosovo policy: it has the support of many countries, international law on its side and a minority situation in Kosovo that doesn't justify independence. Making impossible demands towards the EU will only weaken Serbia's position.

ZK, It's obvious that bganon would gladly give up on Kosovo before having a harsh word said against her preferred party.
To some people it seems that honest evaluation of some politician's performance and commitment to a cause is far right or even racist.

Tadic is weak and it's ok to say it out lout. More people have to say it. Just because he managed to cling to power doesn't mean that he is doing the right thing by Serbia. People can be deceived more than once.

EU is not worth losing your country. Today Kosovo, tomorrow who knows what. It is not racist or ultranationalistic to protect your country.
America is a shining example of greed and deceipt and yet some people still see it as the greatest democracy and somehting to buddy up to and aspire to.

Those that bomb the defenceless in the street on account of their nation of birth, those ignoramuses that quietly support these actions, justifying in their mind the bombing they are witnessing. The people that don't support the right for a minority view to be voiced. The people that are always on the button with the uneducated majority, that use populist language and emotional jingoism as a means to fool themselves as well as others. Those that constantly abuse others, when not physically, then verbally.... Those that constantly blame somebody else for their problems, whether it be hidden forces, arabs, muslims, serbs.... I could go on.

Thanks bganon, but you do support the very type you despise.

I am unprincipled? How? I am pretty damn consistent and hold everybody to the same standards. Even you can't deny that (nor could Albanians, Croats who may disagree with my views on other issues).

No, the unprincipled ones are those that believe that 'their' people should get more at extent of somebody else. The people that don't practice universal standards, who want jobs for their own 'kind' and are intolerant of outsiders / minorities.

Those that beat their wives, those that beat the defenceless in the street on account of their choice of orientation, those ignoramuses that quietly support these actions, justifying in their mind the beating they are witnessing. The people that don't support the right for a minority view to be voiced. The people that are always on the button with the uneducated majority, that use populist language and emotional jingoism as a means to fool themselves as well as others. Those that constantly abuse others, when not physically, then verbally.... Those that constantly blame somebody else for their problems, whether it be hidden forces, jews, freemasons.... I could go on.

Those that hold these types of views are invariably on the extreme right. I'd say it would be pretty hard to support the right wing when opposing them. What are you suggesting that I become a ultra right wing nationalist and this will defeat them? I'm sure that will reduce the popularity of the extreme right.

How many times do I have to mention that I am not surprise by the actions of political parties? I am criticising your unprincipled views, that's all.

I did not suggest that a party is prepared to bomb countries back to the stone age but the invisible people behind the DS.

It seems to me that what you despise is actually what you are supporting without even knowing it - the masters of deception! You are supporting the extreme right and I can assure you that the DSS are nowhere near it.

bganon

Its debateable whether DSS is the third party in Serbia ZK. Not including NS votes they may only scrape past the census, we just don't know. But we do know that we were forced to listen to their rubbish for months and the public rejected it.

SPS did not steal votes from DSS. DSS has been stealing votes from SPS for years. Check out your history. Milosevic even accused Kostunica of such moves and was right in this case. This ongoing flirtation with SPS voters has been going on for ages. Now DSS has given up trying to steal DS and SPS votes and has moved on to suck blood from SRS by being even more patriotic than the patriotic party.

Yeah right, on what do you base your accusation that a party will bomb countries back into the stone ages. Have they done it? Yeah, another scientific, factual statement ZK. Well done.

I find it normal that Serbian political parties manipulate and use their voter bases. Big deal. Grow up and start understanding that this is what political parties do. I will try to hold them to account but SPS is so discredited its not worth it.

What I don't like about DSS, simple really they lurched to the extreme right. I hate the ultra right. They are populated with intolerant extremists who have views more in common with neo-nazis and skinheads. Its no wonder Davidovic backed your coalition. If my dislike of the extreme right is irrational, thats a price I will just have to pay.

The DSS is the third largest party in Serbia so it seems a considerable number did vote for them. Should we now just ignore them and perhaps listen to the new dictators of Serbia?

The fact that the SPS did well through deception and stole some votes from both the SRS and DSS just goes to show how low your preferred party will stoop to gain power.

Really, it's not surprising, I have mentioned many times that the people behind the DS will do anything and everything to gain power. They will even bomb countries back to the stone age if need be.

As you find it acceptable for the SPS to actively deceive its voter base and all to your knowledge, what exactly don't you like about the DSS bganon?

bganon

Bla bla bla. I would suggest that party political statements of a minor party in parliament is not so newsworthy and hardly worth reporting on.

If the Serbian people mirrored the DSS view they would have voted for them at the election.
