What a surprise, not!

You are right Nikola, anybody who voted for SPS has been made a fool of. Still, its not like you did not know this could / would happen.

Perhaps this cold water might make you realise the difference between reality and hoping something is true... The reality was that SPS was always going to go with the DS coalition. All of this pretending was fake.

The SPS has sold its soul and its only means of survival is within the grips of its captors.

When it is no longer useful, it will be chewed up and spat out - and the west will hail the end of the Milosevic party.

See its quite funny.. the SPS thinks by "looking to the future" and selling there entire original manifesto that they will gain votes for years to come.

That couldn't be further from the truth. They will NOT pass the threshold at the next elections... hell, I doubt they'll pass it if there is a new Belgrade election unless they form a pre election coalition with the DS.

As far as the SPS electorate.. the nationalist wing will be split between the DSS/SRS and the minority of SPS voters that actually support this U-turn to Tadic will end up voting for his party at the next election.

Thus.. ending the SPS.. shame this was the first elections where I was eligble to vote.. and like a fool I voted for them.

(...However, the Socialists find forming a city assembly majority with the Liberal-Democrats (LDP) "unacceptable",...)

the SPS have caved in and dropped its deal with the SRS/DSS.

Now Tadic will probably press the SPS to cave in completely by threatening again to end the coalition at the state level and allow for repeat elections to take place if the SPS allow for a repeat of the local Belgrade voting.

Thus the SPS will continue to swallow its pride and dignity bowing down to the commands of its new boss, and will team up with the "unacceptable" LDP, otherwise the SPS risks new elections in which it will be abandoned by the majority of those who supported them on May 11.

Unbelieveable! Dacic has really gotten himself into a messy, "losing face" entanglement with Tadic's demand for complete control of Serbia. Does anyone see "democracy" here at work? I believe, though, that this is Ivica's last chance to hold onto political power (deputy premiership) on the coat-tails of the most unscrupulous Tadic. I'm hoping for new elections in Beograd, where the DSS and SRS become the majority coalition (where they won't need the "two faces" of the SPS), and serve as a "check and balance" over Tadic's egomaniacs. THAT would be "true democracy", rather than the DS form of "autocracy" that they feel they can get away with.
