Russia opposes Croatian NATO entry

Well really, when you analyze it, how would the addition of Croatia and Albania to NATO enhance regional stability in Europe. These two counties are obviously interested in the benefits of joining this alliance, but how does it make anything safer in Europe from terrorist nations, whoever they may be? The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is really America's Extended Military Force in Europe, AEMFF. Wonder how DC would respond if Moscow started gathering countries to form an equally powerful military alliance to counter NATO? Maybe Russia, China, India, Serbia, moderate Middle East nations, could be a possibility. It could be called Anti American Aggression Alliance, AAAA. Every force should have a counter force. It keeps powers honest.

I completelly agree with this Russian position. What good does it bring to Europe this (under G.W.Bush) copletelly hysterical & paranoid expansion of NATO influence?
Who are they so afraid of?
The middle-east countries rich with oil who want to get rid of the American infuence and Americans screwing-up their lives for generations?
To start the war with them if necessary and play it off from Europe?Isn't that what is expansion of NATO all about at this moment?
Besides, neither Croatia nor Albania are enough neutral countries to have their voice
in decisions of this powerful millitary alliance.

when did russia had any say in what Albania does?? we can join any organization we want and even Kosova, and russia can not do anything about it.. russia joining WTO is a threat to security of the world. serbia too.. they should be banned and sancions in place for them.

Most of the things we do are in the favor of the whole world ! We are the only nation able to put an end to the American domination and each nation is going to gain much when we reach the goal. Look how China , India , Brasil and many other countries are joining our struggle against the USA !

There's no longer division for West and East. There's no longer West or even Golden Billion ! There are the US with their satellites and the rest of the World.

It is thanks to our politics Poland was able to bargain with the Yank. It is thanks to our politics US satellites changed their blackmail and discriminating policy against Serbia for offering carrots ! It is thanks to our politics many EU members now and then started to have private opinions of their own ! So everything we do is in favor of many people who sencerely hate us now.

Can anybody tell me why do NATO keeps 25 000 tanks or all those missiles and planes ? What terrorism they mean ? The only sence of the existance of NATO is Russia as the only bar for their hegemony in the world and every nation entering this hostile organization is not friendly to us.

The USA is going to use Croatia and Albania to counter Serbia in the Balkans, in this way they are forming a balance to counter any attempts by Serbia to take back Kosovo by force.

In the meantime we are back at the War For Oil ... The USA has so many "War on ... (insert anything here)" terror, drugs etc but the real interest is oil. Its a multi million if not billion dollar industry and who wins the pipline war into europe will the be ultimate victor.

The US and its puppet states will continue to encircle Russia, next attacking Iran and securing yet another huge oil supply (they are currently stealing Iraq's oil). So the main confict is between Gazprom and US Oil companies which are trying to build a dominant pipeline into Europe, through the Balkans. If the USA win then AMBO will succeed and the US will avert a financial disaster in the stock markets but if they dont then crash goes the US stock markets and Russia will reap the rewards of supplying Caspian Sea Oil into europe.

... The only difference between the two parties is that the USA us ruthless and provokes conflicts and wars to get its way while Russia is negotiating and using diplomacy. Divide and conquer US style or round table discussion Russian style ... Serbia needs to go Russian way and show that might is not right.

If you are so peace loving and helpful to other countries why is it that those countries are so afraid of you and your sable rattling? So this is reality versus your rhetoric. If you would act "mother Theresa type" the whole world would love and appreciate you. With your agressive, domineering character this is out of question. And your dream of leading China and India in a bloc is preposterous. China is so much more important than you. For me China is the only real important world power next to the US. India will be the third. The US has friendly relations with both. They don't treaten their neighbors like you treaten Georgia lately (Estonia, Poland before).
Hoping to lead China and India would look like Portugal wanting to lead France and Spain.

I don't get why Russia is concerned about Croatia and Albania joining NATO, nobody is forcing them to join, they are joining of their own free will, I don't get why this discomforts Russia so much (I mean come on, Croatia has a small, obsolete army and Albania does not even have any army equipment!). What is Russia going to do if Georgia and Ukraine push for NATO membership? They cannot enfore the hegemony of the past that they once had, because nobody wants to be a part of it anymore, except maybe Belarus. Even Moldova and Armenia have expressed interest in Euro-Atlantic integration at some stage, so what will that leave Russia with in 20-30 years time looking at their current political stance?

Russia should ease up and stop looking at NATO as a threat, the Cold War ended 20 years ago, or was Putin frozen under ice sometime in the 80's? Also it should stop imposing its will on ex-Warsaw Pact/USSR and current CIS states, as those countries are now independent and not a part of the Russian Empire anymore, and what they do is for their own interests and not a threat to Russia (let's be serious, who is truly capable of being a threat to Russia anyway?), and Russia should have no say in the matter at all.

NATO members can not state it openly but they all know that the expension is mainly because of the bellicous statements and treats coming from Russia. Your dear friend Putin tried to look very macho in the last few years treatening with his rockets. That was very foolish of him.
Europe and espacially the ex-communist countries and the Baltics remember how much they suffered because of Russia...not just in the 20th century but even before. Finally because of NATO they feel save. They cherish their freedom and improving living standard and want to defend themselves face of a neo-imperialistic Russia. Putin stated clearly several times that Russia's goal is the re-establishment of the old hegemony.
But the sadest thing about this grand posturing of Russia is the fact that they don't recognize the sovereign right of smaller countries to decide for themselves. They somehow feel that they have this divin right to push them around. Yes once an imperialist is always an imperialist.
Anyway Croatia and Albania will become members just like the other ex-communist countries before them. Georgia should follow ASAP.

in a wrong way. The right way would be to improve the terrible roads and dilapidated infrastructure and improve the life of the masses...specially in dying rural areas.
