Ben,

When will Croatia and the Muslim Federation in Bosnia acknowledge their crimes against Serbs during the last war? Why is it that Serbs are always targeted as being the aggressors? Please be fair and mention all of these governments when discussing atrocities. Why do we not hear about the 250,000 Serbs that were cleansed from Croatia and Bosnia? I know, Serbs were not as well organized and funded to influence media propaganda, but acknowledgement has to come from all sides. I suppose that this will always be difficult for governments that still openly support Islamic fundamentalism and post WWII fascism. I would suggest you read up on your history and study some more sources.

PJD,

This is getting better by the minute. I also see there a ministry for Spacial Planning?
Is it for colonization on the moon????

OK, here is a video of today's government session. Looks like Solana and Munter also made an appearance.

So the next question is how long does it live?

PJD

pre 15 godina

The full cabinet is here:

It isn't actually many more ministers than the UK has.

ZK UK

Come on, will someone at least congratulate this new government or doesn't anyone really support it apart from Solana and Co?

Lets see if the DSS/SPS can holding onto Belgrade for my arrival in 4 weeks.

I guess ZK UK is dissappointed that DS coalition is to lead Serbia. Also his return to homeland will be delayed from August to forever.
Kosova is an independent country, at least from Serbia if nothing else. Kosova will be assisted by developed countries, which will see in the next conference on Kosova by the richest countries. Kosova will not be anymore the black hole of Balkans.

Joe

pre 15 godina

Wow! 27 ministers!!! This is mind-bugling. Apparently efficiency is a very low priority in Belgrade. Well as a result more people are employed - I would skip "gainfully" employed - in a country with still high unemployment.
If I think that the US and France have both a dozen ministers only the total of 27 is pretty impressive.
I remember in the former Sovietunion there were some 75 ministries. Still that was a much, much bigger country.
They had separate ministries for light industry, heavy industry, foreign trade, domestic trade, agriculture, forestry, fishery, air tranport, rail transport...you name it.
I find that this "old world" is somehow still very much alive in Serbia.

Jovan

you are right, Olf: Kosovo is not an independent country.

and you are right too, Mircea. the Lisbon treaty will very likely not be applied in 2009.

both is good.

Stoning Rolle,

I must admit that I agree with you, even though not for the part that says that Kosova will never become UN and WB member. As for the development engine, you are also partly right, because the economic development is regionally tied and is functioning on chain bases, so, wherever we have chain brake off, we, as a consequence, have economic stagnation in the entire region. Thus, Kosova is as important in this matter as any other country in the region.

I hope Cvetković is more stronger than the weak Tadic with regards to the kosovo issue. but sorry to say this DS-SPS alliance will not last long and new election will be held. Serbia need an SRS-DSS goverment and a strong links with Russia, China, Belarus & other non western countries

CORRETION
Now I think that this government will not last more that 1 year especially when I have in mind the forced coalition by Russia (SPS-DS) and that they are still planning to deal with the Kosova issue, issue that brought down all of the Serbian governments so far. Serbian politicians should learn once and for all that Kosova issue does not bring them any extra point to them but it ruins them. Kosova is now Independent country recognised by nearly 50 most powerful countries and it should be seen like that by all the Serbs

"Modernization is fundamental aim"

again pure egoism and a lack of courage to say:

Modernization and reconciliation and acknowledgment of the past mistakes and atrocities, that we made to our neighbors in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosova.

Without acknowledgment of the mistakes and atrocities the Serbian nation will NEVER start the process of catharsis and hence the modernisation. Simple like that!

If you think I am biased, ask a Slovenian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Macedonian in other words as ALL other nations of ex-Yugo.

The answer will be the same identical as mine.

They cannot be all wrong and only your Serbs right- its absurd.

Mircea

The new prime minister and the people of Serbia can forget about joining the EU. The Lisbon Treaty will not come into force on 1 january 2009 and as a result the enlargement process is suspended.

Olf

I hoped that this government will be more lucky that the previous one. But now I see that Kosova is mentioned there and that made me change my mind. Now I think that this government will not last more that 1 year especially when I have in mind the forced coalition by Russia SPS-DS and that they are still planning to deal with the that Serbian politicians should learn once and for all that Kosova issue does not bring them any extra point to them but it ruins them. Kosova is not Independent country recognised by nearly 50 most powerful countries and it should be seen like that by all the Serbs.
I must say that there is a chance that this government can survive more that what I initially think but they must leave Kosova issue aside, mentioning it but not deal with it. This is the only way the they an survive.

I could be wrong but this is what I think.

Stoning Rolle

I guess one of the weakest governments Serbia had. Obviously affraid and numbed couse of the radicals strength, who want ease governing in Serbia. I can not see the personalities, the strong charakters and courage to look the serbian people in the eyes and tell them the "writing on the wall". Instead you get flowery phrases about Kosovo etc. It is clear to me that Kosovo will probably keep on beeing a disabled would-like state, perhaps never a member of the UN and world bank, but it is even that clear Kosovo will not be part of Serbia again.

To the dear K-Albanians I would like to say: Your problems are much worse. Do not believe You could outperform Serbia, because only Serbia can be the engine of economic progress in ex-YU region.
