Sydney is in Australia. So it's relatively safe to assume that I am an australian, as is indeed the case. Ergo, my country is Australia.

That last statement of yours is about as accurate as is your logic.

As for your 'tirade' against B92, it is a western backed media distributor. Some serbs believe it gives too much emphasis to the pro-EU block in Serbia, just as some K-albanians believe it gives too much emphasis to serbs.

So what? It is a serb outfit backed by western money - get over it.

Some K-albanians get censored, as do some serbs - it's in the terms & conditions.

I personally have had perfectly innoculous & innocent little sections excised (no doubt human error on the part of B92 of course). Happens.

Occasionally, B92 gets the story wrong - to be expected, as they are a conduit, not a source, & sources can be wrong.

Live with it, or go post elsewhere.

If it was a bolt action, or semi-auto. Ok - is Kosovo. But a full automatic. For protection? With a KFOR base just down the road?

Assumption sounds reasonable to me.

lili:

KFOR is now pro-serb? I don't think so.

Suvi do has been a flashpoint for quite a while - usually due to K-albanian agression - with numerous incidents instigated by the K-albanian majority & all documented - is why KFOR built a base there.

why was the search? just to provoke incidents of course!
Some are trying very hard to throw us in a clashbecause some just want to have a pretext to have their army back!
these attemps to provoke clashes in noth mitrovica just to put an end to the kosovo situation and have a justification for their action is the new danger for albanians.
So keep cool, and don't give the pretext to serbs!

I have no idea what the real story behind this article is. I do not know if the Serbs protests are justified, if the stone throwing was an act of desperation caused by the local government not doing a fair job, etc. And I am not sure the confrontation between the Serbs and the Albanians protesters was as peaceful as the article implies.

But I have a problem with connecting these 2 events:

Participate in a protest => Getting your house searched.

Something extraordinary must have happened here, and I would like to know more about that.

Vindicated? I am not so sure. True, rabbit hunting is not done with automatic (who said anything about automatic anyway?) riffles, but this is after all an area that has been subjected to war and war-like situations for years.

I wonder what the result would be, if one conducted a similar search in a random collection of 50 Serb houses and 50 Albanian houses? How many riffles would such a search uncover? If the search was "vindicated" as you say Peter, is it because the riffle proved the 3 men were up to no good? If a random search showed up 5 more riffles, would their arrest also be vindicated?

Still, the interested question is: Why were the house searched? The article gives no answer.

My dear Peggy, Serbs were the ones that throw stones at workers and K-Albanins accompinying the workers doing work on public road.

So the Serbs were protesting. So what. Does this give the Albanian civilians the right to buy into this and start with rock throwing at Serbs?

Don't the Albanians believe in leaving it to the authorities to manage? Don't they trust the police to handle a protest or were they just itching for an excuse to start something with the Serbs?

Everyone has the right to protest but the Albanians making themselves the judge and executioner is certainly not on.

You see what can happen when you don't behave. You get your house searched and end up in trouble.

while what you say about this incident appears to be right, from the little we know, and while I agree with your general sweep of 1990s history, none of that can alter the fact that real crimes have been committed against K Serbs since 1999. Just remember, the label 'endangered' applied to K serbs, that you ridicule, never applied north of the Ibar.

Mike

You know, the funny thing is that if the article reported on 3 Serbs being arrested in Southern Mitrovica, the very Albanians, with the exception of EA, who posted here would be applauding the KPS for their stellar work, and blaming the Serbs for refusing to accept realities and follow the new law of the new land. Instead, the roles are reversed and the article is now conveniently manipulated by Serb media and the K Serbs are racist.

It's kind of hard for some people to be objective when they look at Kosovo in the same way as they would a football match with rival sports teams.

I read the articel but the articel is manipulated. The truth is that the serbs throwed stones at the workers and two got inqured. The police in Kosovo has confirmed this. B92 writes a different thing. They diden't wrote somthing more because the stonethrowers was the serbs. Serbian media is working like the serbian politicans. They hide when a serb does somthing bad. B92 hide those serbian stonethrowers just like belgrade is hiding Mladic and Karadzic.
