Cees,

GDB you say. Well, there is no need for you to go all the way to Germany in search for the manipulation of history and refusal of politicians and public to take responsibility for their war crimes. You have more then enough material at home in The Netherlands. With its colonial past and its role in the slave trade, Dutch are responsible for huge number of deaths of innocent people. Legions of historians have a lot of material to process and educate Dutch public much better about violent, criminal part of their history. You as a journalist could do your part in that.

What do you think when will finally The Netherlands honestly admit its war crimes in so called police action, ("politionele actie"), brutal war 1946-1949 against Indonesian population? Captain Raymond Westerling "the Turk" is for example responsible for 40 000 deaths only on Celebes, one of the Indonesian islands. Yet, he was seen as a hero at home, his crimes were never properly investigated and he lived his life happily in The Netherlands with no worries. He's deeds were much, much worse then what general Ratko Mladic is accused of.

You know, some of us know your history quit well...

“And if EU will advance new requirements for Vojvodina? Vojvodina will be the past and EU will be the future?”

Well, the majority of Vojvodinians speak Serbian and most of the times felt themselves as Serbian people.

Besides, Milosevic never sent troops, police and paramilitary forces to Vojvodina to rape, kill and expell people massively. But that’s happened in Kosovo between 1998 and 1999. And that’s why Kosovo is an independent nation in 2008.

Mr.Daniel Fried belongs to the set of hypocrite US politicians who appeared on wave of distortions created in last 15 years in US top administration. We remember well Mr.Clinton's sensationalist introduction to NATO "Merciful Angel" campaign: 500,000 Albanians were allegedly killed in Kosovo by Serb forces...said Mr.Clinton, otherwise famous for his honesty!
We can hope that such hypocrites will after coming elections be "buried" together with era of deception which they so skillfully represented.

ZK,

1 million is the high end of the estimates. 200,000-300,000 are the low, so its most likely somewhere in-between. That is of course a HUGE amount of civilian causalities, sort of makes the wars of the 90’s in the Balkans seem tame and mild. Then again, most Americans are so stupid, the majority of them still think Saddam had something to do with 911, so its ok to do that to “terrorists”.

THANK GOD that Milosevic refused to allow US troops on the ground over the whole Serbia. Serbia came very close to experiencing the US version of democracy building. I think Serbia can do without America’s version of “peace”.

Micrea,

40,000? The “Book of the Dead” estimates the number of dead at six thousand something.

Still a terrible crime and to be condemned, and for it, I am ashamed.

However, the reality is, as a Serbian-American, I am far more ashamed of our actions in Iraq and the deaths of countless civilians.

Mircea,
how many Srebrenicas against Serbs happened by the muslim forces (both local + imported mudjahedins from ... IRAN), with the protection or even help of the Dutch/French UN units?

Mircea, we all are grown ups right?

Phenomena like this Mircea, (in case he is not Bosniak Muslim or just a classic Albanian Serb hater no matter what),

By seeking to eliminate a part of the Bosnian Muslims [Bosniaks], the Bosnian Serb forces committed genocide. They targeted for extinction the forty thousand Bosnian Muslims living in Srebrenica, a group which was emblematic of the Bosnian Muslims in general. They stripped all the male Muslim prisoners, military and civilian, elderly and young, of their personal belongings and identification, and deliberately and methodically killed them solely on the basis of their identity.[10]
(Mircea, 4 July 2008 20:51)

Mircea, stop quoting lines from US propaganda. The US killed 2 million Vietnamese and 1 million Iraqis (so far). That is what happens when you believe in selective justice. If the US war criminals were taken to court and faced their crimes from the beginning then many innocent civilians, women and children, would still be alive today.

Justice for all, not just a select few! Any leader or general that gets involved in a war is a war criminal - plain and simple. The US is the only country to have dropped weapons of mass destruction on civilians. May the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki live in peace.

Do you believe in "might is right" Mircea?

As a regular reader and contributer to this forum I am protesting again against the way B92 is allowing the intentions, laid down in some of these comments. To me the above cited sentences could directly come from the 'ministry for propaganda' during the Milosevic' reign. They are based on prejudice and discrimination. Still comments like this are accepted, where critical remarks of the Serbian way of thinking, as Jovan shows in the first sentence with a clear Serbian threat to Albanians, don't get a place. I have understood a lot of times that being critical to the Serbian past, and the way this Serbian generation has to believe their history through the eyes of their historians, are not allowed to have a voice in Serbian newsmedia, if one, like me, is a non-Serb.

The Serbian history, to my opinion, written down by their historians is very doubtfull, because in general they (with a few exceptions) have omitted most of the parts with less glorious dates. It reminds me to history-writing in the former German Democratic Republic (or Eastern Germany).

I once already have sent a comment, where I protested the open and hidden 'HATE-SPEECH' of some of the comments and I like to renew my protest!!!
In what way could you, Jovan ever live together in one state or independent province with an Albanian majority? You couldn't as your judgment about Albanians shows. So let them their piece of land and make yourself a peaceful life far away from them.

This is a message for ALL SERBS: The Srebrenica massacre is the largest mass murder in Europe since World War II.[8] In 2004, in a unanimous ruling on the "Prosecutor v. Krstić" case, the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), located in The Hague, ruled that the Srebrenica massacre was genocide,[9] the Presiding Judge Theodor Meron stating:

I also think that Serbia deserves peace, and particularly from Kosovo issue, now and forever. Yesterday, on RAI I channel news at 8pm, there was a news that an Albanian living in Italy married a 12 year old "Serbian" girl buying her from her parents for 17.000 euros, and whom he made pregnant. The doctors from Milan hospital informed the police about human traffiicking and RAI made a coverage. What I want to say here is that the girl was not Serbian but Albanian bearing Serbian passport: and that it is the HIGH moment to stop Albanians using Serbian citizenship when it is convenient to them. Serbia must define its borders and who can have its passport. Thank you.

Everybody please note :

1. Needless to say that the two politicians mentioned get their instructions not from Moscow and not even from Brussels but from their overseas headquaters.

2. Not only Russia has never minded the European choice for Serbia but to my personal dissapointment it has tributed much for the current unnatural coalition to head the Government.

3. Besides under no conditions Tadic would not have been reelected as a President if only only Putin once had hinted that Russia will never again leave Serbia alone to face it's "democratic" enemies' united front !

4. US are in no position to teach anybody ! They export empty banknotes and political problems all over the world - nothing else. We all know that Russia has started to demount the existing monetary system to put an end to Anglo-Saxon domination in the World and President G.Bush is the biggest tributer to this job !

5. Not only Serbia but EU itself has got only one real ally to obtain full range independence. And it is Russia. Despite the small problems in Poland and other Baltic states Russia is the biggest EU hope for real independence from the US grasp. Unlike the US strategically we are interested in the united Europe. Our trade volume with the US composes some 2-3% of what we have in Europe.

If Kosovo is the past and EU is the future, why President Tadic don't recognize Kosovo's independence? Because it would be a very shame that a country accept a EU dismemberment of its territory as the price to enter into the same EU. Who will have respect for this State? Nobody. And if EU will advance new requirements for Vojvodina? Vojvodina will be the past and EU will be the future?
Paradoxically the US officer think right: only Russia defend the honour of Serbia and therefore is the main obstacle to the unconditional surrender of Belgrade. But this unconditional surrender will never be the way for Serbia to entry into the EU, which was, is and will be ever a Union of sovereign States and not of half-States.

The Hague is a NATO court set up by NATO to convict those that went against the wishes of NATO. In other words, lock up as many Serbians as possible!

It is selective justice and I simply do not subscribe to that. Bring Bush, Blair, Clinton, Albright, Solana and the rest of them to a proper court, as they have also been accused of war crimes, and then we can discuss sending Serbians.

So reading between the lines, these two men (Tadić and Cvetković) should not be interrupted whilst they sell Serbia with Kosovo and hand over Mladić plus anyone else they may want and then the US will allow Serbia to live in peace and be part of Europe, which by some strange coincidence is already a part of Europe.

Excellent deal, I'm sure all of those DS/G17/LDP/SPS supporters will be proud of this great potential Serbia has been offered. On her knees and at the mercy of others.

The US can finally claim that since all of the big fish at the Hague have been acquitted except the Serbians, well, I wonder who's fault all of this mess has been?

So the plan is nearly accomplished but I do wonder what the people will think about this once they truly wake up?

now the Albanians should build up some "skyscrapers" and other useful objects in order to offer something valuable when they are re-integrated again.
since globalization is going on, the times of cleaning boots and narco-trafficking is not sufficient any more. finally start reading books, non-albanian books of course.

I think Serbia is doing to an extent, OK.

Only with this type of leadership with Tadic, Cvetkovic, & LDP and ignoring compeletly conservative voices of DSS, SRS and some childish voices from some ultra nationalists in B92 forum, Serbia MAY slowly recover its disasterous Global Relations.

Serbia should have reliased by now that KOSOVO IS HISTORY and the EU is the FUTURE.

They stripped all the male Muslim prisoners, military and civilian, elderly and young, of their personal belongings and identification, and deliberately and methodically killed them solely on the basis of their identity.[10]

FOR ZK UK: why are you against sending Mladic to the Hague? That man is a WAR CRIMINAL who is responsible for killing thousands of Bosnian civilians in Srebrenica. Did you forget about that massacre?

The Hague is a NATO court set up by NATO to convict those that went against the wishes of NATO. In other words, lock up as many Serbians as possible!

It is selective justice and I simply do not subscribe to that. Bring Bush, Blair, Clinton, Albright, Solana and the rest of them to a proper court, as they have also been accused of war crimes, and then we can discuss sending Serbians.

Otherwise, I am not a believer in "might is right" and that is something I will continue to resist.

(Mircea, 4 July 2008 20:51)

the population of srebrenica was never more than 4,000 people, not 40,000...

after your hero naser oric left srebrenica to the dutch UN, the 200 serb soldiers encountered only light resistance... so how can 200 soldiers kill 4000 people then hide them so well? to this day they've only found 2000 some bodies and thats from 1991-1995 & they are both Serbs and 'Bosniaks'...

Mircea,
how many Srebrenicas against Serbs happened by the muslim forces (both local + imported mudjahedins from ... IRAN), with the protection or even help of the Dutch/French UN units?

Mircea, we all are grown ups right?

Phenomena like this Mircea, (in case he is not Bosniak Muslim or just a classic Albanian Serb hater no matter what),
make me wonder.

"Serbia is prepared and ready. as soon as they (the internationals) are gone, the Albanians will experience how independent they really are, if they haven´t got it by now".
".....since globalization is going on, the times of cleaning boots and narco-trafficking is not sufficient any more. finally start reading books, non-albanian books of course".

We expect Russia not to try and prevent President [Boris] Tadić and new Prime Minister [Mirko] Cvetković from dedicating themselves to Serbia’s European future,” Fried underlined.
--
So reading between the lines, these two men (Tadić and Cvetković) should not be interrupted whilst they sell Serbia with Kosovo and hand over Mladić plus anyone else they may want and then the US will allow Serbia to live in peace and be part of Europe, which by some strange coincidence is already a part of Europe.

This is a message for ALL SERBS: The Srebrenica massacre is the largest mass murder in Europe since World War II.[8] In 2004, in a unanimous ruling on the "Prosecutor v. Krstić" case, the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), located in The Hague, ruled that the Srebrenica massacre was genocide,[9] the Presiding Judge Theodor Meron stating:

By seeking to eliminate a part of the Bosnian Muslims [Bosniaks], the Bosnian Serb forces committed genocide. They targeted for extinction the forty thousand Bosnian Muslims living in Srebrenica, a group which was emblematic of the Bosnian Muslims in general.

"U.S.: Serbia deserves peace"

Yes it does. And here's the best way to ensure Serbia gets peace: The US keeps its nose out of Serbia's internal affairs. Everytime my country thinks its doing something for the greater good, things get worse in the Balkans, particularly Serbia.

You want to be good on your comittments towards peace in Serbia Mr. Fried? Stop treating it like your regional punching bag.

Thank you.

"We expect Russia not to try and prevent President [Boris] Tadić and new Prime Minister [Mirko] Cvetković from dedicating themselves to Serbia’s European future,” Fried underlined"
