Cees,
GDB you say. Well, there is no need for you to go all the way to Germany in search for the manipulation of history and refusal of politicians and public to take responsibility for their war crimes. You have more then enough material at home in The Netherlands. With its colonial past and its role in the slave trade, Dutch are responsible for huge number of deaths of innocent people. Legions of historians have a lot of material to process and educate Dutch public much better about violent, criminal part of their history. You as a journalist could do your part in that.
What do you think when will finally The Netherlands honestly admit its war crimes in so called police action, ("politionele actie"), brutal war 1946-1949 against Indonesian population? Captain Raymond Westerling "the Turk" is for example responsible for 40 000 deaths only on Celebes, one of the Indonesian islands. Yet, he was seen as a hero at home, his crimes were never properly investigated and he lived his life happily in The Netherlands with no worries. He's deeds were much, much worse then what general Ratko Mladic is accused of.
You know, some of us know your history quit well...
