Kosovo is still legally and recognized by the UN as part of the republic of Serbia. It hasnt change and will not be change. whether the US hypocrite and it's KLA ally agree or not.

Too bad America. The facts on the ground speak differently. Kosovo is defacto partioned now. The North de jure is different. Too bad. Your policies once again have failed. The only thing you succeeded in is, where Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy failed, you succeeded.

Wow the hypocrisy being spewed from Washington is utterly amazing. The empire has used one law to dear with Srbija "might is right" and nothing will be tolerated.Kosovo is not a country and playing games in the Balkans by outside empires has only and will only lead to war and instability.I agree with Mike above divide and conquer still worlds.

I get it. The US is angry that the Serbs can set up an assembly for very little money.

It makes the US look bad because is costs hundreds of millions of dollars from corporate sponsors and individuals to buy yourself into the White House.

The lesson for the Serbs here is clear. Privatization! If you throw lots of money about, it is bound to lead to good governance and efficient managment of the political process.

It would be brilliant for unemployment too. Imagine all the lawyers that would need to be employed to fight over every election and manipulate the constitution when it doesn't allow the politicians to do what they want.

Obviously the poor can't afford democracy, therefore they should sell themselves off to a rich, nice country that can bomb their enemies for them...

Negotiations now or there is yet another Eurasian frozen conflict with no end in sight. Fact is, neither side has enough support to have any major advantage over the other, so what do they think they will achieve? Nothing!

BRING BACK THE TROIKA TALKS!
(Peter Sudyka, 3 July 2008 18:42)

Peter, the big difference here is that one side is spending billions and tying up thousands of troops to maintain this frozen conflict while the other just sits and waits for an opportune moment.

That's why one side is in such a big rush and push to get things finalised. However, the other side continues to block it.

Who do you think has more staying power?

This is so typical of the Balkans:

"US, the self-declared cradle of democracy is condemning the democraticaly elected Serbian assembly. Boy, they're really getting desperate now.
(Python, 3 July 2008 13:36) "

And...

"will you support the Hungarians or Presevo Albanians doing the same? Kosova je Arnaut ;)
(Alban, 3 July 2008 14:36) "

Finger pointing and accusing one side of doing exactly the same as the opposing side is doing and vice versa. Two little pawns hanging as puppets of two bigger sides (against each other ideologically since over 60 years, give or take a few CEE countries) and both calling the kettle black, it's all too sad.

The US can symbolically condemn, but it certainly isn't going to actively seek to undermine. The Kosovo Serb Assembly fits wonderfully into US international strategy: it perpetuates a sense of perceived instability in the region, and necessitates continued Albanian reliance on the US for security.

Classic strategy: divide and conquer. Or in this case, divide and prolong dependency. Who said Realism was dead?

"…. Kosovo …. and democratic institutions should be managed by its inhabitants, WITHOUT any INTERFERANCE ….(of) ANY … FOREIGN POWER…."

So, democratically elected Assembly of Serbs from Kosovo is extern interference but constant melding of US government is? Internal matters?

This is becoming ever more irrational by the day.

If it is condemned by K-Serbs themselves what do you except form the others.
I think that Albanians in the Presevo, Bujanova and Medvedja should create an Assembly to.

Oh, I thought this assembly was just virtual reality? So why condemn it? It must be a bit of a threat to the occupation I'd say.

Alban, as Serbian citizens the Presevo Albanians just participated in Serbian elections and have a seat in parliament. They have therefore accepted the reality of living in Serbia. The Hungarians did just the same and are about to be part of the new government.

When are you Kosovo Albanians going to follow your brethren back into reality? Or do you prefer to live in isolation?

And Serbia condemns your attempt at stealing her territory as well.

Just because you say that Kosovo is independent doesn't make it so. Are you the law and ruler of all the world?
Majority of the world doesn't agree with you so what makes you think you can call the shots?

Such arrogance from a government which is held in contempt by many of it's own citizens let alone many countries around the world.
