Ben - We all know the "reality" was nothing more than propaganda which made it easier for the US to bomb Serbia and steal it's assets by installing puppet governments in the new Balkan states. Divide and Conquer - still very effective today when you control the media.

BURIM REGJAJ - Wrong on a number of points. You can't rob something you own.

The Serbs have always been the majority in the north of Kosovo, before and after the war. But assume for the moment that wasn't the case, and that UN law on the right to self determination takes precedent. There is nothing in UN law that states how long a population has to be living somewhere before it can declare self determination, hence the Serbs right to stay with Serbia - FACT. Get over it, the northern parts of Kosovo will never leave Serbia whether you like it or not and there's nothing you can do about it. Get your facts straight, if not, learn some humility and learn from those who know.

Burim,

You've written so many words. . .yet you make so little sense.

You claim that what I've written is "bogus" yet where is your proof.

In December 1918, the predecessor of Yugoslavia, The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, was declared by Serbian Prince-Regent, Aleksandar Karadordevic in Beograd.

That's TRUE. How do you dispute that?

Here's some more data to support my post.

According to Dr. Raju Thomas of Marquette University:

"Surely then the real aggression in Yugoslavia began with the western recognition of Slovenia and Croatia. The territorial integrity of a state [Yugoslavia] that was voluntarily created and which had existed since December 1918 was swept aside. In 1991, new state recognition policy proved to be an inventive method of destroying long-standing sovereign independent states. When several rich and powerful states decide to take a sovereign independent state apart through the policy of recognition, how is this state supposed to defend itself? There can be no deterrence or defense against this form of destruction."

And more. . .this from G. Richard Jansen from Colorado State University:

"In 1967 Tito made his first visit to Kosovo. He purged Alexander Rankovic, who was a strong Serbian "centralist" and much hated in Kosovo, from power in Kosovo. This created euphoria among the Albanian population. More concessions were made to Albanian nationalism dealing with languages, education and other cultural issues. A veritable flood of Albanian nationalism was the predictable result. Because of immigration of Albanians, emigration of Serbs and a very high Albanian birthrate from 1961 to 1971 Albanians increased from 67% to 74% of the population."

. . .and more from Jansen. . .

"Money going into capital development in Kosovo became a resented financial drain from other regions of Yugoslavia, especially Slovenia and Croatia. A continuous demographic explosion of births among low- income, poorly educated Albanians who became dependents of the government increased the financial drain and increased the resentment."

You people really need to stop playing the innocent card. Its so tiresome. All the ethnic groups of the former Yugoslavian wars were guilty of atrocities.

* whether you kill 10 people or 100 people. . .you're still a murderer
* whether you rape 5 women or 50 women. . .you're still a rapist

YOU CAN'T PLEAD INNOCENCE BECAUSE YOU ALLEGEDLY COMMITTED LESS CRIMES!

Also, how can Serbia rob its own province as you suggest? When I take money from my bank account. . .I'm not stealing from myself.

And finally. . .

. . .why do Albanians think that they have an inalienable right to break from Serbia yet the Serbs cannot break from this "kosova"?

BURIM REGJAJ

Nemanja,
You are so wrong in so many levels. Every point that you try to make is bogus.
'The Serbs tried to save Yugo."-- By killing hundred thousands, destroying property, raping girls as young as teens. How is that supposse to save Yugo? I see that you live in CT but please don't start saving USA.

Reparations to succeed;--Serbia robbed Kosova for many decades of its resources. Trepca radi Beograd se gradi might give you a hint.

What right to break up Yugo;--Self determination right, recognized by UN. I'm sure you think that same right should be extented to Kosovar Serbs in North, right? Wrong. They settled in North Mitrovica during the Serb pullout after Serb Army surrendered. Thus, no entity, no simbolism, no separation.

Funcakes - first you question 1244 and it's legitimacy by asking when did Serbia take over Yugoslavia's jurisdiction and then when it suits you, you say "they" have broken international law. what's wrong, can't you make up your mind. smoking too much dope?

Eagle - maybe you can't read the news (or read at all), there will be no EU enlargement for the forseeable future and if there is, Serbia will be in first (with a veto to boot, hahahahaha).

Ben - much better than listening to your Mickey Mouse premier Sedjiu declaring the north Kosovo parliament illegitimate. Last I heard Kosovo has no legal standing so how can he declare anything??

And finallyu to all the ALbo's here, don't waffle about legality and international law. it takes two to tango and we all know that the Albo KLA are terrorists who committed MANY atrocities and killed thousands of Serbs.

Nemanja, Connecticut

pre 15 godina

Again, to the uninformed. . .

International law was indeed broken in the disintegration of Yugoslavia. . .but it was done so by separatist aspirations of the Slovenes, Croats, Bosnian moslems and now the Albanians and aided by their eager sponsors the U.S. and Germany.

The Serbs simply attempted to save Yugoslavia. And you blame them for this?

The idealogy of a "yugoslavia" was a rather naive dream of the Serbian monarchy to unite all the southern Slavic peoples that suffered under the yolk of this master or that oppressor.

Now let me ask you. . .what right do you people have to destroy something that you had no part in creating?

If you desire to leave, then reparations are in order!

Consider the following analogy. When an English Premier team wants a talented player from, say, Red Star, they pay a fee to the club for his rights.

Slovenia got away without any costs. Croatia "owed" Krajina but was able to withhold payment because its sponsors (the U.S. and Germany) are too strong. Bosnia reluctantly paid with Republika Srpska and Kosovo will pay with the North.

And speaking of Kosovo. . .how did the hundreds of thousands of ethnic Albanians that escaped the poverty of Albania and sought refuge in Kosovo repay their Serbian hosts?

Shame on you all.

Dear Mr. Tadic,

Everytime a Serb official mentions International law, it makes me laugh.

BTW, where was international law in the 1990s with worst attrocities since WWII committed by Serbian authorities, or perhaps you want to associate this to other nations.

It is a shame.

As for UNMIK reconfiguration,... you are late, it has already started.

Why President Tadic don't never mention directly EULEX, for the approval or for the disapproval? This is a meaningless speech, which will be cause of serious problems for all Serbs, especially in Kosovo. From this speech the EU is understanding "green light" for EULEX, the K.-Serbs are understanding "red light" for EULEX. So all people are satisfied with Tadic, but in this way the crash will be unavoidable. Tadic is a very dangerous station-master.

* whether you kill 10 people or 100 people. . .you're still a murderer
* whether you rape 5 women or 50 women. . .you're still a rapist
