Nikshala,
You commented on the ownership of the land, I am more than happy to clear it up for you;
Kosovo and Metohija belongs to the soul of every Serb who has ever walked this planet. Albanians are welcome to live their but is no amount of NATO force or separatism that can ever change that fact, good luck trying the impossible.

Why cannot they build the mosque in a different location - maybe just 50-100 yards away and closer to Albanians.

It is said it is an important spot for Serbian fairgrounds and gathering, so it appears a deliberate provocation by the Albanians.

Plus the physical violence was started by the Albanian police using cudgels. (And then it should be noted the Roma were with the Serbs when the Albanians and Serbs were throwing rocks at each other. Since the Roma are mainly Muslim it shows it is not really a religious dispute between the people but a non-Albanian versus Albanian. The Albanians oppress all non-Albanians in Kosmet.)

Here's the quote by one of the injured.

"They attacked us with cudgels, and there were several injured. One person was sent to hospital in Vranje. They were provoking us, and tried to break through the barricades we’d set up,” Stanojević said.

Nikshala, Is that what you call a church? An eye sore???!!
Perhaps that's how they see the mosque too.

Anyway, when Albanians rebuild hundreds of churches and monasteries which they burned to the ground, you can have a say in this.

This is a mosque in planning stages and the residents have every right to protest against it. That's how it works in a western society.
A notice of intent to build is first presented publically to the residents and then they have a right to respond.
So the residents only exercised their democratic right to do that.

What gave the Albanians the right to burn historic churches and monasteries in a "democratic" Kosovo?

Obvious to me that Albanians don't have a clue as how democracy works.

you can be sure that this is not the end of the story, my dear.

until the southern province is not re-integrated, completely ( to be quite clear on this ), there will not be an "end of story"

"authorities"???

nikshala, you don´t mean those illegal wanna-be clan-chiefs who are terrorizing the non-albanian population, do you?

I do not see any "authorities" in the occupied southern province of Serbia!

- how very convienant! All those unsolved crimes and house fires that just happen to belong to non-Albanians and yet KPS polcise just happen to be "passing by"...

Could you put some light on these "unsolved crimes"? There are no unsolved crimes because the Kosovar - Serb do not report them, how is SHPK (KPS) suppose to solve something that hasn't been reported?

Look at this. Albanians try to build a mosque in a mixed (Albanian-Serb) town, the Serb part of the population try to physically prevent it, I guess because they don't like mosques, there are clashes, the KPS comes in and tries to separate the two sides, the head of the municipality then has talks to both sides, and after that the building of the mosque is postponed.

And then you have Serbs writing to this list from some paralleluniverse trying to suggest this scenario shows that Albanians don't want to live with anyone else, that Kosova is ethnicaly purified of non-Albanians, and everyone so much as speaking Serbian in public s lynched by Albanian fanatics or behind barbed wire.

Time for a reality check. Good job KPS and the municipal authorities.

although it´s sad to see violence in Serbia´s southern province, ...it´s good that the international community can see that it is the albanian part of the population attacking the rest of the peacful inhabitants, not only Serbs but also Roma and others.

I will personally forward this article to non-serb friends of mine, although they are supporters of Serbia, that´s something even they did not expect.

thanks a lot, my dear albanian friends.

Enclave serbs should move north if they are so threatened by minarets on the horizon.

Jovan, Vuk and Ratko,

Are you reading the same report as the rest of us?

Does in not say that it was the serbs themselves that decided to take matters in their own hands by blocking the road, and when albanians unblocked it, they started throwing stones at each other?

Read the report, before you make a judgement.

This is ridicoulous anyway, neither serbs or albanians should take matters in their own hands, leave to the authorities.

Its simple, if its legal, construction should continue, if illegal, it should stop!

its not peaceful when you protest by barricading roads full stop.

As nikshala said you can post this kind of propagandist messages without having the full story of what caused the dispute.

I'm sorry to see this happening in Kosovo, we simply don't want to build a republic like the Serbian one.

Ratko

Well said Vuk. This is just another deliberate provocation by albans. Do they really need this additional mosque to be built in a Serb area? Didn't they build enough mosques with saudi money since the ethnic clensing of Serbs in 99?

It would help if someone could report on the ownership of the land, whether this mosque has the necessary planning consent and other approvals, etc etc.

If it does have all the legal documents, and the serbs are protesting just because they don't like a mosque getting built near where they live, well tough, 500 000 albanians in Pristina have to live with the ugly site of a huge church right in the middle of the university grounds, which is against any kind of common sense, or any development masterplan even pre 1999.

If however, this mosque does not have the necessary approval than construction should be stopped.

Vuk

Everyday we see the truth of the situation on the ground.

Albanians in the province of Kosovo and Metohija have absolutely no intention with living with anyone apart from themselves, they have been demonstrating this for decades as they have been chasing Serbs, Roma etc from their homes. Overpopulating the land and making living conditions unbearable for a Serb causing them to leave further.

As the next chapter unfolds in the Kosovo saga we see that they are not content with their quasi-state which has for the best part been cleansed of other minorities they also wish to make life as horrible as they possibly can for who is left.

This ill-conceived state was created by injustice and it seems that "kosova" will live out it's meager and minimal existence by the very same trait.

What a testament to the development of civilization and man in general this "kosova" is turning out to be.
