"Pro-EU govt. thanks to Brussels"

The Slovenian EU presidency has welcomed the prospect of a pro-EU government being formed in Serbia, which Dimitrij Rupel claims is partly down to Brussels.

To cite a fmr.US diplomat:
'Despite everything which has transpired thus far, the Western International Community STILL does not fully grasp the extent of the Serbian attachment to Kosovo. It makes the erroneous assumption that if the DS is successful in forming the next Serbian government, it will quietly let this issue die. This is wishful thinking.'

I've Just recalled that Slovenia is where all this trajic mess actually started. In 1990 Jugoslavia was one of the world's nations with the fairest standards of living and most independent and non-aligned countries in the world until the Slovenes backed by the CIA, World Bank - IMF & media inspired infiltrators in that then Jugoslav republic started overrunning JNA border posts. Rupel should but out of this subject before more of us begin to remember where all this tragic mess actually originated & which has unfortunately resulted in the emense loss of life over the past decade and a half!

So, in the end EU is admiting it was(and still is) deeply involved with the Serbian election. Brussels see it as a success for itself because they've almost lost pro-EU Serbia because its own actions(kosovo). Anyway, EU lost half of Serbs for good.

No, a pro-EU government is not thanks to Brussels. It's to the Serbian voters. Last I checked, EUrocrats with funky glasses and Scandinavian sounding names did not queue up at polling stations in Serbia last month.

It doesn't matter if Serbia has an EU friendly government or not. It's not getting in. Nobody is getting in for now, not even Croatia. When the Lisbon treaty was rejected the door to the EU was also closed indefinitely, at least until the Lisbon issue is resolved.

Serbia should forget about the EU and concentrate on important matters. Listening to Brussels is the last thing Serbia should do. To install a government on Brussels orders, against the will of the people, is just plain stupid. Brussels doesn't have anything to offer.

Village-Bey: "“Ban had made it clear that it was necessary to effect operative adjustments on the ground”. Ban among others has comprehended a very simple truth that seems to escape our Serbian friends."

If I were you, I would be more concerned about how events are unfolding than 'getting one over' Serbian posters on this site (and other non Serbs like myself who have never been pro independence).

Nobody's arguing that there has to be an adjustment on the ground in certain areas (which will be ongoing and depends on political developments), but Ban is the first to specify that this will be under Resolution 1244.

Subsequently, there can be no group recognition from eg. the EU, CoE, any UN bodies which recognises Kosovo as independent. Unless of course there is a new Security Council resolution.

There is no legal independence or an annexation of Serbian territory (and whatever your stance Kosovo is still part of Serbia legally) until there is an agreement acceptable to all.

“Ban had made it clear that it was necessary to effect operative adjustments on the ground”.
Ban among others has comprehended a very simple truth that seems to escape our Serbian friends.
The gap between the factual dynamics on the ground and UN’s role is narrowing constantly. It will do so until they converge into a single point. In all likelihood this would be the future trend for UN’s role up to the point where mission would come to a natural end. Like happened with independence the reality of Kosova will dictate the future course of events. All other institutions and individual states will gradually come around the idea of an independent Kosova, and so they should.
