Take care Mike.

What is happening in Serbia at the moment is a travesty. This government that is forming will not last.

From the bottom of my heart I say: God help Serbia. You deserve everything that is good in this world. It will happen.

I see that the SPS has now received their 30 pieces of silver in the form of a speakership that will not likely last 30 days. The DS will not allow the SPS to set the parliamentary agenda and this government is doomed to fail. In the next election, the SPS will claim naivety and pretend that they had no choice but to side with the DS because Palma would have caused another election to occur. They will pretend that they were led to believe that the DS was earnest in its protection of Kosovo.

Now that the Serbs have a parliament of no ideology, made up of separatists and subversives with no common vision or prospects of unity and an ever decreasing relevance- for this we can thank the mighty and united parties of Milosevic and Djindjic.

Hey everyone,

After 5 months in Serbia, I've returned to the US this afternoon. I had the time of my life in Belgrade, meeting some of the most fascinating people, eating some of the best food, and drinking some of the strongest drinks. I also will miss the experiences and the people I met in Nis, Novi Sad, Sremski Karlovci, Vrsac, and Orasac. I leave a part of my heart behind, and almost automatically walk out of my house expecting to catch the tramway. I will also be itching for a kafana in a few days :) I also spent a few days in England on my way back (preemptive apologies to Princip, Kate, Louie, and others for not making an effort to get in touch, but I was literally there for only three days). Now it's back to the boring life in New Jersey :)

Though I must say, hauling 5 months of baggage with you on the London Tube at 7 in the morning to get to Heathrow is not the most recommended things :) Still, I ow understand why "Mind the Gap" is so catchy :)

In the meantime the PUPS promise of increased pensions has been well and truly ditched by G17 and DS;

"Cvetković today also announced that pensions will this year go up by 10 percent.

Cvetković, seen as the likely new prime minister in the DS-led coalition's government with SPS-PUPS-NS, said the PUPS promise to their voters of a 70 percent hike is unrealistic this year, but can be expected in 2009. "

But what does a 10% increase in real terms equate to with annual inflation not expected to be less then 12% ??

This 10% actually means a 2% reduction in real terms. Pensioners will be in real terms worsde off!

Moreover since a high proportion of thier meager pension is spent on necessities such as food and heating which have been more inflationary thus in "actual" terms they will be hit even harder then a real reduction of 2%!!!

It is also evident that the suggestion of next year this promise to voters being fulfilled is a hoax to deceive SPS coalition into government now and hopefully appease later!

If this Pension promise is already given up so easily by SPS who stated that it was one of the 2 conditions they broke off talks with SRS DSS-NS then what next ???
