"Kosovo recognition not condition for EU"

UK Ambassador Stephen Wordsworth says recognition of Kosovo independence isn't a condition for Serbian EU accession, because the EU isn't united on the issue.

"...stressing that the goal of EULEX was to help apply the rule of law in Kosovo..." well then, they should stay out of Kosovo because the so-called EULEX has no legal basis.

Matthew,

you are spot new conditions again and again!

Moreover, note the one that MArkovic of Jagodina's "advisor" set up for the future;

"and have no plans of doing so, at least not soon, so we cannot ask Serbia to do more than any other members are prepared to do,” Wordsworth "

- "at least not soon" but in time once we apply pressure and do a bit of EU forceful horse trading backed up by the US then of course we will expect Serbia to fall in line if it wants to be part of the EU. Just as EUtechnocrats & Tadic can only be too aware of now what the agreement SAA with Tadic's signature means;

“My understanding is that we’ve only signed the agreement with Serbia itself, without Kosovo,” - De Gucht, Belguim FM.

"So, in our case, were is the border? Where does the custom duty arise? When are goods entering the Union and where?"

I suppose the border will be the old serbian border, since customs will be under EULEX control.

This is good, because when Serbia is in EU, they can block EU membership for Kosovo - and albanians from kosovo can enjoy their nice independence without power and under thier sun - if they are able to see it, because of the smoke from obilic.maybe they will have their own independence but they will be alone without any memberhip in international organizations (EU,UN etc)They can setup their own int.organization for drug dealers, criminals or human beeings traffikers.

Let’s see what the developments have been in the last couple days since its seems SPS will align with DS for a “Pro-European” block. First the Dutch say it isn’t enough to turn over Mladic and the others, now they must “cooperate” with the witnesses. Now, Serbia must work with Kosovo in a “practical way”.

As usual, they just keep stacking new conditions onto the old…

Mr. Wordsworth, did you pass any test before you joined the Foreign office? Didn't they tell you that EU is first of all a Customs Union. So, in our case, were is the border? Where does the custom duty arise? When are goods entering the Union and where?

“Serbia will be expected, however, to find a practical way to cooperate with the EU and its mission to Kosovo,”

How very dare the UK Ambassador suggest such a flagrant attack against Serbia's sovereignty - surely it should be put directly to the UK Ambassador that;

on the contrary it is the EU that should find a legal way in which to cooperate in Serbia's province!

This statement of Wordsworth is just another insult at Serbias sovereignty and territorial integrity and highlights his clear and utter disrespect for Serbia - surely he is over stepping the mark as Ambassador by choosing to be so disrespectful!

Is this the sort of "advice Markovic of Jagodina received and was deceived by ???

Recognising Kosovo isn't the issue for Europe or the US.

They talk a lot about Kosovo's independence, which I'm sure they'd like to make happen, but if it doesn't, it's no big deal for the US and EU. What's vitally important is that they control the north and Trepca.

If they can gain access with the Serbs cooperation, Kosovo will never become a UN recognised country - The US and EU will have already achieved their aims.
