Ruecker: Dečani authorities to return land

Decani has ownership rights to over 800 hectares of land that the Communist regime illegally confiscated and it should all be returned not just a mere 24 hectares!

I am wondering why Decan municipal authorities would not comply with the UNMIK-s decision??? I think that UNMIK should dismiss all municipal heads in Decan – of course if they still have power, what I really doubt!

Yes Princip, 800 hectares. You're a true princely believer in the divine right of the rich and powerful. Just like the Catholic church owned one third of the land in medieval Europe - it should all be returned, right. Feudalism lives!

Curious that Ruecker made this the last act of his appalling tenancy as head of UNMIK.

Perhaps is in small measure trying to assuage the guilt he feels at all his other more significant actions on behalf of the EU.

Because the land in dispute was arbitrarily given to the church by the Milosevic regime in 1997, taken from local Kosovars. Naturally enough, after 1999, Decani authorities reversed this theft, and now dispute the grounds by which UNMIK arbitrarily revives Milosevic's theft.

That said, it is a pity both sides can't use this situation in an imaginative way, rather than it's mine, no it's mine. Why not divide the land into plots, give half to poor Albanians to farm, and half to Serb returness to farm.
