Britain sold most weapons in 2007

Britain was the top arms exporter in the world last year thanks to a major deal to ship fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia, government figures show.

Am I to understand that you guys support the closure of Zastava weapons factory?

This is a problem of course, but it shows inconsistency (in myself as well as others). I am also against the arms trade, but how can we sack the workers of Zastava when there is no other work to offer them?

Ironic when not so long ago war was being touted as 'humanitarianism'.

Weapons, giant casinos, missile defence systems... what a terrible path the UK is treading.

And there lies the answer to the question of what ever happpened to the cold war dividend ? http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2003/mar/23/iraq.theobserver

Sad to believe (but it is true) that the only industry left in the UK is one based upon death and destruction!

Hurrah to Digby Jones! Job well done in Iraq, Afghanistan and supplying weapons to a very undemocratic and corrupt Saudi Arabia (but lets not investigate that http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/industrials/article3367546.ece )for whom we the UK tax payer pay back in billions through raised oil prices and death of UK soliders at the hands of sons of Saudi Arabia such as Osama!!!

But it's ok Saudi Princes deserve billion$ http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/jun/07/bae1 and ex state UK defense companies can be sold cheaply and their chief execs deserve £20 million too! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7108444.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7108444.stm

Oh what a tangled web...
