my dear albanian friend,
it´s not Mr. Moon who is ruling the UN... I wonder that you STILL have not understood this...

it´s the UNSC, kid! the UNSC has the final say...when for heavens sake will you get it finally?

ps: Nikitas, we share the same sense of humour it seems. :)

(Ahmet Isufi, 21 June 2008 06:49) "

Sorry Ahmet, but the same way we dont need visa to travel to Serbia, we also dont need visa to travel to Kossovo.
Again, I will give you the link for the countries outside EU and the requirements for travels. If you find any mention of Kossovo (or any other form of the name) in there, please let me know :)

http://www.mfa.gr/www.mfa.gr/en-US/Services/Visas/Visas+for+Greeks+travelling+abroad/

So to me this only makes it a commercial office and nothing more.
Again, if ever and when it happens, Greek diplomacy will clearly announce it. If it pleases you, you can create any imaginery conclusion fits you, but please dont put it in our mouths. It is more honest to say "I believe that this statement means.....".
At least noone will ever tell you anything, other than laugh with sympathy :)

Oh, and when you find traces of albanian language in the ruins of Atlantis, let me know please, I am really interested in that :)

The UN, through its Secretary General, has finally stated its position on Kosova. The UN is on its way out and EULEX is in. Tadic and Kostunica know this and are not happy. When the EU, UN and the rest of the democratic world go against you, there is only one thing to do -- put up or shut up. It's your call.

The Chinese view is very consistant with what they have said all along. I am not sure which exagerated "bedtime story" beig read to you but from Chinese source it is very clear that they se a negotiated settlement as the only way forward;

"China has all along believed that the ultimate solution to the question of Kosovo's status should be found through negotiations between the two sides by reaching a resolution acceptable to both, Chinese delegate La Yifan told a debate on Kosovo at the United Nations Security Council.

He said China supports efforts to find a compromise on the Kosovo issue through more negotiations.

Despite changes that have actually taken place on the ground in Kosovo, La said, Security Council Resolution 1244, adopted nine years ago, remains the legal basis for resolving the Kosovo issue.

He said China attaches great importance to UN Secretary-GeneralBan Ki-moon's proposal on restructuring the world body's presence in Kosovo and that Ban should continue to maintain close contacts with relevant parties to make the restructuring plan more reliable and more viable, with an eye on adequately resolving the Kosovo issue. "
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-06/21/content_8412120.htm

Also from CCTV;
"Lamberto Zannier arrived in Pristina on Friday afternoon. He stressed that, as head of the UN mission in Kosovo, his position on Kosovo's status will stay neutral.

Zannier was optimistic about forging closer links between Serb and Albanian communities which remain divided after the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo on February 17th.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon appointed Zannier to the role during a Security Council session on Friday.

Speaking on behalf of his new special representative, Ban said Zannier will help to carry forward the UN vision in Kosovo, and lead a new phase of dialogue. He added Zannier would be scrupulously balanced in his approach to the job"

- as far as China is concerned UNMIK is responsible for Serbia's province and its mandate is and remains finding a negotiated settlement that is acceptable for all.

Of course some may believe the "stories" told at bedtime by uncle Sam that as opposed this negotiated settlement he has the will in imposing a predetermined US one that ethnic-Albanians still believe is going to happen. UNSC 1244 still is in force and no new resolution has replcaed it so the 40 odd countries are now in clear breach of their obligations to 1244 - as Rehn likes to remind people in 2005;
" Instead, the European Council reaffirmed that it will honour its existing commitments – pacta sunt servanta"
http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=SPEECH/06/391&format=HTML&aged=1&language=EN&guiLanguage=en

The EU is also obligatd by UN SC resolution 1244 in all that it tries to do in Serbia's province ubder UNMIK authority - not quite what some believe in the "strories" they were told! This council meeting highlighted that Status Quo is still continuing with regards status and nothing will change this but a negotiated settlement agreeable by all!

Back to the negotiating table!

"We assign great importance to UNMIK's reconfiguration. We believe that the UN secretary-general must maintain close contact with all parties in order to find an appropriate solution," Ambassador Liu Zhenmin said in New York today.

Oh my God! China let Serbia down! How can that happen?
It happens when you reject EVERY constructed proposal EVERY time they are presented by EVERY one. There is no such unconditional support that fortunately or not Serbia is getting from Russia. How long this support will last? You never know. I didn’t predict that China will change it’s attitude that fast toward Kosovo. This is good sign and good start for Serbia to realize that working with Kosovo as neighbor country is on its interest.
(Maks, 20 June 2008 20:09) "

Maks, (and Joe too who posted after Maks)

The Chinese will not support Kosovo because that will destroy its own position on Taiwan!

How on earth can you conclude that China had changed its stand from that one paragraph? You should read the ENTIRE Chinese speech. In the context of the entire speech, that paragraph was actually a reaffirmation of China's support for 1244 and for continued negotiations to find this "appropriate solution". So, hate to spoil your celebration but it is really premature -- see http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-06/21/content_8412120.htm

After scanning a lot of news sources, I am having difficulty in finding any reports that Sejidu addressed the UNSC as the President of Kosovo. All I found was that the only capacity he had was only as a private citizen because of a lack of a UN seat. Now thats reality.

When I was a kid back 20 years ago I really used to treat some of these stories about independence of Kosova as dreams...and I did feel so for many years after that.....well actually now after all these years I have come to conclusion that you really need to dream a lot and try to make them real in order to achieve something. I think we have done that and even though our dream is still a - NEWBOURNE - our legs, tounge, knowledge and skills will grow as the NEWBOURNE becomes an older and wiser man.....regardless of your comments that you have made for a number of months before the NEWBOURNE was bourne, things have moved on a lot. It is a great shame that Serbian people have chosen the nationalistic path for so many years and not acknowledged that by accusations, claims, wars and stubornes is not taking you anywhere."
(Bas, 20 June 2008 19:09)

Thank you, Bas. you have stated it quite eloquently, and i appreciate your words and applaud your efforts, youe dreams.

the other side fought tooth and nail to beat us down, using every argument in the book and then some, coupled with threats and condescension. i read those same comments over the past months leading up to independence -- some angered me to no end, some made me LOL.

but now that we have succeeded in the initial independence, our opponents (i never say "the serb camp" because we have some serb allies) are angry, bitter and deeply sarcastic (disneyand, bla bla bla.) who cares? we must keep our eyes on the prize, and move forward, together with members of others groups when possible; when not, on our own. there will always be attacks from the other side of one kind or another, but they should not take us off task.

it is possible that we can build a real multi-ethnic society in kosova (and in the other former YU countries), but it will be an uphill battle...

Athens is very important because of large Albanian population in Greece. As for it becoming the Embassy.... that's "?? ???? ?????? ????????" (Ataman, 20 June 2008 20:02)

Ataman,
With this comment, it is clear that you know nothing about Albanians. Yes it is true that a large Albanian population live in Greece, however that had nothing to do with Kosovo or Kosovo’s Office in Athens because Albanians in Greece are either autochthon or “Arvanitas” or emigrant from Albania. And since Albania has its own Embassy in Athens this can take care of “large Albanian population in Greece”. Kosovo office in Athens is going to be just for Kosovo and soon with become the Kosovo Embassy in Greece.

I would like to quote her (Greece FM): "Kosova is welcomed to open a liaison office anywhere in athens, just like we had one in Kosova for long time", end of quote.
(Ahmet Isufi, 20 June 2008 16:13)

Ahmet,
To start with, there is no such thing as the word "kosova' in Greek. A greek would never say such a thing. It is either Kossovo or Kossyfopedio.

Next one.
As Princip in post 5 posted already, there is a link for you to read the official press conference of Bakoyianni.
here was nothing of the kind of your version in that press conferance. But still, if it makes you happy to believe that Greece has already recognised Kossovo, then be my guest. Sometimes news work as LSD. You are in a dream world :)
The liaison at Kossovo is there for some years now, long before any kind of UDI thought by the albanians of the region. It is used for the commercial and other activities of the Greek state and the market. It has nothing to do with any kind of recognition or political acceptance of a state of Kossovo. Have in mind that countries open liaison offices abroad for commercial mostly (and some spying also as said) reasons, educational and religion reasons. No recognition is needed for a liaison office to open.
Besides that, just check the official site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, in the section of "bilateral policy/Balkans"

http://www.mfa.gr/www.mfa.gr/en-US/Policy/Geographic+Regions/South-Eastern+Europe/Balkans/Bilateral+Relations/

You will not find any kind of "kosova" or Kossovo in there, meaning, it doesnt exist as a state in our map.

USA

pre 15 godina

This is only now the beginning. All of the international support for independence is only language and means nothing on the ground. Once the EU troops arrive, how will they address the Serbian majority areas in Kosovo and how will anyone force these areas to abide by this new constitution? The answer is no one will be able to. I must say that I am rather impressed with how Serbia has been creative in implementing certain measures since the declaration to make this illegal effort more and more difficult to implement as time goes on. There will be increasing political and social measures taken by the Serbian government to isolate this newly formed "kosova" government within the region and there is nothing anyone will do about it. The Albanians have to remain peaceful to save face in the international picture and the international forces cannot and will not intervene militarily. If Serbia is wise, they will not perform any military excercises regardless of the threat. The squeeze will come in other forms that will continue to prevent the Serbian dominated areas of Kosovo from being influenced by the new constitution. Serbia will continue to govern these areas and a partition will occur. Stay tuned. This is by no means an end to anything. I can't wait to see how the next few years will unfold.

Ahmet,

you carry on believing and being dictated to now by Mr Feith who has no legitamacy and never will while Serbia continues to strengthen its legitamate institutions throughout all of Kosovo & Metohija not just in the north as it has until recently - and gues what theres nothing you can do but continue believing in "stories" told by good old uncle Sam but many in the US know the reality;

"The 'sovereign' Albanian Kosovo we see today is fundamentally an American creation. The country's rulers were members of the US-funded and armed Islamist Kosovo Liberation Front, which played an assigned role in the destruction of the old Yugoslavia.

Kosova's Serbs are up in arms. Serbia refuses to recognise the Albanian title deed to a territory that gave birth to the Serbian nation. Russia stands foursquare behind Serbia as it did in the fateful Balkan crisis of 1914. The minority Albanian population, a thorn in Macedonia's side, fans the flames.

Irresistible force gropes against the immovable object. Nato's Dutch Secretary-General Jaap De Hoop Scheffer attempts to soothe frayed nerves with bromides of double Dutch. It isn't a pretty or uplifting picture."

Sooner or later reality will sink in that only negtiated settlement agrreable to all will provide a status solution - until the ethnic-Albanians realise this reality nothing will become of this false creation just as has been the case over the last 9 years of false realities!

Maks,

Me too, I see an erosion of support of China for Serbia. This is much faster than I ever expected. The Chinese are great realists. It will be interesting to watch their attitude in the near future.
Future such UNSC meetings will clearly display the consolidated status of independent Kosovo and the isolation of Serbia supported unconditionally only by Russia.

The key word that you might not understand here is “reciprocity”, and how it pertains to GATT.

Accept reality and stop believing in the bedtime "stories"!

Even the EU comprehend they can not do anything without UN SC sanction which they hoped would have happend last year;

The reality is different from the "stories" being told as follows the real source of these exagerated "stories" lie with the greek foreign office and are quite distinct and clear beyond the viewpoint taken by Ahmets or one suspects how it is interpreted in the "stories" he reads;

"Ms. Adam: I want to ask two things. The first concerns Kosovo. Since the Constitution, most of the countries that have recognized Pristina are going to open embassies. Have the countries that have not recognized Kosovo – among which is Greece – received requests to open a liaison office with Kosovo, and what will you do on that count? That is the first question.

Ms. Bakoyannis: Ms. Adam, we’ve had a liaison office in Kosovo for many years now.

Ms. Bakoyannis: The liaison office in Kosovo has existed and been operating for many years now. It will remain as is. For it to be upgraded to an embassy, recognition will be required.

Ahmet, once again, the accuracy of your comments is in question.

This should not be a pattern of behavior of one claimed previously to be ‘highly educated’ as you have.

The key word that you might not understand here is “reciprocity”, and how it pertains to GATT.

The Greeks export roughly 40 million (Euros) worth of goods to Kosovo annually.

They don’t have to have an Embassy to do business.

Princip, UK

pre 15 godina

The Chinese view is very consistant with what they have said all along. I am not sure which exagerated "bedtime story" beig read to you but from Chinese source it is very clear that they se a negotiated settlement as the only way forward;

Also from CCTV;

Of course some may believe the "stories" told at bedtime by uncle Sam that as opposed this negotiated settlement he has the will in imposing a predetermined US one that ethnic-Albanians still believe is going to happen. UNSC 1244 still is in force and no new resolution has replcaed it so the 40 odd countries are now in clear breach of their obligations to 1244 - as Rehn likes to remind people in 2005;
" Instead, the European Council reaffirmed that it will honour its existing commitments – pacta sunt servanta"
http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=SPEECH/06/391&format=HTML&aged=1&language=EN&guiLanguage=en

Just for your info already it is obvious that cant stand the reality of events in Serbia's province just to remind you of a post of yours;

"My dear Peggy,
I can assure now that at least 10 out of 15 members of UNSC will address Mr. Fatmir Sejdiu as President of Kosova.I hope Tadic and Jeremic decide to walk out, as usual.
(Ahmet Isufi, 19 June 2008 13:12) "
http://www.b92.net/eng/news/comments.php?nav_id=51209

However not even the US refere to Sediju on an equal to the Serbian president;

"But while the council president, US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, called Tadic 'Mr. president,' he did not give Sejdiu that title. "
http://www.monstersandcritics.com/news/europe/news/article_1412465.php/Serbia_rejects_UN_plan_to_draw_down_its_mission_in_Kosovo

Accept reality and stop believing in the bedtime "stories"!

Even the EU comprehend they can not do anything without UN SC sanction which they hoped would have happend last year;

"Guiding principles for the envisaged
international/EU presence in Kosovo
• All preparations made by the EU in its planning for a future
presence in Kosovo are made without prejudice to the outcome
of the status negotiations. A new UN Security Council
resolution is necessary for the future implementation of a
status solution, in particular for the civilian and military international
presence overseeing implementation."
http://ec.europa.eu/enlargement/pdf/serbia/kosovo/eu_preparations_may_2007_en.pdf

Of course no UN SC resolution will ever be adopted untill a negotiated settlement is arrived at - so the sooner talks start the sooner a solution acceptable to all can be found and it ain't the one the US promised!!!

Have the countries that have not recognized Kosovo – among which is Greece – received requests to open a liaison office with Kosovo, and what will you do on that count? That is the first question.

Ms. Bakoyannis: Ms. Adam, we’ve had a liaison office in Kosovo for many years now.

Ms. Adam: Whether it will be in Athens.

Ms. Bakoyannis: The liaison office in Kosovo has existed and been operating for many years now. It will remain as is. For it to be upgraded to an embassy, recognition will be required.

Ms. Adam: So there isn’t …

Ms. Bakoyannis: At this time, there isn’t.

Ms. Adam: A Kosovo liaison office in Athens. That’s what I’m asking.

Ms. Bakoyannis: No, we haven’t received such a request at this time. I thought you were talking about ours.

Ms. Adam: No, no.

Ms. Bakoyannis: We have our office in Pristina. It is a liaison office, as you know, that has been in operation for some time now. We haven’t received any such request for a Kosovo liaison office in Athens. If such a request is made, based on reciprocity we have no problem with accepting it."

Of course some have to read into and exagerate since they have little else to hope for but sooner or later the reality on non-status Status Quo will have to be faced since Greece will not as pointed out recognise!

Ahmet said..."yesterday Greece FM asked Kosova to open a Liaison Office in Athens"

No he did not.

"Kate, Princip.

After scanning a lot of news sources, I am having difficulty in finding any reports that Sejidu addressed the UNSC as the President of Kosovo. All I found was that the only capacity he had was only as a private citizen because of a lack of a UN seat. Now thats reality.

nicely written, Nikitas!

but your comment says it quite well, someone is deceiving himself and does not realize the tragic situation he is in...

pehaps if in some of tomorrow´s albanian yellow-press would be written that Atlantis was an albanian empire in the atlantic, even for that stupidity there would be someone left to believe it...

Sorry Nikitas, but Greece Liaison Office is not only for commercial use , it also issues visas so that to me makes it more like a Counsulate.

The Chinese view is very consistant with what they have said all along. I am not sure which exagerated "bedtime story" beig read to you but from Chinese source it is very clear that they se a negotiated settlement as the only way forward;

Also from CCTV;

Of course some may believe the "stories" told at bedtime by uncle Sam that as opposed this negotiated settlement he has the will in imposing a predetermined US one that ethnic-Albanians still believe is going to happen. UNSC 1244 still is in force and no new resolution has replcaed it so the 40 odd countries are now in clear breach of their obligations to 1244 - as Rehn likes to remind people in 2005;
" Instead, the European Council reaffirmed that it will honour its existing commitments – pacta sunt servanta"
http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=SPEECH/06/391&format=HTML&aged=1&language=EN&guiLanguage=en

Oh, and when you find traces of albanian language in the ruins of Atlantis, let me know please, I am really interested in that :)

my dear albanian friend,
it´s not Mr. Moon who is ruling the UN... I wonder that you STILL have not understood this...

it´s the UNSC, kid! the UNSC has the final say...when for heavens sake will you get it finally?

ps: Nikitas, we share the same sense of humour it seems. :)
