I agree with "Good Gorilla".

I find it ridiculous how Serbs continue to exist in denial, especially ones like "Lazar" who even have the nerve to portray Milosevic as an angel.

Serbs need to face up to their recent past. Accepting guilt for their own wrong doing is the only salvation bringing Serbia into a modern and civilised Europe ....

Serbs need to be WELCOMED back. Big Difference! Any forms of discrimination needs to be stopped like calling Serbs named Stevan, Stejpan. Right Mr. "Stjepan" Mesic! The damage is done. Serbs will never be able to return and live the lives they wish to live.

I love how always cetain Serbs manage to deflect blame on the Pope, Germany, Austro-Hungary or the Massons. It's never the Serbs' fault.

Will Rep Sprska follow the lead? People are being shot for placing flowers on memorails, let alone rebuild their houses.

Mr Mesic's statements imply that he Croatia refuses to acknowledge the Dayton & Erdut peaceagreements, where also the Serbs had the right to return to their homelands.
Its a very serious and unacceptable statement. Croatia was not less guilty in the wars. just had the luck og German friends where they fought in WW I & II.

"Mesic is right. The refugees that had fled Croatia during Yugoslav Wars must be allowed to return in safety, be they Catholic, Orthodox, Muslim or wathever other religion or ethnicity.

And we all know the main man behind the desintegration and war in former Yugoslavia: SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC, the leader of Serbia between 1988 and 2000.
(Bad Gorilla, 19 June 2008 19:58)"

Bad Gorilla,

As Kosovo Albanian I assume that you would like to apply the same logic and so that all ethnically cleansed people from Kosovo (a majority is Serb as you know) can also return unconditionally. I still believe that the late Slobodan Milosevic's role is highly exagerated, mainly by the Western media and various Western governments. Why was he not convicted by The Hague? It is easy to blame all bad things on Serbia and Serbs, but you and other people should also take a good and fresh look in the mirror.

Gorilla, I would not say that we all know that. In fact many including myself would strongly disagree. In the 1990s milosevic was the only leader in the ex-yu who did not promote violence and secession. All the other guys did, like Tudjman, Alija, etc... even when someone like Abdic, by democratic principles, was to become president of Bosnia, this was ignored. In serbia we could not be bought off that easily. We resisted these phoney politicians. We remained strong and we supported Yugoslavia. it is the others who betrayed it.

Though, I think you made that comment to just provocate needlessly. What does that have to do with anything in the article? You're just a type of troll, no?

"He said that at no moment was there “any doubt who started that war, or who should take the most responsibility,” adding that it was a sad fact that ethnic cleansing and persecution had been perpetrated by all sides."

Yes we know that CROATIA started the war with her "german" collaborators. croatia has ethnically clensed all Serbs from their homeland! Where is the shame mesic??

And I don't even have to comment on who should take the most responsibility for these crimes.

I agree with you Mr Mesic 100%. So do your duty and offer your sincere apology to the Serbs for starting the war in Croatia. Not you personally, but the expat Croats from abroad and local Croats, who were trained and armed by Germany and Austria
to start a secession from Yugoslavia.

A symbolic and PR-aimed comment to please the Eurocrats. The sad reality has been, is, and will be the opposite. If this man is truly honest what has caused this 180 degrees change of mind? My main conclusion is that I do not believe one single word he says and I will admit I was wrong when all Krajina Serbs who want to return HOME have done so and that they will be able to return to the homes they left/had to leave behind and that in the Croatian constitution the rights of minorities has been guaranteed and that Croatia will openly apologize to the Krajina Serbs, put all responsible for the ethnic cleansing on a fair and open trail in Croatia or The Hague (including Ceku), and pay compensation to those who lost their homes and lives. Without all this Croatia should not even be considered to be a potential EU member.
