You make quite an assumption that they'd be in Serbia when they went missing in Kosovo during the war. It is known that the KLA did kidnap Albanians throughout the pre-war and war times. Some of these people and their relatives have testified of KLA kidnapping and abuse of relatives.

Additionally NATO bombs carbonized people (there were pictures of this back in 1999 and the victims were Albanians), so many people's bodies were likely completely lost by the bombings and war explosions.

There's also the Roma who were killed the Albanians and many of them have ethnic Albanian names. The Roma have claimed that their people killed by the KLA have been listed as Albanians killed by Serbs.

The Albanians are inflating their numbers.

And Serbian sites did have the names of missing Serbs which numbered greater than 500 and was listed on the Serbian government site back in 2000.

I think when the puppet government took over the names were taken down or the link to them placed elsewhere.

And Serbs do hold up pictures of their missing in demonstrations but the pictures don't get put on the Kosovo Albanian news media nor much the international media.

KV -- i do agree with you, as far as it goes, but there are apparently hundreds of serbs also missing, and at the very least it is fair and right to be investigating this very sensitive situation.

obviously the authorities in belgrade are not the least bit interested in solving war crimes, esp. against K albanians, and with so much of the physical evidence on their own soil. we've gone over this many, many times. the police grounds, the refrigerator trucks, the industrial incinerators... as Biseko says, "we are sleeping on the corpses..." the belgrade authorities must be forced to act, period! and it will only happen with great pressure from the outside, and from advocates like kandic whom i deeply respect.

as for hartmann, i met her once and found her one of the most disagreeable people i have EVER met. what i have said about her, personally, b-92 will not print, and for once they would be right. however, i do agree with her here, that we need to carry on these investigations and work on them together. what the extremists say about it, i do not care, nor can we control. but we must take the moral high ground. it is the only way.

The Serbian govt is simply not interested in investigating some 2000 Kosovar missing in Serbia proper --- their interest is at chasing fictional stories from diaries.

If 300, 400, or 500 Kosovar serbs are missing than why hasn't the Serbian government posted their names on their propaganda website?!? We are reminded by our missing, we have posted our loved ones pictures in the front of the Kosovar Parliament.
