Mr. Tadic!! Serbia should delay its ambition to join the EU until this body respect international law and its UN recognized borders. Serbia cannot join the EU while at the same time fight for Kosovo. The EU itself is the OCCUPIER of Kosovo.

Yes we know that Serbia will benefit economically by joining this body but the question is will Serbia work to a bunch of states who obviously occupying 20% of its territory and supporting the separatists in Pristina like Hashim Thaci .

Serbia should think about it carefully….

Mr. TADIC

Assume that you have Kosovo back, what you would do:
- Put some people in jail, how many of them 100.000, a million, two milions?!
- Put some wires with electricity around albanian border?!?
- tell them to learn serbian in schools (how many children are grown up since serbian rule left Kosovo), albanian children from age 7 - 18 don't speak and understand any serbian anymore.
- collect taxes!?
- bring the serbian army?
- bring the serbian police?!

Come on this would work.. and YOY KNOW that very well, stop fooling yourself and people of Serbia.

It is not the territpry, it is the people that make a country.

The Serbs and the Kosovo Albanians could not form a single democratic society. That is clear to all. And the Kosovo Albanians would never accept to be a permanent "minority" that is to say, people of whom nothing depends in regards of the country they live in.
So what is the point of more negotiations???
The Serbian position will remain on the line: "Because of the historical development, Kosovo was included within the Internationaly Recognized International borders of Serbia and that is the end of it. Then they will point to territories where Serbians were a majority, but they were not given the chance to become independent, ia some cases they were even cthnically clense.
It is clear that NOBODY in the West would accept such arguments. And the Serbs will keep feeling humiliated. And humiliation is a bad recepy for good relations.
Is there a way out?
The chance to blaim it all on Milosevic has been missed by the Wester power's decision to protract the Kosovo's independence. It may now be argued that Milosevic did not "lose" Kosovo (declaration 1244).

The hard task for the democratic politicians of Serbia today is to convince the Serbian people that the formal acknowlagement of Kosovo being part of Serbia does not preserve Serbian dignity, but the guaratee on the Serbs rights in Kosovo by the West, their property, the Church properties etc, as well as the removal of the visa regime for the EU will help.

Bganon, we all know that you are very pro Tadic and very anti Nikolic but it doesn't do anyone any good to be fighting a different battle now.
Elections have come and gone so let's see what can be done with what we have.

The last thing we need here is Serbs arguing amongs themselves here. Without unity Kosovo will be gone for sure.

>> Serbia should remain calm and be patient. A so called Kosovo state will FAIL

"Calm and quiet" means no EU trade or money. Serbia will fall first. Kosovo will be maintained by EU and maybe they'll issue some working visas to get some more money in. They started this so they cannot let it fail.

The politicians in Serbia are all fighting very hard to keep their place in the political scene.

Obviously at this time, whoever gives up on Kosovo, will not have enough support by the public.

A long process has to take place in order to surpess Serbian public opinion on this matter. As time goes by, the politicians will be forced to "rare out" the anti-Kosovo talk. Only once Kosovo moves away from the spotlight, that's when Serbia's politicians will be able to safely give it up.

'Tadic cannot deliver EU membership or defend Kosovo'.

And Seselj and company can deliver both right? Excuse me whilst I pause for a quick burst of laughter...

No really the idea that the SRS and company could do one of those two is just pie in the sky.

at the end Kosovo has its own constitution, which to me is not a surprise. It is the end of a 100 years-long history of occupation, autonomy and independence, in which the Albanian-majority strived for self-determination. The definitive step to it was Milosevic's stupid move to take away the autonomy of the province. It was clear that after that experience every offer from the side of Serbia to restore this autonomy, couldn't be accepted. A next Serbian potentat might be able to take it away again. The indepence of Kosovo is the logical consequence of the bad ruling of Serbian governments in the past. Even now you can hear a lot of Serbian voices painting Albanians as second-class citizens. How could they expect that the Albanians would trust them after what happened in the past?

Sooner or later those who voted for DS and Tadic will become fed up with them and serious unrest will happen in Serbia prompting Tadic to step down, it is just a matter of time.

Tadic cannot deliver EU membership or defend Kosovo, this fact will become clear in the weeks and months to come.

now the assets of Serbia at any negotiation table are shrinked to a minimum. strategically it was a fatal deciscion to leave Troika negotiations and to refuse the helping hand, although it was known by Serbia which process started with the decision of walking out.

a NO is never an asset.

"Only the UN Security Council has jurisdiction to make such a decision. The EULEX mission is welcome in Kosovo under two conditions: that it is preceded by a UN SC decision and that it does not implement the Ahtisaari plan, which includes Kosovo's supervised independence," Tadić concluded.
Equally saying: we want a triangle with four sides. EULEX is created just as a State-building or even nation-building mission: mission impossible, but this is its duty. It's pitiful to seek impossible solutions in order to avoid the inevitable decisions.
