"Mladić, best proof of cooperation"

The Dutch ambassador to Belgrade says the best proof of Serbia’s complete cooperation with the Hague Tribunal would be the extradition of Ratko Mladić.

The Dutch still feel guilty about Srebrenica as their generals cooperated with Mladic. To whitewash themselves from this stain, politicians try to act like Europe's "last moral bastion" and force Serbia into acting like the U.S. wants it.
(But even if all the culprits are in the Hague, Serbia's problems won't be solved as it is perceived as a Russian satellite and some other nation might come up with an excuse to block our entry to the E.U.)

We simply came too late.

Well suffice to say Mladic should hand himself over.

Personally I have not heard a good argument as to why the country should suffer as a result of literally a few individuals who won't go the Hague. Its selfish and it doesnt help ordinary people in Serbia, quite the opposite.

Nobody sane will say that the Hague is a fair institution. The verdicts of Oric and Haradinaj were particularly offensive, as hand on heart, we all know, despite the way most of us will line up behind our ethnic group.

But there is something else going on here and people that don't like Hague justice should be aware of it. A number of those that oppose sending Serbs to the Hague also oppose trying Mladic etc at all. In other words it is not Hague (in)justice that is the problem, it is the fact that certain people are happy to let suspected crimes go unanswered. That is the wrong way to go about things. These men must answer for their actions.

Slavko,

Real Serbs don't recognize that sham that you seem to worship, the Hague. It is not a real court and we all know it. Tell your colleagues, Natasa Kandic, Cedo Jovanovic, and Sanja Biserko, that if they have lost their fight to demonize and blacken the Serbian nation. The truth is out and the evidence is OVERWHELMING that the Serbs were the biggest victims, yes VICTIMS of the wars. The NATO lies and propoganda turned out to be just that, shameless lies and propoganda without any basis.
And no, I will not 'shut up'. Never.

Cheers!

Everybody knows that the Hague court is an entity set up for political purposes. However, the facts remain that slaughter, rape and destruction of religious and cultural monuments took place under Mladic.

Those who continue to deny or seek to discuss crimes of others to distract from this case are condoning (either by choice or they are unaware) the actions of a man who ordered the slaughter, rape and torture of civilians.

My Serb brothers and sisters as Christians and humans you cannot wish that such a man goes without trial and punishment. Stand up and speak the truth. If you cannot do that at least keep quiet.

To Slavko:

So what do you have to say about bosnian muslim and albanian war criminals who slaughtered Serbs, and who did not face justice? Everyone else in the balkans can call their generals heroes, but only Serbia can't, only Serbian generals are war criminals.

I support Serbia - on Kosovo in particular.

However, there is nothing right in defending murder. This sort of nationalism does Serbia no good and lots of harm.

Send Mladic to the Hague - he certainly has a case to answer. I don't care where it is answered as long as the evidence is presented and the world can see that justice was achieved.

As for his defenders - you hurt Serbia by associating your country with murder. Do you really think that resorting to blaming the rest of the world will achieve anything?

NATO is composed of lots of countries full of people who saw the cynical attitude that justified cold-blooded murder - and didn't like it. Why should they feel any different now when you defend Mladic?

Send not another Serb to the Hauge... the only court that should prosecute these people are the national Serbian court and nothing else. This is a matter for Serbia to handle since the alleged crimes took place on Serbian territory (Republika Srpska, Republika Srpska Krajina, Kosovo) therefore only Serbs should be responsable for bringing these people to justice.

Come on Daniel, Serbia gave up Milosevic because it was the best way to keep him from getting back power. Serbia gave up Milosevic because he was a danger to the new ruling class, not because they believed in justice. The proof is that Mladic, posing no danger to the current government and being regarded as a hero, is not being arrested.

Not going to happen, ever! Its about time that the US squeeze these hold-out's who are blocking Serbia's bid for EU, just as they squeezed some 30 plus countries in recognizing Kosovo. If the Americans don't do this and soon, Tadic well lose favor with the people that voted for him and we may have serious unrest against Tadic for not delivering on his promises, or is that what the FOOL Bush administration wants? How this benefits them is bewildering?

Get lost. When a well known war criminal is freed (Naser Oric) because of his knowledge of US involvement in Bosnia, i.e. transpoarting Jihadi fighters from Arab countries into Bosnia, why should Mladic be answerable for anything?

When Oric receives justice, then Mladic should. Until then, I hope he's chilling out and enjoying life just like Naser Oric is no doubt in a cafe bar in downtown Sarajevo.

The best proof of cooperation of the western powers would be handing over Clark, Albright, Clinton & the rest to be tried in Serbia or in a international non-show-non-anglo-american tribunal.
