"But do you honestly think that preserving this state of limbo will actually serve your people better? Regardless of your likings, the Republic of Kosovo does exist, and thinking that one day someone will magically turn the clock back is purely delusional.
(Nemini Secundus, 7 June 2008 19:25)"

Actually I think it suits Serbia just fine to keep Kosovo unrecognized at the UN. As much as it suited China, Georgia and Greek Cyprus to keep the Taiwanese, Akhazians and Turkish Cypriots locked out too.

Nemini,

“…and neither did serbia or K-serbs ever wanted to integrate in the first place. But do you honestly think that preserving this state of limbo will actually serve your people better?…”

You, Albanians, were very good in refusing to integrate in SFR Yugoslavia, even despite the fact that you were equal to any other citizen and prospered greatly.

Kosovo and Metohija Serbs are on their land, Serbia, very well integrated.

Now you want to make those Serbs second rate citizens of your Great, mythical “Dardania”, and rule over them as you used to do during long centuries of terror in Ottoman Empire. You find strange that they resist that?

“…Regardless of your likings, the Republic of Kosovo does exist, and thinking that one day someone will magically turn the clock back is purely delusional…”

Well, what precisely exist in the Serb province of Kosovo and Metohija is a matter of debate. What should be clear to everyone is then neither you nor we are ever going to stop fighting for this land.

Don’t you think that it is rather strange that Albanians who are considering themselves descendants of some murky prehistoric nation that developed European civilization and who are proclaiming all other nations recent newcomers, strangers, who should go back where they came from, (what is 1 500 years after all, blink of an eye), accuse Serbs of wanting to turn clock back? And Serbs just want to preserve their EXISTING state intact.

We don’t expect any magic. We will keep defending our country, regardless of anything.

With all due respect, it is somehow ironic that certain participants to this forum now want UNMIK to stay...after boycotting it since it came in!Well, I do see a reason- UNMIK did not do much to consolidate Kosovo as integrate its ethnic minority into its lawful institutions (i.e those created after 1999) and neither did serbia or K-serbs ever wanted to integrate in the first place. But do you honestly think that preserving this state of limbo will actually serve your people better? Regardless of your likings, the Republic of Kosovo does exist, and thinking that one day someone will magically turn the clock back is purely delusional.

You wish EA. You think the EU will allow those countries in? They may be arrogant but they aren't stupid. Its funny Albanians see the need to comment on this news site non stop and critisse the Serbs for their "unrealistic" out look. Ya right... coming from people who think the EU is a smiles and sunshine with no strings attached. Do you know when you will see those countries in the EU? Never.

The EU needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Isolation of Serbia is the only chance of survival for the EU as an entity. The only reason Russia supports Serbia becoming a part of the EU is that Putin knows to reestablish themselves as a superpower they must first divide and conquer.
To integrate a country that has not met the most elementary level of stability will only spread through the Union like an epidemic. The saying that one bad apple spoils the whole barrel is very true in this case.

The thing is that Serbia is isolating itself and that is its choice. "Adeguate measures" to bring Serbia within the EU doesn't mean using different standards for Serbia. Balkan countries should all together be allowed in the EU as it size is less than Poland on its own. No Balkan country should have any rights to block the entry of the other AND they must recognise each other.
