Rote-Kapella. I wish to respond to your comments regarding your sceptisism about Russia's position. You must understand, that unlike the USA, Russia does not want to interefere or appear to interefere with the internal politics of another soverign nation. Serbia is a soverign nation. Russia respects the right of Serbia to form a government themselves. I fear that some Serbian politicians might betray Russia before Russia ever thinks of betraying Serbia.

Thank you everyone for the information. Is there a mechanism for splitting the Socialists’ coalition without new elections? Looking on from the outside, it seams new elections and the splitting of the Socialist coalition are the DS’s ultimate goal.

Cedo Jovanovic and Markovic would make sickening viewing in the 'Big Brother house" together.

Both ought to be ousted from any position in any government.

Send them both to Albania, no, thats too close...further

I smelt something fishy about Marković from the beginning. He's a nobody with an thirst for attention. He formed his own urban city party ironically named by something Serbia doesn't have (Unity) so he can keep his fat hands in his deep pockets. Frankly I don't want JS in the DSS,SRS,SPS bloc. DS can have this self loving piece of trash.

I honestly hope he gets busted for his criminal past and gets is phony party shut down for good.

I haven't got a clue as to why he even entered a pre-coalition with SPS if he loved ZES so much, its not as if his "party" has any socialist views. Dacic should order him to obey his commitment to the coalition leader (SPS) and form a coalition with who they wan,t or expel him out right. I won't have this tool hold the country hostage.

One final thing, this moron says Serbia needs the SAA because that will only guarantee jobs and invest and bla bla bla what he fails to understand, and you don't have to be a genius to see it, is this SAA is empty. We don't get anything from it until we find Mladic, it would be different if we got access to funds NOW but we don't and we won't. Kostunica is a professor of law, and he understands these documents. If he says they are no good then guess what? They aren't! I'll take his word over a peasants any day!

Yes Markovic was allied with Arkan, who first entered parliament under Milosevic. Both took a nationalist stand in the 1990's. Arkans record as a paramilitary is well known and his role in the past caused division among Serbs. However, Serbs (in Serbia) are much more unified on what they thought of Arkan the mafia boss - they did not like him, or his quest for power and riches, although he could also be charming.

There is no evidence that Markovic belonged to this type of 'organisation', but its likely that, like Arkan, he enjoys money.

On the other hand there are rumours that both blocks are threatening Markovic, to expose something he did in the past. Perhaps prosecution and imprisonment is being threatened - although that can only happen if he backs the losing horse. He stated that he was being threatened recently.

In any case it was known some time back that he was a trojan horse in the patriotic block. Although, some patriotic supporters didn't believe this because they were blinded by his 'patriotic' credentials.

Anyway, he is the power broker and it looks like he is not wavering. At the moment it looks like repeat elections could really occur. That would not be good for the patriotic block.

The problem is not the SPS stance but in Russia's uncertain behavior. In case Russia has provided the Serbian patriots just half of the moral support that the other side has rendered to the local cosmopolitans there would be a SRS-DSS government formed already .

Russia behaves as if it doesn't care who will head the Cabinet. One declaration that we are ready to invest here as much as the Serbian economy can swallow would have changed the situation drastically. Maximum the Serbs can accept is about USD 8 to 10 Bln which are peanuts for Russia.

Sergey we both know that whatever has happened after WW-2 and even after 1999 they are the only one European nation who never betrayed us. So the problem is not in the Serbian prostitutes bargaining over the state power. Initially the problem has emerged from Russia's uncertainty over the Serbian internal affairs.

Can someone give some background on this guy Markovic? I understood him to be a nationalist who was associated with Arkan and was part of DSS coalition in the last parliament. So where is this newly discovered “globalism” coming from? His stance is particularly confusing since Светозаревоe was apparently one of the main targets of the NATO bombing. Is he being paid off? What is being said about his motivation? Help the rest of us understand.

JS are just chancers. If there is any way for SRS/DSS to form a government without them, it should be done. I do not like this guy Markovic. It is sad that this fellow has influence now. Somebody should manners on him.
