The EU and US need Serbia to be as close to Europe as possible. Concessions will be made due to the close ties Serbia has with Russia. With Russian influence growing, US has a huge interest in what happens in Serbia. Albania and the so called "Kosovars" are being aided by the West in case Serbia stays close to Russia and military and economic presence is necessary on behalf of the US to counter that threat. The US has attempted to inject as much influence in helping to create the EU to protect its own interests in the neverending saga of what we all know as the cold war. The fact is that the EU will never last because the continent of Europe is one of the most segregated regions in the world. The US has made the mistake of assuming that the American model will be successful in European culture. We all know that this is not realistic. Once the EU disintegrates, which will happen sooner than later, what happens to Albanian interests at that point? No one will care and the Kosovo "issue" will resolve itself. Historical allies will once again come together and Kosovo will remain a Serbian territory. Nothing will prevent this inevitable outcome, mostly due to the nature of European politics and the repetative nature of European history. What Serbia has done or not done based on Western media propaganda is irrelevant. The fact is that most of Europe has a true understanding of what has transpired in Kosovo over the past 10 years. As of now, certain interests prevail, but Europe will soon realize that in order for the continent to survive infiltration by fundamentalists, the past will have to be revisited. Unfortunately for some, Albanian interests will be on the wrong side at that point.

>> Albanians need to realize that no country in Europe sees this area as productive or positive for the common good of European society.

Albania is doing whatever the the Europe wants. Serbia on the other hand has been doing what these past 20 years...?
You keep your prejudices, we will see.

@Ataman
Mr.Ataman Italy has his own problems like most of Eu countries from South to North..
But a recent opinion poll has given simple and clear information to our dear politicians...Only one countries has received a small majority for the yes (Croatia maybe because is a tourist place for us )but all the other have received a loud NO..Maybe you don't know but here are ready referendum in case some stupid politicians or eurocrats will say yes to any membership and the same for other countries so ..maybe i have been optimistic in giving 2030 as a date...
All Eurocrats are playing the game of Cat and Mouse with Western Balkans and here is funny to read how many people are debating their liars with passion !

Neither the Albanian faction in Kosovo nor Albania itself are closer to Europe than the Ottoman Turks were over the last 700 years. Albanians need to realize that no country in Europe sees this area as productive or positive for the common good of European society. A majority of people in these regions are interested in smuggling drugs into Western Europe or competing with the Sicilian mafia for control over southern European organized crime. Believe me, Serbia has always been an integral part of European culture, going back to the middle ages. Albanian factions have always leaned towards Turkey and the Middle East for Religious reasons. For now, the EU and the US are utilizing Albania and Albanian Kosovo for thier own interests, but that will also come to an end in the foreseeable future. There is no doubt in my mind that Serbia is much closer to the EU!

David JOnes is right!! Serbia will enter the EU with Kosovo as it's southern province. EU has no legal basis to change the border of serbia but only the UN and serbia itself.

Luigi, we had some experience with companies from southern part of an E.U. country. I could write a little funny story about it. I still plan to be alive for many decades, so don't ask, I won't tell. It happened in a serious industry full of serious and boring people. Have no idea, how did we stomp on these godfatherly critters.

In that spirit, if you say "2030 for Serbia and 2032 for Kosovo" than I say:
"Some people look for a straw in the eye of their peers, but do not see a pole in their own"

In any case, that E.U. country has a long "honey-do" list for them self.

@Kufr: this is absolutely correct in the Serbia-Kosovo controversy. There is a relatively small but very powerful and evil group in a large, powerful country who in their endless greed for power and money try to open fake gates as wide as they can and lure victims to the path of Evil. They do it while covering them self with fig leaves of religiousness, patriotism and righteousness.

Leaders of that group probably pray in the dark NOT to face the judgement of their deeds.... because they fear, they could get tough questions.

Albanians need to solve the problems with Serbs 1:1, without evil "friends" opening these convenient gates.

Jovan

Serbia won´t enter the EU without it´s southern province. so much for european illusions.

and Kosovo will never enter the EU without Serbia. so much for albanian illusions.

those poor tricks are useless. Serbia knows very well that it is in the EU´s interest to have Serbia enter the Union, sooner rather than later, but ...they are pretending as if it were not that way.

Serbia has all the time, and all the right to stay strong on the Kosovo-issue. because international law is strong.

some are only trying to pretend as if everything is possible, if only the will is there...but my dear albanian friends will realize that they are being duped and this will happen later rather than sooner. :)

bottom-line is: it´s too late for the EU. face saving is not possible anymore...

Princip,
Tadic is too busy spreading propoganda about the 'will of the people', trying to change electoral mathematics, trying to denounce Serbian patriots, and doing what Solana's boys tell him. How can he possibly have time to defend Serbia's national interests? Vladimir Putin is doing a much better job of defending Serbia than that minion.

Kufr,
Very wise saying. I'm not sure where you got that, but here here!

So the independence of Kosovo is "inevitable"? Repeating the same phrase over and over again will not make it true. Of course entry to the EU is dependent on whether the "Serbs make the necessary decision". And i guess that decision is whether or not to sign away their land to theives, only to appease powers that lose nothing. Tell you what; since you want to give the albanians their own land, invite them to france. I'm sure you can find a place to put them. Or even better, talk to the americans to let them in there.
As for the serbs looking the future, what future do you see for them? Having their land taken away piece by piece until they are refugees and paupers in their own country? But of course that would suit you. The EU needs a pool of cheap labour on the continent to keep the economies of the leading powers fat and happy.
No Mr. Jouyet, kosovo is serbia and you can repeat that because it is the truth.

Yes, it may very well be true that the path to EU is wide and the gate to Kosovo is narrow. But remember this quote from the most famous book:

"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."

The games the EU like to play. Just like the EU mission's legitimacy lies within 1244 but they fail to mention it requires an invitation by the UN secretary general.

Just like they claim Kosovo's independence is "inevitable" but fail to mention it requires UN approval.

Everything leads back to one thing, at that is Serbia's approval. The answer, my dear EU and Albanian friends - just in case it isn't clear, is No to Kosovo independence!

It is being blocked at the UN, blocked at the EU and blocked by the overwhelming majority of the world's nations.

Enough of this US and EU deceit. Wake up Albanians, you are being duped! Your "independent Kosova" is just a story being written by the occupiers. Sooner or later that story will end.
