Hello rolerkoster,

If "economic issues" are not my "strength", then being able to differentiate between political rhetoric and reality is not yours.

Give my regards to Alice next time you see her. :)

dear willie,

economical issues seem not to be your strength. about the economical divergence between promises and results: just ask people in Novi Sad, why SRS was not elected a second term.

you say write ...

Economic potential:
Private capital will go where it feels secure and believes profit can be made.

So, in the short term, I see little difference between a ZeS or SRS lead government.

answer: face the nature of SRS first. a government including this party means no economical reforms, because their voting base is in favor of a Serbia, which works like in the 70ies. look at the country! convince yourself, on which standard people are living there? they live on a standard of the 70ies. go to Novi Beograd, where the SRS has the greatest stonghold. people there have less than they had in the 70ies - less education, less income and less perspectives. you would be shocked to see this side of Serbia. and if you are not shocked, then go south of Belgrade.

Hello bganon,

I was just pondering your comment on another thread that the DS ploy to delay the convening of Belgrade's parliament was a "Kostunica" type trick.

Why is it that if Kostunica acts like Kostunica it is wrong, damaging and should be criticised; but when the DS acts like Kostunica, it should be praised and welcomed?

Regarding your questions...

SAA Annulment:
I've already stated in other threads that this "grandstanding" was abysmal politiking by the DSS and they are now paying the price.

Economic potential:
Private capital will go where it feels secure and believes profit can be made.

So, in the short term, I see little difference between a ZeS or SRS lead government. The medium term will be dictated by their respective policy towards intl. institutions and political policy. The long term will be dictated by their economic policy and performance over the prior two terms.
So, in my opinion, it is NOT altogether certain that ZeS will automatically deliver faster and greater sustainable economic growth and prosperity to Serbia than SRS. It all depends on how SRS perform if they form a government. The responsibilities of office are very different to "grandstanding" from opposition.

I will join these protests with a poster with the number '16' on it to remember Serbia: 16 Serbs could be alive, if they would have been warned by information minister Aleksander Vucic in 1999.

One for you Willie, what concerns you more - the economic impact a DSS/SRS government would have upon Serbia, or the about turn of the centrepiece of the DSS campaign, which was to annul the SAA.

Not quite a 'how often do you beat your wife' type of question, but... :)

Both concern me. Neither of those questions you raise concern me really. I'm used to traffic chaos in Serbia and I'm used to politicians interpreting laws for their own gain.

But like I said I doubt any such protests would be large scale.

Of course it's "grandstanding". This is Serbia. Or have you forgotten. :)

PS. Which concerns you the most: the DS's manipulation of 'democratic values' or further traffic chaos?

Aha, I spy a mix up.
I thought it was being alleged that the alliance of traitors led by DS were organising protests.

Maybe the right can have a crack at a presidential coup whilst they are at it, after all we were promised by some enthusiastic SRS/DSS supporters that Tadic would be ousted by the new parliament!

Mind you a lot of things have been promised, and now withdrawn, not least of which is the annulment of the SAA.

So I get the feeling this is all just more hot air and grandstanding.

I was waiting for protests and I believe the SRS are the best party to organise them.

This is the true face of the DS. The deceit and dirty tricks never end and that should be clear to the Serbian people.

The DS and their "coalition to sell Serbia to Europe" will be history soon enough!
