Well done Lisa you're absolutely right.
This name has been brought to as by force,(please ask yourself who are this people).
You'r the first serbian who admit that ALBANIA was much bigger country before.
Kosovo name its not our name Albania is our real name
We Albanians don't like this name as well.
We are working on it, thank you for reminding us.
Thank you Liberia, Siera Leone, Lisa.

It's very sad to see all the hatred being displayed in these comments, reading about everyones opinions from all sides. They are all very negative oppinions and only common sense will reveal the truth to all parties. In this case the "Common Sense Facts" are as follows: It is a known fact that the name "Kosovo" really is a Serbian name and not Albanian. There is no such word in the Albanian language unless of course the Albanians may have adopted the word Kosovo to their advantage. If anyone would honestly want to ever get to the truth behind all the crazy stories and lies being told about Kosovo, then all they have to do is simply look up the meaning of the word "Kosovo" in the Serbian dictionary and this "common sense" action will reveal the truth everyone is after! The plain truth about the roots and meaning of the word "Kosovo" is as follows: Kosovo, not Kosova, really is a Serbian word meaning "to Scythe". Scythe's were used to farm the lands for centuries, at the time the Serbs, not the Albanians, named Kosovo, before the inventions of modern day machinery. Therefore "Kosovo", a state proverence of Serbia, the heart of Serbian civilization and Christianity, is in all truth Serbia! So for all of those who are really still in doubt as to whether or not Kosovo is Serbia, you can very easily solve that issue by using some common sense by researching the name as well as the meaning so that you can trace the name to Serbia's roots! Yes, Kosovo really and truly is Serbia! If more people would take the time to think and to do the research to discover the truth on matters which are causing worldwide problems instead of arguing and fighting childishly because of their own beliefs, our God given planet Earth will become a much better and safer place to live for all of us.

My dear Shqiptar (Albanian) friends, whether you are from Kosova or Albania or other Albanian lands, I say, do not mind attention to Serbian posters such as Jovan or Dragan who have false history..they base their "facts" from SANU.

SANU is a Serbian Government run agency that spread propaganda lies against Kosovar Albanians.

SANU = Serbian Acedemy of Arts and Sciences.

Click here (http://postconflict.unep.ch/publications/finalreports.pdf) to read a PDF version (in Serbian) of how Serbian politicians spread this lie that "the albanians in kosovo are genociding Serbs".

SANU has done great work in rewriting history and brainwashing Serbs to believe that THEY were the ones fighting the "evil ottomans" when in fact that battle of 1389 was between Albanians, Serbs, Montenegrians, Bulgarians, Croatians, and others AGAINST the Ottomans.

Al

Serbs were VASSALS and among many other things helped Turks fight Christians in the Second Kosovo battle (stopped Albanian Gjergj Kastrioti) and Nicopolis where Lazarevic helped kill those Christian knights that managed to escape. Gjergj Kastrioti--an Albanian--won 13 battles against Turks whereas Lazar lost one and surrendered.

Read on WWII. The "Division" collapsed in 8 months, all left because they wanted to get Serb settlers out, not because they liked Hitler. Yu surrendered in 11 days and Draza collaborated, and fought the only force fighting the Nazis, Tito. Also read about Nedic and being the first to be Judenrein . I can't believe you brought this in.

We fought the Turks more than you did, and we were alone, we didn't have Mother Russia to back us up. We didn't pay taxes, and got paid to fight a lot when we did (not a vassal) The Sultan's Imperial Guard was made of ...Albanian soldiers. Turks were scared of us and left us alone, you on the other hand, were vassals.

yes cees, of course not every Albanian is bad and also not every Serb is good...but that´s not the point!

there are some historical truths you seem to push away from your consciousness...

Serbia WAS INDEED always on the side of moral, justice and liberty.

some ethnicities with the former Yugoslavia have actively supported fascist regimes, killed and tortured their neighbours willingly for the foreign occupiers and it´s simply nothing anti-ablanian to point out that the Albanians are the last to blame Serbia or the Serbs in general for inhumanity, let´s just get that straight here!

there are a lot of good, honest and hardworking Albanians who just want to raise their kids and live a peaceful life, and those are the ones who are getting serbian documents in Niš, but do not want to get photographed or filmed, because they know about the criminal greater albanian extremists who would kill them as "traitors", only for being loyal to the rightful sovereign in the southern serbian province of Kosovo.

As for the Albanians, well you have always been on the side of wrong - from when you were islamicized by the Turks, to your Skenderbeg Nazi SS divisions, to your organ trafficking leaders today. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

It's amazing how the Serbian side always comes with the word 'truth', without a piece of self-critic. If the history of Serbia was so heroic, why now and then are they losing control of themselves? Of course are all the stories about the Serbian atrocities 'LIES', like some Germans still believe that their WWII stories are lies.
Accepting the real history of your country, and not denying the several facts, brought together by neutral instances as: Amnesty International or International Human Right Centers, could bring the Serbian people to real 'greatness'. Don't believe the kind of history you can read in your history-(school)books, because every nation on earth is telling only their positive sides. Remain critical especially to yourselves!!
You don't have only good Serbs and only bad Albanians, and every Serb knows where I am talking about.

If one thinks that raising a flag was not important, or it did not count for anything then why is the serbian foreign minister complaining about it? The fact that Mr. Jeremic took time out of his busy schedule to complain about this occurrence in the name of Serbia shows how important the Kosovo’s flag raising was. PRN,

I am on of those Serbs that you are referring to. Your lies and propoganda have no basis. Serbia has a proud and honourable history, it is YOUR history that is shameful. Serbia has always been on the side of right, the side of justice, as it is today. As for the Albanians, well you have always been on the side of wrong - from when you were islamicized by the Turks, to your Skenderbeg Nazi SS divisions, to your organ trafficking leaders today. Let me make one thing clear to you 'my albanian friend'. You will never live at ease in your newly fake state. All Serbs have Kosovo deep in their heart, it is where it all started, and it is what makes us who we are today. We will all teach our kids that Kosovo is Serbia and Serbia is Kosovo, and they will teach their kids, and they will teach their kids....and so on, and so on....
The geopolitical situation in the world is changing, and things are changing to our advantage. Kosovo WILL be fully controlled by Serbia. That is not a threat 'my albanian friend', but a promise :). Until then, enjoy life in your temporary NATO controlled fake and immoral state.
Cheers!

To my dear Albanian friends. Let me just say that I am personally glad that you have created this "independent" entity called "Kosova" because I am not really interested in arguing with you about it. If you believe that "Kosova" is independent, then fine, live in your "independent" entity with your new "constitution" funded by your EU/US masters but please, can you show the same repect to those wanting to live in reality? You cannot and never will control the minds of Serbians.

I am glad you do not call it Kosovo, like Serbia and the rest of the world because it makes it easy for the casual observer to distinguish between the fiction of "Kosova" from the reality of "Kosovo".

If you believe in props like your flag, the Ahtisaari plan and signs saying "Velcom to Kosova", then great. If like Mr Q here, you believe you have the right to put your flag anywhere then pat yourself on the back and say "I am a proud Albanian".

But instead of putting it up in a studio at the European Parliament, can you put it to the real test and have it on display at the UN? You see, that is the only place reserved for real nations. So if what you say is true, I'm sure the UN will have no issues.

So Mr Q, that is your challenge otherwise, just like the 50 recommendations in 5 minutes that PRN gets, it's just a load of hogwash.

Believe in you made up stories by all means but just understand that in those parts of Kosovo you don't control, we prefer to live in reality.

As much as I'm a fan of Eddie Izzard's standup comedy, particularly his theory of Flags and Countries,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEx5G-GOS1k

I'm afraid that just doesn't work in the real world. According to some here, flying a flag and having a "Welcome to (insert your country's name here)" sign qualifies you to be an independent state.

Independence means uncontested sovereignty over the territory one claims to own. Does Serbia have sovereignty over Kosovo? Not anymore. But do the Albanians have sovereignty over Kosovo? I'm afraid not. With the EU, the UN, NATO, the US, and even Serbia involved, calling the shots, providing the security, speaking on its behalf and such, Kosovo, as I said yesterday, as I say today, and as I bloody may likely say tomorrow, is NOT an independent state. It is a colony of the EU.

I would apply the same criteria if RS tomorrow declared its independence, was patrolled by Serb and Russian military forces and was politically represented by, oh, I don't know, the Retired Panhandlers of Vrsac or something. If they stuck a flag up a pole and painted a really nice "Welcome to Republika Srpska" sign in both the Ekavican and Iekavican dialect (because they're so multicultural), it wouldn't qualify as a country either, even if it were recognized by a handful of countries as one.

Serbia is the last to say something about hypocracy or international law.

Belgrade broke EVERY international law with regards to treating non-Serbs in F Yugoslavia, by committing the worst crimes against humanity (since WWII)in the 1990s, whereas today stays in a kind of Balkan corner (isolated) raising a hand and claiming: "what is happening to Kosovo, RSK etc is not in line with international law"...

SHAME, SHAME on those who deny Serbia's shamefull past!!!

HYPOCRACY of morality is going to accompany SERBIA as long as such denying-reality-forces want to make the black look white for Serbia's dark past.

All in all, you should be HUMAN before claiming to be a Serb...

If you continue like this soon EP will raise Vojvodina's flag next to the one of Kosovo, already placed...and flags may not with not stop with this only...Sanjak and Presevo Valley may line up too....

These theatrical stunts just demonstrate the complete desperation coming from the independence camp. It will just serve to divide the EU further and Serbia should just ignore it or expose it for what it really is.

This is an EU production shot in an EU studio for Albanian consumption. It gives them hope for a lost cause because the EU is not the UN.

I can not resist but write after reading this ridiculous comments about imaginary state or fake state etc. Why people are being so blind and not see the reality. Kosova is independent state and has it's own flag and has the right to display it anywhere they want. Serbia did not recognised Slovenia for years but where is Slovenia today. Honestly the only bit of Kosova that Serbia is going to claime as hers is going to be the Serbian embassy and that is it. Believe you me everybody knows that, starting from Tadic, Kostunica, Nikolic even the baby Jeremic, and you name it.

Dear all,

To all serbs!

In reality Kosovo is an independent state. We can see that by the border with serbia where it stands ' Welcome to the republic of Kosovo'. The serbian police or for that matter the serbian goverment can not take down this sign. Kosovo and it's citizens have their own goverment, own instututions, own policekorps and soon their own army. WHen the constutution comes in force Kosovo goverment wont have more to do with Serbia at all. Then it will be the law who rules everything and the person who brakes the law will be going to prison. That's it.

Hallo Serb community
what the hell would you like to do in Kosovo. Realize that there is people living there, they were born and are living there and these people are Albanian. You have tried to deploy them, you have tried to kill them, You are ignoring their existance from the beginning, You have repressed them the worst way, but they are still living there. Of course most of you have never been in Kosovo. Your politicians get outraged even if they hear -human rights and albanians.

What a joke!!  you call denial of basic human rights, repression, killing thousands of people and trying to ethnically cleanse Kosovo from Albanians ‘being on the side of right’??…I am not even going to bother listing atrocities in Croatia, and Bosnia.

Who is the insecure one here…I doubt it is the Kosovars.
P.S. Thank you Liberia!!

The truth hurts, doesn't it?

Cheers!

Inconsitancies and Double Standards (DS) are blatant and obvious given that Rehn sees no trouble that EU representatives such as Rupel and Solana can publically and unequivocally uphold the territorial integrity and sovreignty of a country on the cusp of geographic Europe - Georgia but act against Serbian sovereigntyy - a country they cynically suggest they want to be an "equal partner" in the EU and apparently are "friends of Serbia" with such attacks on its sovereignty!

We have heard all these Double Standards (DS) before

"Independent Kosova"? Tell someone who cares.

those albanian comments are so sweet! :)

as if putting up a sign, or waving a flag ( you call this joke a flag? ) makes you a state, well then...

but if you spend only a second of your wasted lives for thinking about what the world REALITY really means... you will discover that this childrens-games are quite irrelevant.

its international law that counts, my dear friends...

you will see, some day you will reailize it, and I mean realize it in the true meaning of that word...

ps: have you already visited the independend state of "Hollywood"? you know, they have a sign too! its bigger than yours!

they must be a state! :)

Now this is comical. Raise an imaginary flag and all of a sudden you become independent. It couldn't get any easier!

Anything and everything done here is internal to the Albanians only. They can believe whatever they want but Serbia and all loyal citizens would prefer to live in reality.

Just more double talk and more of its hypocritical antics on the part of Brussels. It likes to bandy around side step the issue of its responsibilities of what it has done and shamelessly illegally promotes. They try to hide the truth of its own doing behind the seen and pushing its own agenda of arm twisting the smaller members to get the results it desires in this hole matter how is in charge anyways in Brussels EU. Is it the big members or the appointed bureaucrats as the front puppets of the big member country's that pull their strings behind the seen. It looks like they are beholden to the big members for their jobs or else ,what a unbelievable circus it is in Brussels.

If they stuck a flag up a pole and painted a really nice "Welcome to Republika Srpska" sign in both the Ekavican and Iekavican dialect (because they're so multicultural), it wouldn't qualify as a country either, even if it were recognized by a handful of countries as one.

yes cees, of course not every Albanian is bad and also not every Serb is good...but that´s not the point!

there are some historical truths you seem to push away from your consciousness...
