>>after your greater albanian dream is destroyed.

>>as I have said it several times before, Serbia will enter the EU anyway. the only open question is, under which conditions and circumstances.

We don't care about 'Greater Albania,' look at the polls. We just want to live in peace. As per EU, the more you delay the worst it is. Kosova, something you should not have gotten in the first place, will be gone. And if you continue with demonizing Albanians in sites, media etc. it will make the situation worst.

"I find it quite revealing that Albanian nationalist commenters on this site regularly express enthusiastic support for an SRS-DSS-SPS coalition."

Well, suppose an Albanian "nationalist" said something in support of DS and Ceda Jovanovic.... How would you interpret that?

Whatever we Albanians say, most Serbs will interpret it as lack of love for Serbia, to put it mildly. And it is true, we Albanians have had enough of Serbs and Serbia. I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

I think however, that it is foolish for a Serb voter to judge Serb politicians based on what we Albanians think about them. Thank goodness we are now separated. There is a border, and "good fences" will hopefully make us "good neighbors."

As an Albanian nationalist I would be well pleased if Nikolic strikes a deal with the Socialists. The situation would be much much simpler for all involved.

Once Nikolic comes, Mitrovica goes, Ahtisaari goes, Tirana crumbles, and Prizren rises to take over.

incidentally the Albanians are celebrating 130 years (or so) of the Prizren League.

What was said, will be done

"Nice to see our Serbian neighbors fighting with each other for the sake of my country.
(KV, 29 May 2008 22:03)"

that one made me laugh, and not only once!

1. didn´t you try to make us believe that you are a socalled "bosnian"?

2. you say the Serbs are fighting over "your" country???

well, do you realize that it actually was never yours?

3. as for country...

don´t you see that Kosovo is a serbian province?

even after bombing and burning so many serbian churches and monasteries, you cannot fake it to be yours!

even those stories about those churches being originally albanian churches... I asked you a few times "why you are burning them down then?"

not only you, but every Albanian stayed quiet to that question!

that says it all about you.

your cardhouse of lies and falsifications will collapse, it´s only a question of time.

perhaps then you will call yourself, TX or even AL, since you will be gone to Texas or Alabama... after your greater albanian dream is destroyed.

as for that SAA:

as I have said it several times before, Serbia will enter the EU anyway. the only open question is, under which conditions and circumstances.

right now it looks like Serbia can only win. the price for the EU is rising and rising...and they will have to pay it.

doesn´t look good for the Albanians, but that´s something they will realize rather later than sooner.

I am fine with that, too, until that, they can freely go on amusing us here.

I find it quite revealing that Albanian nationalist commenters on this site regularly express enthusiastic support for an SRS-DSS-SPS coalition. They have good reason; such a coalition would seem to confirm the distorted picture that Albanians in Kosovo have been trying to paint of Serbia over the years as irremediably nationalist and therefore a country where noone could possibly expect them to coexist.

This just goes to show that nationalists are made for each other. They confirm every unflattering stereotype that they have of each others' nationality. Unfortunately, the real-world consequences of their beliefs too often hurt the rest of us.

You need to move on bganon. The elections are over and the DSS/SRS/SPS will shortly form a new government. I'll buy you a rakija when in Belgrade to drown your sorrows.

I do believe that signing the SAA by the DS amounted to the sale of Kosovo but they are not going to be in power so perhaps that transaction cannot be finalised. Yes, I would like to see it annulled, but not at the expense of the DS coming back into power.

You see, a week is a long time in politics and lots of things can change. It looks like Koštunica may have lost the battle for the SAA and that may still come back to haunt Serbia but that's as far as it goes. There will be no ratification unless the EU decides to pull another rabbit out of its hat.

Cheer up, your English skills are very good for a Beogradjan. I assume you lived out of BG for some time.

It always makes one laugh when Albanians come to this site and always express their "concern" as to what will happen to Serbia in the future.

Question: What will a Serbian passport and 10 Euros get you.
Answer: Nothing, once the govt is formed you can't go anywhere to spend Euros with a Serbian passport.

So now Nikolic should be labelled a 'traitor' by Kostunica, right? or wrong? And Kostunica will be prime minister again? this will be very funny, it will reconfirm my opinion of Serbs as the most sarcastic people of the region.

EA

I have advised in the past that for the Serbian people and stability in the region would be good to have a pro-European government. But if the Serbia chooses the Radicals and nationalists instead so be it. As an Albanian that would be a great news as the wave of recognition will follow up vastly and rapidly. Then soon we will have new election in Serbia for the "total loss" of Kosova and the polititans in Serbia will continue blame each other.)))))

bganon

ZK it isn't a surprise from SRS as they didn't say they would annul the SAA in the first place. They were at least consistent.

The big deal about the SAA was made by DSS. Their whole campaign was based upon rejecting it and sowing the propaganda (which you repeated, and strangely don't feel angry about) that any signing of SAA was the sale of Kosovo. We know the talk of hidden chapters and so on. The emotive propaganda that this was 'Solana's' agreement, that this signing by the government was a private deal by DS. The lies went on and on.

Now of course we are all supposed to behave as if nothing happened? No chance.

A week may be a long time in politics but for those of us without goldfish memories the insulting of our intelligence by this U turn is much worse than say were Brown to backtrack on the unpopular 10p tax band.

Why did we have an election at all?

Princip how can you compromise on the sale of Kosovo? I thought that the idea was to reject this, not supposedly compromise. And anyway your argument doesn't stand up for a simple reason. DSS could have compromised with their partners in government, but chose not to. Instead we were forced into the polling booths yet again.

And 'compromise' may be a fine word, but in the world of the cynical (and you are certainly that these days on 'democratic' parties) what DSS is doing is trying to gain power and is willing to compromise on principles, sell Kosovo and do anything else to govern yet again. Obviously Serbian sovereignty can be compromised on as well!

I didn't promote G17 as economically competent. What I stated was that SRS is economically incompetent - a different thing entirely. The way that the G17 / DSS government ran its economic policies was beset by problems, not least the way G17 tended to run their portfolio's like fifedoms, as does DSS with say the police ministry.

I am not convinced that a government with 3 heads will at all be stable. In fact I think it will be the least stable government since 2000. As I said before too many cooks spoil the broth. And Seselj, Kostunica and Nikolic will each have their own ideas on what will be on the menu.

Still, if it happens we will all get the chance to see how it works in practice. That government hasn't even started yet and has already fallen out on DSS central policy on SAA. Not a fine start.

Bganon,

this was always going to be about compromise since that is exactly what a "coalition" government is! Sure Kostunica may not get exactly all that he would have liked but he respects his partners views too and SAA may not be immediatly annulled but it is clear clarity of EU intentions regarding Serbia's sovereignity is very very important to all the coalition partners!

That said I can see many obstacles and hurdles being placed into Serbia's way forward though none of these are insurmountable and are only likely to strengthen the coalition govrnment - so soros inspired 'rent a mob - democracy' parties and NGO's need to comprehend poorly conceived actions ill backfire!

I think DS have much more to lose in the years ahead and realise this only too late that such a coalition as SRS-DS-NS-SPS-PUPS-JS-LS could in fact be very productive, effective and more importantly more stable (which investors want more than anythig else) then any coalition goverenment they have or could have formed!

Sometimes the lack of experience is exactly what is required and I think I mentioned this in a discussion with you before when you promoted G17+ as economically competent yet actually my point is fresh minds and eyes can bring better and new opportunities!

Serbia needs now more then ever a stable and lasting coalition government and I think thses parties can deliver on this and will be very keen to show their "European" character with a Serbian twist of course - it maybe up front and at times crude/unsophisticated but its to the point and you know where you stand!!!

As Harold Wilson once said, “A week is a long time in politics.”

Why such a big deal about the SAA? It is a dud deal that won't be ratified on either the Serbian or the EU side. The condition to insert the new line is just as good as annulling it - which is along the same lines as what Princip UK proposed.

No surprises in this article.

Leave it to Toma to make some sense where Kostunica failed and was forced into a U turn.

I reckon I was wrong in thinking that SRS don't have the potential to govern and that DSS will take all the ministries.

SRS policies seem more moderate and principled rather than the extremism and changes of policy of DSS.

If SRS does win power I want Toma as Prime Minister and not Kostunica.

I heard that Vladeta Jankovic the most intelligent and experienced DSS member, does not want to hold a position in the party any more either. He is said to be fuming about the annulment of the SAA fiasco.

Who can blame him?
