Can you tell me what albans know about democracy? I think they are as far apart as planet x is from the sun.

We albanians might not know very much about democracy, however i can assure you that we are more democrat than serbs thats for sure, for the past 20yrs in Rugova we had one of most peacefull man on earth, maybe it would be good for you people to try to elect someone whome could at least be 10% democrat as he was..

This is nothing more than self serving from the EU thats having a hard time tryinf to userp the UN. The EU has no legitimacy and until as such time as the UN decides to pass over its authority to the EU, they should just shut up as it isn't really helping their cause.

If EULEX takes over after UNMIK it means 1244 is really dead. We must not forget that 1244 is the only valid piece agreement. No more 1244 = no more piece. It would be the same as shredding the Dayton agreement.

Now that the DS and coalition partners will form the next government, you can be sure that the Radicals and Kostunica will no longer force citizens of Serbia to hear about Kosovo 24/7 instead of membership of EU, jobs and social improvement

Michael Thomas

The EULEX occupation of Kosovo must not be tolerated by the UN or Serbia. If the UN backs down and withdraw UNMIK, then Serbia should send in her forces and retake Kosovo.

The fact is that there are only two countries in the world with power to attack and destroy Serbia: America and Russia. No one else would dare to raise their voice against Serbia without the support of one of these two superpowers.

Germany could build up her armed forces and become a third superpower, but that would take 20 years. Britain and France are shadows of their former selves.

The EU propose to support laws and systems that are illegal.

If the UN let the EU in to Kosovo to support the UDI then the UN would be working beyound its current powers. If a 'political settlement' is imposed that goes beyond the purposes of 1244, then Serbia is no longer bound by the strictures of 1244. 1244 would be at and end.

WIth 1244 at an end Serbia could quite legally send its own administration into Kosovo. Without 1244 there is no law apart from the law of Serbia. The UDI is illegal in terms of 1244. The so called 'constitution' will be irrelevant garbage with no legal weight.

It will then be an issue of NATO 'might' rather than international diplomacy. The international press would not support the use of bombing if Serbia was acting within its rights, so NATO would have little power (other than against any illegal use of force).

If the EU move in to Kosovo in support of the UDI then In my view, Serbia must consider sending in its own administration to Kosovo (certainly in areas where it can do so relatively easily). Serbia should also consider (for an interim period) nominating the UDI government as being the current autonomous government in terms of 1244 and require that it cooperate appropriately with Belgrade in dealing with matters in the province.

When a Serbian politician being that SRS party official, DSS with Don Kichote leader Kostunica himself, enter Kosova they clearly see a banner clearly “Welcome to the Republic of Kosova” board at the border crossing point between Kosova and Serbia in Merdare. !
If they are as tough as they sound why don’t they get out of their cars and remove that sign?

Princip, UK/ Yes its true your government is slowly backing always from its statements and very soon he will recognise the Republic of Kosova.

Its a clear statement that the general makes "27 member state have supported the new EULEX mission in Kosova" for all those who refer to the UNSC its not really relevant as only Serbia and Russia opposed the Independence of Kosova the rest where in favour or did not have an opinion.

You must realise that Russia is only supporting Serbia so that it can highlight its muscles in global politics and so far they have been very very week.

first of all lets point out the fact that Mr.Kermabon is free to express the wishes of those who are illegally trying to establish a shadow-organisation in the southern serbian province...

BUT,

since this socalled EULEX-mission has no justification whatsoever ( those EU-members are desperately trying to justify it on the basis of UNSC 1244 - but with little success )

I dont see on which basis this french soldier can say ANYTHING AT ALL in regard to what Mr. Ban Ki Moon "needed to do".

you just have no justification, no legal ground, my dear monsieur Yves..

so, its all big words without meaning...

you should keep that in mind, Yves... :)

- but who exactly gives the EU a mandate to do as and how they wish in what remains Serbian soverign territory???

Where and what is President Tadic doing to counter the clear and agressive tone of EULEX chief against Serbian soverignity??? Tadic as President should be continually and voaclly correcting these false misconceptions yet what does he do other then cosy up ever closer to those who humiliate him and Serbia

Tadic must respond to such flagrant trampling of Serbian soverignity by the EU now not in years to come through more appeasement and ever greater conditions beimg applied.

Of course Bganon will have little to say about this and I am doubting his identity as a Serb if indeed he is?

De Kermabon is right. UNMIK will not be the "main" player. But it really seems that UNMIK will be "one of many" players in Kosovo.

We'll have something resembling EULEX which will try to exert executive authority over the entire region.

We'll have the local Serb government, with which EULEX will have to work with if it wants executive authority over the whole region.

We'll have Belgrade continuing to pull the strings in Kosovo's north through its locally elected representatives.

We'll have UNMIK still there, since Resolution 1244 is the only valid structure working (and saying that is certainly NOT a compliment).

And we'll have the K Albanians in Pristina who will have to work with EULEX and UNMIK, and realize they are partners at best with Mitrovica-Gracanica: a bitter pill for Sejdiu and a zero-sum outcome for Thaci.

With the bureaucratic red tape seemingly looming on the horizon, Bosnia's going to look pretty functional in comparison!

village-bey

There are clear signs that EULEX Mission will be a blueprint for similar action in the future. The concept has sound theoretical bases to bring precedents like Kosova into the general norm. Obstructions by Russia and China in Burma and Darfur has made the imperative for a “League of Democracies” even greater. United Nations has surpassed its usefulness and recent deadlocks in the UNSC have only highlighted inadequacy of the organisation. Autocracies might be on the rise but that does not mean we have to adopt their morality.
Bring on EULEX.

He said that Ban needed to decide about changes to UNMIK and to “face up to the situation after June 15, when the Kosovo constitution comes into force.” “I don’t think UNMIK can be the main player for much longer. Let me stress one more time—I don’t know what decision the UN secretary-general will take. He needs to decide about changes to UNMIK,” de Kermabon reiterated. What total arrogance or what will Brussels make the changes for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Will all of the EU country's troops change their badges from UNMIK to Brussels EU army with marching orders to silence opposition to their illegal deployment with no legitimate mandate I wont be to surprised. With a hypocritical organization that believes and thinks it is a law only on to it self.
