U.S.: Serbia should choose Europe

Again we have an article headline trying to confuse people by creating ambiguity between Europe/European - ie the geographical continent and the European Union. Serbia is already a memeber of the OSCE, the CoE, UEFA, Eurovision etc. Norway, Iceland and Switzerland are not members of the EU, but are no less European than any of the members in my opinion.

Benny, Serbia is a democratic country, the countries to its east are democratic. I am afraid neither you nor the people of Serbia (not that they would) can place the country in Asia.

My country, the United States, is singularly responsible for Serbia not being integrated into the EU and Atlantic communities. Just with the Treat of Versailles in WWI that caused the groundwork for NAZI takeover in Germany, US policy and intervention in the Balkans in the 90's has poisoned the well in which we now wish to draw water.

We have alienated a people and a country that were allies in the two world wars, and a people who shunned the Soviet Union during the cold war. Our manipulation of their political system has solidified the radical base, and made the democratic forces of Serbia feel abandoned.

We were the nation that renegotiated with Milosevic in the 90's and brought him legitimacy, we were the country that illegally occupied 15% of a country that posed to military threat to ours without an political solution for the future, and we are the country that continues to blame Serbian policy even though we left Milosevic in Belgrade. His own people through him out, isn't it time that the West, especially the United States, welcomes the Serbian people back to the table of world democracies? We should have learned from Versailles that you do not kick a people when they are down.

I am by no means comparing the Radical party to the NAZI party, but if the American government does not want the radical party in power, it should not leave the Serbian people will little alternative. The atmosphere we have created have allowed the voters of the "Euro Integration parties" to feel isolated and sidelined.

Sorry to disappoint the US, but Serbia chooses the World. Serbia chooses International Law and what's right.

If the EU/US chose to lose Serbia with its influence and potential in the region for 1.8 million destitute Albanians, then they have to live with the consequences.

Serbia has already chosen the right path and the World is backing us.

I ashamed at the arrogance and inconsistence of the government of my country, the US. In this article, the rep cites adherence to the Dayton accords to maintain the territorial integrity of Bosna, while at the same time ignoring UN1244 that grants the same territorial integrity with respect to Serbia/Kosovo.

The American people in general are totally against this type of two-faced stance. The problem is that they just don't know what our government is doing. While "the truth will set you free" that only applies if the truth is heard.

what shows the moral integrity of our albanian co-writers here is the mere fact that they didn´t lose one single word in regard of the hundreds of innocent serbian and even albanian civilians that were killed by the criminal kla-gang...

they even call them "hero´s"

I dont get it. Why europe and USA want serbia to be part of EU. Serbia was never part of democratic countries. They belong to east. I would suggest to europe and USA. Leave serbia to decide. until now I've had the opinion that B92 is a neutral information provider, but by placing the comment nr. 9 of Mr. Jovan on Mr. ZK UK and refusing mine, I am very well aware of your stance. So it is for B92 alowed to give one-sided comments in criminal-offence of Albanians, which are partly true and keeping silence about the widely known criminal acts of the Serbian army, police and paramilitaries. This is something to be proud of!!
But it seems part of the Serbian propaganda, which will never prevail over the opinion of people that are against any act of threat against neighbours.

i am very sorry to keep repeating this, but as i have already informed my highly esteemed co-posters at b92, there is no karadzic in the US. he dare not enter, because if he did he'd be immediately arrested, and then forced to pay out at least part of the multi-million dollar civil suit damages granted to some of his victims, raped and from concentration camps, in the past decade. yes, not a pretty picture.

i have several times reported his actual whereabouts but nobody there seems to take much notice: he is "hiding" in a very old religious building, bordering the bosnian/montenegro border. for real.

i have also explained that mr. mladic is currently under the desk of one very well known serbian politician, but this may need to slightly change in the current weeks, depending on how the political negotiations go.

sometimes i have to believe that you people are just not interested in finding those 2 gentlemen.

but then i am just a "self-admitted" jew who is "meddling" in serbia's private matters.

by the way, at least in american english, we do not connect the adjectival phrase "self-admitted" to the ethno-religious identity "Jew." it is, however, most appropriate to use "self-admitted" with the very descripive "anti-semite." catch my dift?
