Ben, since you fear so much for Tadic's safety and admire the man so much may I suggest that you ask your leader Mr Thaci to provide him with the highest security that "Kosova" can muster.

Looks like we are back on the blame game of everything that went wrong is Serbia's fault and if Serbs don't respect men like Tadic they will become barbaric once more.

Jan it's not about the freedom of speech, that's ok, here is bout the responsabilities of a TOP policial rep.

The speeches of the TOP poloticins are in fact ACTIONS. And this might lead to some naive to do justice by itself.

Opportunisticaly I might say ok leave them to increase their inetrnal conflictuality.

All I wantd to say is that this kind of irrsponsable politics lead to wars in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Kosova, made hundered of thousand of people die and may bring another tragedy in aonotehr family- yestrday Dindics today, I hope not, Tadics.

Words may be very very deangerous.

here's a nice little story -- in dec. 1993, i made my first visit to israel. all around us were posters of yitchak rabin, the israeli prime minister, in arab robes, or with german nazi uniform and insignia (as i recall it.) what is going on here, i wondered, aren't israeli politics bizarre? (they are.)

fast forward about 1 1/2 years. seemingly out of nowhere, a jewish terrorist (some might say zealot, but we jews tend to call a spade a spade) shot rabin to death, thereby decimating any possible success of the peace process, and tearing israeli domestic politics to shreads, from which, from my point of view, it has yet to recover.

you see, it wasn't just a few nasty little posters -- the opposition mounted a full-frontal hate attack, accusing rabin of being an "enemy of the state" for even trying to shed his hawkish image and make peace with the arabs.

now, i am not comparing mr rabin with tadic, who i consider a nationalist and demagogue, esp. regarding all things Kosova. for a while, his actions and those of kostunica's were identical, whatever his hopes for euro integration. BUT, i don't want him dead -- yet another assassination in serbia, yet another casualty of the hell of the milosevic 90s. and in serbia, it doesn't take much to set off a conflagration, just the right circumstances and a few choice words: consider the recent "accidental" fire at our embassy. consider the assassination of your djindjic. and so many others, need i list them?

i totally support freedom of speech, but it has to be responsible speech, and HATE speech is not. it can have tremendous and truly awful repercussions...

Sad that it comes down to this.
I don't always agree with Tadic tactics, but he isn't the one dividing the Serbs. Another goverment with the likes of Mr. Ilic, Kostunica put together with the Radicals and soon more moderate Serbs will have to suffer and it will be the 90's all over again.

ben - something is wrong if words, silly as they may be, would be reason enough for prosecution. Unless those words directly urge someone to go out and do harm, break the law, or cause immediate danger to the life of welfare and people, I want the biggest possible freedom of speech for everyone, no matter which side of the political fence we might stand.

"Enemy of State" poster suspect questioned- I htought thay questioned Kostunica and thay questioned Vladica.

Wrong man Mr persecutot. What Vladica did is that he followed by action the words of a TOP politician. If this politician is irrsponsable and lead Vladica to make posters and maybe to someone else to.... do a "justice" than teh responsability os to teh politician not to the manipulated citizen. Citizens bealive that the TOP politicians have reliable information but becaouse of their institutional duty they cannot do something more about it so they might think it's time that they make "justice" and than we have Dindic 2.

So question the right mane amnd live the poor "clown" Vlado in peace
