The best answer to this question can give the science. There must be some conditions to make such operations. It's not about taking out a teeth. Carla is speaking for something that you can't do in the most modern clinics in Europe. How do you think is that possible on the mountains of the Northern Albania? Ask a kidney doctor and get some information about the places, we are talking, then the answer is simple. Carla del Ponte is really lying. After these allegations, we should be disappointed, who has been charged with the investigations on the war crimes in Balkan.

Cygnus:
"How about the fact that there are hundreds of missing people known to be taken to the area where KLA troops were training. (right by where the alleged organ harvesters were working from)."

As I said, the fate of all the missing - yes, these Serbs, and also the 1500+ Albanians - SHOULD be investigated. It is a shame on humanity that these people - both lots - remain missing after a decade.

I simply cast doubt on the organ trading claims. Yes it should be investigated. If anyone were found guilty, they should be hung. Organ trading happens. It is not only Albanians who do it, and it is not only Serbs who are victims. Even in Carla's allegation, the victims include people from Moldova and Russia and other parts of east Europe. Gangsters do it for money, not race-hate. Apparently even some Albanians had their organs cutout according to Carla's story. This whole story is extremely unlikley however. Some shack on top of an out of the way hill in outback Albania is not the kind of place a cut out organ would last a day. Even if there was some gangster operation at the time, showing that it was "the KLA" that did it is even more unlikely, and sounds like a straight piece of demonisation.

I find it interesting thatb those who rightly cast doubt n the more extravagant Fox-News propaganda during the war, like the one about the Serb army using Albanians as blood banks, automatically believe a similar tale when told about their enemies.

i completely agree with you, DimTuc, and many of you others (not the nationalists!) we need to investigate about the missing, ALL of the missing. absolutely, no question, no reservations. period.

about del ponte -- she didn't do a great job. in a series of bad circumstances, she ended up doing a very bad job. and now, to make up for it, here is the tell-all book. this woman, and her "ghost-writer" are dizzying. is it to assuage her guilt? to make a quick buck? a better place in the history books? guilt trip belgrade and the KLA?

i will not spend one penny on it, BUT i will read it, cover to cover, or at least as much as i can bear.

and again, i have nothing against this new SErge, but: show results or quit. if you can't get them to hand over mladic and karadzic (spare me the fictions that they can't be found)in, say 6 or 9 months, then just resign, and don't waste the world's tax-payer money...

When will be the bloodthirsty Aztec pigeon-snake-god Quetzalcoatl hunted down? He asked for way too many human sacrifices.

One thing is sure: teh book is almost all about hunting Serbian war criminals and we are speaking here only about the chapter where KLA is concerned.

what do you think about this?

Or maybe the entire book was written to attract attention only towards this chapter?

But the bottom lien question is that DelPonte had time from 1999- 2007 that's 8 years to investigate this, and all she did is to write a novel about a story that she had al meant to investigate but she didn't.

From the Serbian perspective this woman is complete incompetent- a paliaccio or a poor women that they didn’t allow here to do her jobe.

From Albanian perspective she is a charlatan that instead of doing her job writes mediocre stories- on first sight- but the truth is that it is a well orchestrated political attack.

DelPonte should be trialed, if she fails to bring tangible proves [that she was impeded to pursue her job] that she has to answer about insinuation.

Princip UK, It looks like you have a selective memory on facts. It has always been denied from both Albania and Kosova that such things happened for real.
The reason why the Albanian authorities decided to investigate the issue is because it is their obligation to clear things up.
Dont jump into conclusions before they come to a conclusion.
If what Carla Del Ponte mentions on her book is true, I personally will suport the capital sentence for the criminals. However, before thisngs will clear up by the Albanian and international authorities I would suggest not to take advantage of this fog for political reasons and PR.
Not guilty until proven. Keep this in mind please.

“At the end of the investigation, the judges came to the conclusion that the information concerning the alleged existence of prisons where doctors were said to have extracted human organs was not accurate,”

If it was they would've press charges.

Now they press novels. period.

Anohow if new elements emerge, the investiagation shoudl continua. But surely there wil not be any investigation just for the sake to fulfill the desire of Kosotinica & Co to put dirt on the fight for freedom of teh Kosovar people.

Good on Albania for agreeing. The accusations are horrific, so should be investigated; and any refusal to cooperate would appear as if someone had something to hide.

In any case, the fact that both Serbs, and a much greater number of Albanians, remain missing indicates the need for continuing investigation regarding *both*, whatever the truth of the organ trading claims.

However, on the organ trading claims, they'll need to come up with a bit more "evidence" than so far; some house where they found some gauze, a few syringes, some anaesthetic and blood stains? You can find that stuff in the lane at the back of my block.

This Carla woman has always been a little off, what are her achievements in the Yugoslav tribunal anyway...other than complain about everything and everyone?

She should be sued!

Princip, UK

Note how there has never been any denial of the war crime that 300+ serbians were abducted and held in Northern Albania.

Thus the onus is on the Albanian authorities to explain what happened to the 300+ who were incarcerated in northern Albania against all international laws and in itself constitutes a clear and unequivocal war crime???

Prosecutions by the Hague should have been folllowed up immediatly in 2004 when this fact alone was apparent!!!

Now these war crimes must be fully investigated as to who (including the role of NATO and UNMIK officials at the time of teh war crime) and to what extent they were involved in this war crime - full and transparent investigation by independent investigators are now required and clearly Hague has some explaining to do to have let this pass in 2004.
